SVG had to battle off Ty Gibbs early before a late intense battle with Austin Hill saw the New Zealander send the NASCAR villain off the race line during a late restart. What do you think of the potential new rivarly in NASCAR's National Series?

That move SVG pulled was legitimate racing haha 😅
If Hill had not drove through SVG at COTA we wouldn't be talking about this would we, that was as blatant as you could get. What's the old saying, what goes around comes around. Hill should have known this was coming. Good win SVG hope to see more.
Gibbs... Please SVG was playing with him. Hill better watch some Supercars action of SVG the past couple of years. SVG will get you and you won't know for several laps till your car falls out from under you. Hill's going to learn the hard way not to cross the Kiwi!!!
These Kiwi and Aussie drivers are just on another level than NASCRAP drivers.
And don't forget - all the controls and seat are on the other side of the car. No problem for Shane.
The great Kiwi Denny "The "Bear" Hulme is having a beer in heaven!
@@DennisMerwood-xk8wphow about showing some humility instead of being a flog
he wont need to remember him because as soon as svg gets on an oval, hes done.
Just like ambrose
Ovals are so boring imo. Turn one way all day? That is only half racing. LOL
Have a look at SVG pilot an AMG Mercedes round Mt Panorama in the Bathurst 12 hour race and he pulls off some of the most sublime overtaking manoeuvres ever seen in motor racing. Guy is an absolute champion.
Wow, New Zealanders Scott Dixon, Scott McLaughlin, Marcus Armstrong and now Shane van Gisbergen, all doing well in the USA. Great to see Kiwi drivers doing well on the world stage.
I have the signed bonnet from Shane’s 1st race (stone brothers car) in Supercars Australia. It was raining he started last on the grid & won the race
I've met him, and spoke with him a few different times. Even raced radio-controlled cars with him once lol. Also, I used to race him a lot on iRacing. Amazing all-around vehicle operator. Does drift, Dirt oval Speedway, touring cars, anything and everything. I dare say he would race cockroaches if he happened upon a race. He's very shy though, these post-race interviews are difficult for him but I can see he is trying so hard to play the part for the corporate side of things. BTW, Shane's #1 skill is putting pressure on you and "making a hole" it's very difficult to do it to him, in fact, I would say that you just can't put pressure on SVG, he's just too cool. I always wondered why he stuck around V8 Supercars so long, he had the talent to do anything he wanted. Im really happy for him. Good on ya Shane!
Agree. Shane is shy and not naturally comfortable in public speaking engagements like interviews. I've done hot laps with him in the red bull 97 car and run into him at airports and on flights. He is simple, honest, straightforward and says what he thinks if given the opportunity (yes that is a dig at Supercars and how it is being "run") and imo does not naturally or easily engage with people.
He is a pure racer. Lives for racing. My wife was a friend of Senna's and has always said that Shane reminds her of Senna in so many ways. I look forward to his unfolding within Nascar. Strap in folks-we are in for a ride.
SVG stated that he caused the voltage issue by accidentally switching off the alternator. When they realised, he switched it back on and the issue was resolved.
Lol whoops!
I thought that Hill bloke got fined recently for some other racing incident he caused! He squarely tractored SVG off the track at COTA, costing him his first win and ended up demoted to 27th, but Hill kept 2nd, which was a joke.
He sure did get a fine! Hill has definitely had a laundry list of incidents the last calendar year to sour him with some fans. Thanks for watching!
Seems like Hill needs to read the rule book again!
SVG is one of the most versatile drivers I’ve ever seen and he’s got a smile on his face again which we hadn’t seen for a while in Supercars
Hill to team radio:
SVG is breaking my balls 😂
Last time anyone looked Hill sat down to pee lol.
SVG could drive a wheelie bin to victory Lane!

On an oval?!
@@DavidClark-vu3dw yep. Give him time. The results he's been getting on ovals is easy above what anybody expected of him in the first place. Gets in V8 supercars, drifting, Aussie racing, speedway etc and wins sooner or later. ......... Watch this space.

if it werent for stages, SVG probably wouldve led almost every lap (depending on how cautions fall obviously). Hes in a class of his own in Xfinity, its genuinely almost unfair having him compete at the road courses.

