John I am so sorry you have decided to cut back so much from your bee keeping. Watching your videos has inspired me to start beekeeping this season, I have learnt so much from your videos, thank you. I really liked the way you cared for the bees, and took time to make sure as few as possible were hurt while inspecting. I wish you and Lin all the best for the future, and hope you have fully recovered from your brush with Covid. I know how bad it can be, it took me two years to fully recover from it. I look forward to your next video whenever you can manage to make it.
Hi Frank , Lovely to hear from you, I’m sure i will be doing some more videos of my beekeeping antics soon, I’ve got so much I would like to share with like minded beekeepers, what a lovely hobby it is , I would never stop beekeeping, as I’ve only got 2 hives now, I guess we will be starting off this year similar, Anyway have a good year beekeeping, I’m always hear to help if you are ever unsure about anything to do with our lovely friends, the bees 🐝 John
Hi John and Lynn. Hope you are both well and recovered. I just wanted to say thanks again. Your videos inspired me to start beekeeping and just had my first full year and harvest from my 2 hives. I still love to watch and learn from your previous videos. Some keepers I’ve met are very cumbersome with their bees but I have adopted your gentle caring approach looking out for every single bee. Hope you are both well and hope to see you on the screen again soon.
Nice to hear from you again Neil , very nice hobby beekeeping, I am like you just 2 hives now I sold all my hives as we are both retired and on are travels beekeeping will always be part of my life but I did spend many days on my hobby it was time to cut down , thanks for your kind words John 🤓
Fantastic to see you both looking so well and enjoying life. Thanks John & Lin for bringing positivity and education with your videos. Keep up the honey tasting .. how special our honey bees are.
Hi Alvin , I was wondering how you were getting on, thanks for commenting hope everything is well with your family and your beehives, have a lovely year and see you sometime, regards John and Lin
Hi John Nice video and what a bumper crop it looks delicious. I'm going to try and get onto an oil seed rape crop next season. Great to see Lin out and about again. Take care a enjoy your camping trip Mike.
Hi John, the farmers near me all planted oil rape seed and I’ve had one of the biggest spring honey harvest ever 12 full supers each frame jam packed on langstroth super and some boxes of brood frames I think I’m looking at over 170 pounds of honey to much to know what to do with it all, I shall be knocking on these farmers doors with a few jars of honey for them, your harvest looked a good one John let’s hope this summer is a goodin we will all be swimming in the stuff. Thank you John and lynn for sharing your vlog with us mate.
Extremely nice to hear from you again Mark, sounds like you’ve done well with honey this spring, I’m sure your find a farmers market near where you live and it will go in one day the honey that is , I put mine on Facebook and lots of people knocked on my door , John
Delightful to see you both again . Welcome home .Yes john , I wish every customer could see this video . When the honey sets solid some people don't want to know , others , a few , say things like " This is what my grandfather used to give me , this is the genuine thing " We sell from the front door , and in the honesty box I offer both set and runny . When folks are offered choice , it's mostly the runny that goes . But we have found a busy little health food shop that WANTS the set honey and is selling it well , taking 2 dozen regularly . Although this year I split my 4 hives , creating 8 and I'm struggling to get enough to supply the shop .Roll on good weather . Thanks for posting John .
Hi Rodney, I also find customers like runny honey but also some prefer crystallised and ask for it , my conclusion is the Bees know that people like two different sorts and happy to produce it for us lol 😂 you done well splitting your hives , thanks for your comment I read it twice and find it very interesting when people comment in depth I have an idea what others are doing John 👍🤓
We enjoyed watching this summer video, the rape seed oil is tasty, we sometimes have it our selves. Nice bird song honey tasting, nothing better than a simple natural bit of life, honey on toast, coffee and bird song.
2 new beekeepers here, really enjoying your videos. We’ve learned so much from you already! Hoping you’re well and really looking forward to your next instalment. Julie and Iain
Really really lovely to hear from you both, and I hope you are enjoying Beekeeping , hopefully I will put some more videos up soon I am away on holiday at the moment again lol
What a beautiful blooming field. Wish I had something like that around my hives. I’m going to pull honey this coming week myself. Good to see y’all! Thanks for sharing!
