- Philips Fidelio X2HR Review. I do a comparison of the Philips X2HR vs SHP9500. I believe is the best gaming headset in 2021. The SHP9500 is the best headset for gaming in 2021 but is the Fidelio X2HR better? The SHP9500 is also the best BUDGET headphone but is the Philips Fidelio X2HR the NEW best budget gaming headset? The SHP9500 or the X2HR with the VMODA Boom Pro Mic is the best gaming headset for under $100. Currently the Philips X2HR and SHP9500 is the best headphones for $100 or under $100. I think it's the best headphones for music, gaming, entertainment. I also believe it's the best headset for FPS, best headset for Valorant, best headset for Warzone, best headset for CSGO. Best headset for footsteps audio. Check out my review of the best headphones of 2021 or the best budget headphones in 2021.

i am looking at buying at a pair of these and appreciate your video, very well made thanks!
Such a great comparison man, love both of these headphones!!
Good review. I think you need to turn the sensitivity on your mouse up
Got my X2HR 2 Days Now . Very Impressed With The.SoUnD even better than my shp9500 .
Excellent video, you’ve earned a new subscriber & answered all of my questions. I have the SHP9500 but just miss the bass that I’ve read the X2s will provide. I know you mentioned that a dac/amp isn’t required for the X2s in the video; however, just curious if you still think that’s the case after you’ve had a little more time with the X2s.
If you want something to start with id recommend the apple usb-c to 3,5 mm adapter, it's the only product from apple I can recommend. It works a bit like a budget dac/amp, giving you 4 times more power. before I used the dac I were often at 100% volume but after using the dac im sitting at 20-30% volume. Also i am using a v-moda boompro microphone, effetively turning it into a headset with none of the negatives
@@WubbaLubbaDubsThanks a lot!
Great video
If you are primarily using them for gaming, is it worth buying a amp for the extra boost?
I have the X2HR which are plenty loud using Apple dongle into iPhone. Would getting a quality dongle like Fiio K5 improve the sound?
So what u decide to do ???
Keep those and use them as main or return to 9500 ???
my second set in 3 years, i love the sound but the swivel pins on the cups break super fast for me, I do not think I will get a 3rd set
I have the 9600's now. They are very comfortable and sound good. However, the more X2HR reviews I see, the more convinced I become to return the 9600's to Amazon and buy them! Good review!
I'm getting the X2's on monday and have been using the SHP9500's for about 5 years now, I'll let you know how they compare :)
@@buddon how are they bro

The Phillips SHP9500 Are AweSomeNess PerSoNiFied When I Use Them With My HIBY S9 PRO DAC/AMP DONGLE
Plz tell me - is i9t better than M50x , i need open back with m50x sound ?
So, I have myself a pair of SHP9500. Does the X2HR sound different enough to justify grabbing a pair, or should I just stick to my 9500?
Hi! Nice review, I have one question though. Is it Cable + Bluetooth?
only cable
will the weight of x2hr fatiguing to play a long time?
Do you still have it? or you changed it with something else?
I like my SHP9500s, but I don’t get how some say they’re better than the Fidelios.
I recently bought these headphones for 75 USD on amazon from a seller. I got it at such a good price I thought I got scammed. Got the headphones and I feel like they're real but the price is just too amazing. What's the chance that I got a fake pair of these headphones?
so an amp isnt required to get the full sound quality out of these? thats the main thing im unsure of thats keeping me from buying them right now, worried about not getting the full experience from plugging straight into my phone or pc
Which one should i pick and x2hr is your main now? I do also only play competitive fps games like csgo and valorant. How does both headset hold up? Thanks!
I like both but strictly gaming especially csgo/valorant 9500.
i listened 4our a day music with this headphone for 4 years and it was great!
Hey man, I've had the 9500's for little while now and love them. There are a set of X2HR's and a set of Hifiman HE400i's available locally for around the same price (used because new is way too $$ here in New Zealand). Anyway, I was erring on the side of the Hifiman as a solid step up from the 9500's based on reviews but now you've got me thinking about the X2HR'S again!
Your thoughts regarding my first world problem would be greatly appreciated. Basically it's planar vs dynamic drivers. Thanks
It depends what you'll be using them for. Music, gaming, a little bit of everything?
@@aaron_kim Thanks for your reply Aaron. Mostly music, EDM, metal, rock, pretty much everything except for country music! 😂 😂 😂
@@TheTruthKiwi These for sure then!
So I’m picking between the shp9500 and the x2hr and I’m a competitive gamer but I like my music as well but more comp so which one?
x2hr. If you only gamed, I would suggest the shp9500. The x2hrs are better for music.
is X3 better please?
how's the comfort comparison though, you only mention briefly the 9500 are lighter? Will that be more suitable for a big head
Both are comfortable but I'd give the edge to the 9500's since they're much lighter w/ less clamp.
A $78 SHP9500 or a $205 X2HR? Here where I live the price difference is quite big!
Hey man, I’m really interested in purchasing these headphones. I have a quick question, for gaming (specifically fps) are you able to determine footsteps well. You mentioned you could hear exactly where the enemy was coming from but could you determine the position of height the enemy was at. Like whether they were above or below you.
Yup! I used to play a lot of competitive CS for like 18 years, you can't go wrong with these or the shp9500.
@@aaron_kim thank you so much, I will definitely purchase these when I move over to pc
I think I gotta upgrade my M40X..what do you think?
If you want move on to open backs yeah I think that'll be a good idea. I think you'll love these.
What is your source the headphones use real leather? I was interested in X2 but real leather is a deal breaker
Why?
