Thank you so much for pushing me past the 500 subs mark. It means the world to me. Let's announce some new collections I'm aiming for and look at some games I rented ALL THE TIME as a kid.
Archon, Duck Tales, and Mega Man 3 were regular NES rentals for me. 👍
Archon looks like a cool one that I’ve never played, the battles look neat in it, I can imagine it was an interesting one to pop in the first time renting it. Those are great picks for sure!

disney was a premium channel like HBO/showtime back then for me(idk if it was in canada assuming soo as well) so i rarely got to watch those cartoons, except when they had free disney channel week or something.
We had the “Disney Afternoon” on a local channel here, it would come on every Sunday afternoon but all the new episodes would show at like 7am on the weekdays. I grew up on a farm about 20 minutes from town and my mom drove our school bus... I was first one on and last one off. Meaning I missed the new episodes in the morning and the cartoons after school too! There was many a fake sick day just to watch the weekday cartoons 😂🤣😂
yeah it was premium channel by us and thats if they didnt change it to a channel my TV didnt go up to
i remember nickleodeon went to channel 30 some and had to turn on the VCR to watch higher number channels cause our tv only went to 31 at the time, and my dad would get pissed so i rarely got to watch nickleodeon when it switched channels until i got a TV in the basement to watch@@RetrocartCollector

I rented Who Framed Roger Rabbit all of the time, too! My mom bought it for me so I wouldn't have to rent it anymore... I never even took it out of the shrink wrap. Kids are so dumb 😅😅

Just picked up Mario Kart on SNES the other day. I remember playing it as a kid and being really good at it.

My favorite rental memory is when pokemon stadium came out, there was a blockbuster down the street for me and they never had it in stock. Eventually I got sick of it being out of stock so i went in the morning and whenever I saw someone drop a return in the box i would go in and ask them if it was Pokemon stadium. After 3 days finally I got it!

I just hit 30 SNES games last night after picking up Bust a Move! Glad to see you chugging along.
My rental memory that sticks with me is absolutely silly, but it taught me such a life lesson. When I was 10 or 11, I stayed home from school sick and my poor mom went to the video store after work to get me a game for the weekend. She got off late, so most of the good games were gone, as such, she got me Tom & Jerry for SNES because I liked the cartoon.
Long story short, I threw a fit and was a total butt head to her. After calming down, I played and beat the game that weekend and actually enjoyed it. I felt terrible about how I treated my mom and spent the rest of the weekend apologizing lol.
Today, it sits proudly in my connection as a reminder to love and call my mom 😂😂😂

That's not silly at all! That's a great story, thank you so much for sharing it. I'm sure we all did things like that to our folks back then and the key is the learnings from it we all gained. I love that you have that memory and that game connects you to thoughts about your mom. That really means a lot and has me thinking about times like that in my youth as well. Thanks for sharing that!
Would rent Mega Man 1&2, Blaster Master, Super Mario 2, and Castlevania just to name a few. Great times as a kid!

@RetrocartCollector we didn't have much money so my dad would take me and a few friends to rent games. We would have sleepovers and play the games all weekend!
@@HellsMaster those were the best sleep overs. I remember doing that too and I love those memories.
One that comes to mind is Mickey Mousecapade. I'm sure there were others I can't remember. The only reason I do remember this is because every time the store we went to didn't have one I was interested in I felt bad even at 7 years old. Mickey Mousecapade was always there so I grabbed it each time even though I really didn't like it. Just so it didn't feel like I wasted my parents' time.
That’s says a lot about you that you felt that way at that age and did that, sounds like you were very thoughtful doing that. Mickey Mousecapade is one I remember renting a few times as well, i didn’t rent it a lot tho so I don’t mind it now. Thanks for sharing that!

Growing up the first game I always wanted to rent and always pissed off my brother was Paperboy for nes. I loved that game to death and my best friend gave me his copy when I started collecting nes. I'll alway have a soft spot for Peperboy

I rented Darkwing Duck, Contra, street fighter 2 , UMK3 & spent a fortune on goldeneye, I could of bought 3 copies back in the day 😆
That awesome! I just got my butt kicked by Street Fighter 2 the other day hahaha Goldeneye was the bomb! That’s hilarious, they made bank on rentals on that bad boy for sure!😂😂
