I wrestled with those blade brakes for years. Finally deleted them completely earlier this year and my mowing life has been much better. Just remember to wait for the wirring to stop before stepping off. Keep toes out from under the deck.

You have several good videos, I've been watching a lot of your videos, you do a good job demonstrating the task. Since I've watch your other videos, I know this one is just about changing the belt, but it would have been better if you at least mentioned that you have already sharpened and balanced the blades as well as lube the mower deck spindles.

I've been using my d125 for years without belt guards not didn't have any issues knock on wood. How often do you grease you spindles? I've recently heard from a friend that john deere has been making revised belt covers that have a metal rod in them that's supposed to stop the wearing holes in covers ,I haven't seen them yet. Let us know your thoughts.
I live in the Lebanon, pa area .

I grease everything once a year. I haven't seen these covers yet either. Thanks for watching

I have the new ones with the metal bars in them. Has definitely helped, but they will pop out if your belt gets misaligned (brake arm pulley nut likes to wander off)
