We are back with another episode of ZERO SPENT, but this time, I’m making fall themed DIY decor without spending an extra dime. Some of my favorite season decor pieces are the ones that I’ve made, so I’m keeping that tradition alive. In an effort to save some monies and get resourceful, I’m going to try and make some decor with things I already have, which may or may not include trash. The goal of this challenge is to not spend ANY extra money...so we’re going to make an effort to use what we have and get creative!

About the pumpkins - If the plaster cracks, your layer was either too thick or it wasn't fully dry before you added a second coat or the paper maché underneath wasn't fully dry. It's easy to repair though, you can just fix the cracks with plaster and use sandpaper to smooth things out. Also, add a stone or something similar to the plastic bag construction if you want your pumpkins to be a bit more sturdy for outside use.
Thank you for these tips!! 💛
Where would you place the stone/stones/similar objects?? Because what if you pick up the items and they fall right through?
Paper maché - definitely brings back memories. Some things just always work and don't cost much.
congratulations on the Home Deopt add! 🎉 im so happy for you and i love your channel
Ahhh, thank you so much!! It was such a crazy experience and I’m so happy it’s out in the world for you to see now 🥰
Oh gosh Tina I haven't done paper mache in a long time but I do have a paper mache pumpkin that I finally painted purple and mine has these cool leaves on it that I painted a pretty green. I have done paper mache using balloons and those were alot of fun. Thanks for this fun video and so many things that you do are so pretty, those glass jars are so pretty and also those metal leaves and mushrooms glued to the outside really looks so great. Have a good week coming up. sending love and hugs, bye!! 😊🥰😂🎃🎃🧡🧡💜💜
Both turned out so cute but wow on the pumpkins! You’re so creative.
Hi Tina- the amber glass jars are beautiful and I really want to try this project! Recycling what I already have is important to me, and is much preferred over buying something new. I have a few questions though: 1. What was the ratio of red to yellow food dye used to create the color you got? 2. When you baked it, did you notice fumes emitting from the glass (online forums say to watch out for this)? 3. Are you using real tea lights or LED? If you are using real tea lights, have you noticed if the heat diminishes the color or makes it bubble? Thanks so much and keep up the creativity! -Kelly, Irvine, CA
I keep geting your home depot ad poping up and its been having me smiling from ear to ear for 2 days. So excited for you getting to work with them and hope this opens the door to more ooportunities that cater to your talent
Ahhhh! That makes me so happy!! Thank you for the love 😭💛
Love the pumpkins!
You really will have to repair the cracks and the the sinks on the smaller pumpkin 🎃 the bigger one can be used for a decor. You always have some great ideas to share with others 👍🏻.
ha! been collecting those Oui yogurts jars to make vietnamese yogurt😊
Omg, I want some now!!
Those pumpkins are amazing! Such a great idea to use up those plastic bags!
Whose colostrum are they using?
Im definitely making the trash pumpkins
15:30 so doing this pumpkin project! I have too many bags and love a giant pumpkin moment. Also your craft project memory was so sweet. And now you are our art teacher!
🥺 Thank you for letting me live out all my art teacher dreams!! 💛
The Pumpkins were my fav! I can see doing that with my niece. You're so adorbs! Go 10yr old Tina!!
Tina, that paper machete was so inspiring! I might have to do that❤
Love the homemade pumpkins, they look real because of the imperfections!
Yessss, what's exactly why I love them too!!
I’m thinking the paper towels on the larger pumpkin may have made a difference in the cracking/non-cracking.
When I was in 5th grade, my best friend and I designed a two person horse costume for Halloween; the head was fencing wire and paper mache. We looked out of the bottom of the neck. We really had to figure out how to shape the wire, without cutting ourselves, and spent a full Saturday afternoon doing the paper cache. Black yarn for the mane, and fake eyelashes. It was very primitive, but we thought it was EPIC. For this reason, I love paper mache.
I’m saving my Oui jars too I got some wooden lids for them on Amazon that fit perfectly so herbal teas and herbs have a new home
Can you share the link? I ordered some, based on typing in qui yougart lids, and they were too small.
yes, please share 😊
Trash/Accumulation DIYs!
Those are the best ones to get creative! 💛
I love both! I think I would try painting the pumpkins with paint and baking soda though instead of the plaster for a terracotta look!!!! 😊
Love using all those plastic bags for the pumpkins! I have a bunch
The pumpkins look awesome!
Love the DIY pumpkin ❤❤❤❤❤
I loved your “Girl Math” at Michael’s
Hehehe, this is how I justify any purchase 😂
I was wondering why you were saving all of those jars 😂 you’re always one step ahead! These projects are so beautiful and smart! Can’t wait to see the rest of the fall diys that you make this year ❤
The paper mache definitely brings back elementary and middle school memories 🥰. I wonder how they would turn out using seasonal fabric or wrapping paper. 🤔
Bravo Tina! Those were so good.
Jyst fyi. Plastic bags NEVER need to go into the land fill. All major grocery store chains have a recyle bin inside, usually close to the cart rack. Don't throw the bags in the trash, take them there. 😊
Not in north carolina. But we reuse them for cat litter so we're getting use out of them.