I bought a set of X2HR when on sale. The reviews were great and the price was good enough that they were worth a punt. I tried them on my iPad and was not impressed. I tried them on my iPad via a Dragonfly Red and they were much much better. I tried them on my Yamaha RN-803D and Denon AVR X3400H and they were still not doing for me. I was about to purchase some Beyerdynamics but before I did I thought I would give them another go. Plugged them back into my Yamaha RN-803D, put on a mastered and lossless George Michael album via Airplay but this time pushed the amps Direct Source button. Saved myself couple hundred pound! These things are transformed. Yes, massive soundstage but the base is way less muddy and just about spot on. The mids are full of presence and rich and the highs are beautiful and not tiring. It just shows that with these types of headphones, you need a flat, as recorded source. Oh and they just get better the more you crank them up. 👍
Nice!
lmao you just got used to the sound.
@@SakuraMorandi The difference was immediate. If it is the case you just get used to the sound then what is the point of Hifi? Why not just some generic crap amp, some generic crap headphones and just get used to the sound? What a stupid answer 🤔😂
I bought my SHP9500 for $35 about 4 years ago. Best $35 I've ever spent.
I got mine recently and I never realized how much I miss bass from my music after using the SHP9500 for 2 years. Might EQ to get back those mids that are a bit recessed. Have you considered getting an external DAC/Amp for them?
I'm thinking about it! But my onboard is a ALC1220vb which I think is sufficient enough for these. But yeah I'm with you on the bass. These just made everything so much more enjoyable.
You will bankrupt me Aaron,I have the shp 9500 because of you haha
@@jasonemanuel9070 if you already have the shp9500 keep it. As I said, for the price and comfort it can't be beat!
@@aaron_kim Haha no way Aaron,im going for these as well.
I was only joking about been bankrupt, fantastic vids!
I've tightened the clamp force very slightly on my 9500's,as the clamping force was just a tad to loose for my medium size head 😁
This or Drop+Sennheiser PC38X Gaming Headset?
Pc38x for fps games. But these are more immersive and super fun sounding. Music is incredible and does well for me in fps. These have a super wide sound stage and bass punch is perfect but downside is you'll need a separate mic (if you need one).
The weight was stopping me from this. So going with Audio-Technica M50X. Almost twice lighter.
Just picked up a pair for $129
Are footsteps easier to hear Aaron,im not that bothered about bass
They're just as good. They feel wider and more fun to wear.
Xbox wireless Bluetooth ...give them a chance..and they are wireless I have tried 9500 and astro with mix amp and dt9500 as well but kept Xbox one's
@@aaron_kim are you sure? Apparently they’re bad for competitive shooters.
@@aaron_kim they are really good,so glad I upgraded,I recently purchased the akg k712 pro, they were better for music, but not for gaming!
Long term how are these holding up? I really want to get one of the 2 but I heard they don't last for very long
Still going strong! Just don't toss them around. Be good to them and they'll be good to you :D
@@aaron_kim I ended up ordering them (X2HR) I was going to go with the shp 9500s but generally when it came to reviews most people who have used both the 9500s and X2 usually would say that the X2 was a upgrade. I'm hoping that's true and they don't disappoint
@@Hobo323 are you enjoying them?😁
@@jasonemanuel9070 they're not bad and they look almost brand new, not a huge fan of the sound as they tend to sound a little hollow. I ended up ordering the sennheiser 58x and they'll be arriving in a few days
@@Hobo323 ahh cool,I'm rocking the audeze penrose as well now!
Thinking of getting some of these, just wondered how the vmoda's held up with this open back design? Did you have any issues with audio bleed while gaming and on discord for example?
No bleeding for both!
@@aaron_kim Hey there, I have a SoundblasterX G6 and I wanted a great pair of all-round headphones to pair it with. I'm extremely confused between the Fidelio X2HR and TYGR 300R, I don't know which one to choose so I was hoping that you could help me.
Here are my requirements:
First of all, I don't care about competitive gaming (multiplayer/online fps) at all.
I only play single player, story-based games (like God of War, Red Dead 2 etc) and I also like watching movies as well.
So basically, what I'm looking for is *IMMERSION* above all else.
Any advice?
@@princesmith8008 Which did u get and how are they???????
@@ExitiumD I got the Fidelio X2HR and it sounds great paired with my G6. It has excellent bass and immersion.
@@princesmith8008 I have ordered the tygr today, so we went opposite routes. I hope I will like it, im anxious cuz its my first open back.
Yo can you use theses wire less or nah. Need to know
nah but there are gadgets that can do that, kinda expensive, could sale +100$ for 0 delay and sale sound q
Forget the Philips 9500, forget the 9600, too. Get the Philips Fidelio X2HR instead. Or else the Fidelio X3. 'Nuff said.
it's twice the price of SHp9500 , so it MUST BE way Better in everything
Just got Philips Fidelio X2HR. Very dissapointed after a few hours :( I dunno, I am just a normal gamer, can't tell much difference with X2HR and plain headphones from Philips :( Also, when I listen to music, all "ch" and "sh" sound very irritaiting :( The bass is very poor :( The sound is clearer and deeper but I dunno... quieter and sharper....? I had some strong bass headphones from target, like 10 time chepear and sounded much better :( I dunno, maybe it's not set right:( Dissapointed :(
Do they work with PS5?
Did you even watch the video
I can hear sheet 9500 lmao
The shp9500 are too loose
There is zero Bass i mean none at all
I just knocked out my girlfriend with the 50 driver end, she started to annoy me with buying these awesome headphones. :P lmao :DDDDD
jokejoke ;)