Hi again Rodney , I find the Oil seed rape can cause some problems with crystallising, so I would in fact prefer not to have them rape fields near my hives then I could leave it till near the end of the year and collect all in one go no worries about crystallisation see you from John
Hi John, What a difference it makes where you live. The oil seed rape flowered early and it was still very cold up here so I got very little honey from it. Still roll on the summer. Great to see you both looking well.
Hi Keith sorry for the delay in answering your comment, myself and Lin have been away travelling for nearly a year, after selling a lot of the hives, we still have some and will not give up beekeeping , hope you are well regards john
What a great video John, really nice. I think ive had the perfect spring this year everything went just right. Not as much honey as I hoped 170lb of 6 hives from the Rape and may get another 30lb off this week. Ive checked them every week but this year still lost a couple swarms when splitting the colony due to Q cells. I think thats only 4 swarms lost in 13 years so not too bad. Also John I have stopped work this week, primarily to care for my Dad who has Cancer, I'm unlikely to return to work. Enjoy your camping. Kind regards. 🐝🌻🍯👍
Hi David, your Beekeeping activities this year sound almost identical to mine, I also lost a couple with swarms despite doing my best, it isn’t easy is it collecting honey I don’t think customers realise how hard it is how much work is involved , sorry to hear about your dad, when my dad was quite ill i used to give him porridge with honey in it each morning it is a joy to look after parents I Sadly lost my dad two years ago, I am still looking after my mum who is 90, anyway please give my kind regards to your Dad and I am so happy you are able to look after him , John and Lin
Hi John. Just wondering when we are going to see you and Lynn again gracing our screens. Your videos are just so calming and informative and has helped me through the start of my beekeeping venture. Hope you are both well and hope to see you soon back on the youtube
Hi John, just checking in. Hope you had a lovely holiday . Just a little concerned everything is ok you haven't posted in so long. Don't feel any pressure to do so, but it would be good to hear all is well. Your passion and outlook has been a great inspiration to us. Love to you both. x
Hello and thank you for commenting, appreciate your concern, unfortunately we both suffered from a very bad dose of Covid, I decided to drastically reduce some of my hives but hope I will be back on videoing at some stage, thanks again from John and Lin
Hope all is well with you and lin. Having sadly lost my bees last winter I am up to one decent sized colony plus one nuc, hope they get through the winter ok. Lots of beekeepers in my area had issues last winter. Hope doggo is ok also, our Rumanian street dog has an easy life, but a bit wary of the bees. Look forward to your updates. Peter
Hi Peter, we are okay thanks but went through a bad dose of Covid, I ended up selling most of my bee hives as too Ill 😷 to continue with it , I now have only two hives , I will do a updating my channel soon I hope , I still like beekeeping very much, John & Lin

Hello John . I missed your vids this year ! Are you transferred to some other medium ? Mark you it may just be that you have finished posting , having shared all that you find interesting . That would be a shame John , since there is always new stuff to marvel at when the hives are inspected or a conversation ensues . Normally when there is about 10% of the flowers left, but I check the honey if it does not shake out of the frame I collect it then before it crystallises , this also depends on the weather, as if it is raining a lot and the bees stay in the hive it does tend to crystallise then , regards John 🤓
Hello Peter, still not seeing too good Lin is still blind in one eye still, but half sight in the other so we are making the best of things enjoying our lives, hope you have a lovely year with your family thanks for commenting John & Lin 🤓👍
John & Lin, Just bottled our Honey from the Oil Seed Rape, great taste. What do you say to the customers about the crystallization. This Honey changes so quickly in the jar when bottled.?
Hi Paul , I do try and tell the customers it crystallises quick, and to worming the jar in hot water will soon make it cream consistently and they all seem to like it , I never had complaints and they always come back for more , I do also put in in a worming cabinet sometimes if it goes hard as rock in the jar , John
Hi Emma, it’s not very good of myself I should have put up a video explaining why I’m not about, myself and Lin needed some time to relax so we sold a lot of our hives , we’ve been on a good amount of holidays as we are now pensioners , but we will be back next year with some interesting hive activities ie queen rearing easy ways we have learned over the years , happy Christmas to you from John and Lin