He would have had a good chance at sweeping the road courses this year if not for Hill.
Hill was trying to cut a corner narrowly when he and SVG were side by side. Hill only has himself to blame.
SVG has hit stride just like V8 supercars he will be a Force to be reckoned with.
Very interesting..
I don't think anyone expects SVG to be a championship contender this year... He is a very humble guy and is learning fast... he's super intelligent and super tough.. some folks don't yet know who there're fucken with.. But once he settles in .. Who knows what could happen in the future..
Great comment of yours, in , How will SVG continue to perform on the ovals...
That's going to take what we Kiwis call time in the seat .. The future looks bright 🌞
He's not going to be, but he's a really likeable guy on and off the track. I've been wishing him the best but a bunch of his fans are really putting me off at this point. So many rude comments towards American drivers getting owned, blah blah blah. It's obnoxious. Juan Pablo Montoya had 7 wins and 30 podiums in Formula 1, and the best finish he ever had in NASCAR was 8th, so don't be shocked if svg doesn't exactly light the world on fire in the non road course races.
Looks awesome seeing Hill get punted out of the way
Hill tried to squeeze SGV and if you watch Supercars at all, you know that ain't gonna work!
Hill got what he played for and now is mad.
Poor Austin Hill, waah!

Aussie here. V8 Supercar racing in Australia is highly competitive and The Gis is a master of the sport. He also does rallying in NZ and he is is competitive against specialists. I think he brings a much more rounded driving experience to NASCAR.
Just a heads up, there's 20+ more guys in Australia (from SuperV8s) that are capable of same.
Keep this in mind as SVG opens up channel for others to follow.
Would've, should've been 3 from 3 in road courses if not for that push-to-pass move at COTA. Looking forward to seeing his improvements on ovals.

austin turned into SVG
He had the lead!
@@DavidClark-vu3dw He couldn't turn in and claim the corner because he knew SVG was there so tried to cramp him up but SVG wasn't buying what Hill was dishing up.
Gotta really admire the way SVG is performing. He spent most of his time racing cars with the steering wheel on the right hand side of the cabin. It takes a lot of talent to switch sides and start winning races immediately. Will be watching how he goes with great interest. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Front row cars going into the turn with the entire field at full song on their bumpers, #21 (which was on the outside of the turn) decided to pinch the corner with SVG already forward of his rear bumper, the entire field were bumper to bumper, some on the brakes some on the gas, SVG choices, turn right over the curb into the dirt, turn left and spin #21 out and crash the field, slam on the brakes and crash the field, or hold the inside line, mash the gas, protect his line, not crash the field, door slam #21 who did not hold his own line while moving to the right. It would be interesting to hear the in-car audio with the spotter, was the #21 “cleared” to the right? As stated by SVG, he was happy to start where he would be on the outside on turn #1 and inside on turn #2. Watch the Cup race on Sunday and see how the restarts play out, I’m sure the smart drivers and teams replayed this restart many times. #21 didn’t hold his line or play the BIG game and was schooled.
Hill just needs to not block so much. He knew SVG was coming hard and he tried to pinch him on the corner. Didn't work did it.😂😂
💯
Exactly he pinched him so hard sent him to the edge of the ripple strip and that bounced Shane back into him
Hill should have picked the outside lane for the restart just for that turn alone!
@DavidClark-vu3dw and that's basically what svg said after lol
Yup, that's the risk when you're challenging the car on the inside. FAFO
I said it a couple of months ago. SVG will quickly learn the dirty tactics of the NASCAR road races and apply them with his own flare. He was a master of the bump and shove in Supercars, now its time for the yanks to get an ed.u.cation.
I am curious on how much Ambrose is following SVG's career. He's got to be proud.

He can turn right and left
When you squeeze someone off track you better expect repurcussions. GO THE GIZ!
SVG, Just call him Gizzy, ...
he could be a champion if he maintain this performance
If it were a road racing series he'd already be miles ahead. However, you have to be good at Bristol, Darlington, Charlotte, Daytona & Martinsville too. He's got a way to go to be Champion. Juan Pablo Montoya, who has as good a racing pedigree as you can get, never won an oval race in 13 years of trying. Ambrose never won on a circle track either. I'm not saying SVG can't or will not, but the odds are very long. Until NASCAR decides to end the season on a road course it's extremely unlikely he will become champion in this format. I'm not against him at all, I'm an fan. I wish him lots of success & he's really a likeable guy. I don't think he can beat Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Brad K and Blaney over an entire season.
SVG is a beast. Hill has made a very grave error getting Shane fired up. Good luck to him forever now. Didnt they watch any of his races in Oz and NZ?

Nascar is primarily an oval race series. Did you not know that?! 😂
I was waiting for a comment about this to come up,yanks get defensive & jump straight to the oval racing, SVG is showing them that the car can also turn right & not just left! Same as burnouts Americans would just sit on the spot smoking the tyres till they seen Aussies proving that the car can move while doing a burnout 😂
@@DavidClark-vu3dw of course. But it still must be embarrassing for them @ their lack of ‘skill’ against him.