Your Home Depot commercial just played for me when I clicked on Lone Fox's latest video. Congratulations! I'm tickled for you!
I'm loving this return to an arts and craft diy themed video! It feels so cozy and nostalgic and doable ❤
Thank you so much!! I will always love making projects like this 😇💛
Clever project. ❤
Am def doing the pumpkins! I loved both tho. I have empty candle jars I have saved . I may the amber glass as well. Thanks for the inspo
The pumpkins look so good like wth they had no business being this good
Honestly tho!!! Like I was shook 👏🏼👏🏼
GIRL I just saw you in a HOME DEPOT commercial!! Congrats, what an amazing opportunity (and performance lol) 🎉
A great idea for kids to make.
Yesss! A great activity for kids too 🫶🏼
@@tinalemac I was totally thinking up how this could be a fun family activity! If they last for several seasons, they'd also be a reminder of time spent together 🫰🏽🧡🎃
As a kid, we used to turn the can upside down and scrape it against brick until the top just fell off.
Your DIY reminded me of getting into trouble for playing with cut tin, trying to make it into different shapes
Cute!!
Wouldn't the heat from the candle melt the ModPoge? I know the jars were baked, but still, the heat from the flame! I am thinking LED tea lights. Looks great!
Have a blessed day!!
xxoo
Canadian girly here - they banned plastic bags where I live! you’ve got a gold mine!!
You can actually just sand paper mache! just obvi go w/ light sand but that'll help smooth things out, it's worked for me making props for theatre!
One way of using yo your bags.i like that great job.😅yoy should have spray painted that.
Those pumpkins are amazing! What is the ratio for the glue to water and also the plaster/paint/glue? I must try these!
New to your channel. I loved both projects. Will try to recreate both.
Love both. I do have a question about the tea lights. Since you painted the inside of the glass, is it ok to light the candles? It doesn’t affect the finish?
That first drawing you showed was from your front door console table for your home in Chicago
I made tall candlesticks with Oui jars and e6000!
Oooo, I love that idea!!
I have a ton of these jars! That sounds quite intriguing, I may combine Tina's amber and your idea!
@@tinalemac Target has good sales on Oui. I have also asked the manager for 1/2 price when it is close to sell by date.
I love the pumpkins, I made a 6-ft tall giraffe!
Hi Tina, The cracks can be fixed with caulk.😊
I was watching another diy creator and “your” HomeDepot commercial played twice. It was the house number/planter box. Still love it
Kintsugi pumpkin!!!
Oooo, love this idea!! 💛
I would love to try the pumpkins❤
I love the punkin they look amazing 😊❤
My girl math is like that when I go to Michael’s too lol 😅
I am loving the pumpkins, definitely going to give this a try.
Love this!
Thank you so much!! 💛
Love this series ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 💛💛
Congrats. Saw you in a Home Depot ad. Yeah for you.
Thank you so much, Linda! 💛
Love the pumpkins!
Love the pumpkins❤❤❤❤
Fun nostalgic craft
cool shirt!
What great ideas ❤❤❤ loved them both 😊
Tina, I’m for sure going to try the pumpkins with the kids! So so good, as always 😍
Thank you, Jamie!! 💛
If you use flour for paper mache doesn't it mold?
I added salt into it to combat that! (:
👏👏👏😍
❤️
Omg I’ve been looking for a way to DIY some terracotta/plaster-esque pumpkins. The artificial ones are SO expensive, and I couldn’t even find any basic plain styrofoam or plastic ones that were more than 6-7” tall. This video came at literally the perfect time!!! I was ready to start making them out of plastic bottles (which I may actually still try because I’m curious how they’d turn out) 🤣
❤❤❤
The glasses reminds me of sunset when you added the tea lights. If you are ever looking for a cool yogurt glass. I love La Fermire yogurt some come in glass but one is in a little terracotta "flower pot" and I found tops on Amazon. I'm not saying purchase it just for the jar...to me its probably the best yogurt I've ever had especially the mango one.
Love the pumpkins and I’m going to try the glass trick.
Great job on the paper mache pumpkins. You should paint the stem brown!!! It definitely brought me back to my elementary days as well.
I actually like how angular the little pumpkin turned out. The shadows it creates are really dynamic. I hope you are able to fix the cracks, I would vote against turning it Halloween so it can be displayed longer.
No I'm 71, I haven't had to buy anything new for years. and I have to agree my favorite ones are the ones I made for seasonal decor. But I absolutely love these because so many of us out there don't have a budget we can spend on things!!!
These pumpkins are cute Tina! 🎃
LOVE the pumpkins!
So cute!!
Thank you so much, Morgan! 💛💛
❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
If someone is dairy sensitive colostrum isn’t recommended. Your crafts on the other hand are recommended for everyone!! Love love love I’ve followed many of your ideas with good results
4:00 ✨🧚♂️ Girl Math 🧚♂️✨
❤😊so cool 😎wonder if you could get a glass cutter to make different things out of jars. 🫙 like cut the tops off ❤😊
