first video I've found genuinely explaining how to set up a 3 stage filtration system. Everyone else just brags about skimmers and sumps or the absence of them lol.
Thank you for the excellent advice Aaron. Great 6 part video. I was debating between multiple tanks and finally chose this one after seeing all 6 videos. I used the link you provided in your description to purchase from AMNZ; hope they give you some compensation for it.

I’m glad your giving this mini reef tank a go because I’ve been wanting to get one for a while but wasn’t sure if it was going to be any good because of the small price tag! So I’ll keep watching to see what you think and how you get on☺️
Great channel and series, I've bought a tank similar to the fluvial only down to no one having this in-stock at the time. I ended up getting the aquamanta nano 60, a little bit more money but a very nice tank. Fluval nano series has really helped me get set up. Gotta get me one of those salt telescopes. It's reminds of a light saber 👍
Looks like a mini version of The Wife lol. Great video for any newbie to the hobby Michael. Very well explained, and kept it simple and straightforward to the point 👍🏻
Hi ...I noticed you put the heater in the same section as the filter. Is that safe as I have this exact same tank and would benefit room in the tank if I can do the same, thank you in advance..love the bids bud
Hello, and what happened to that wonderful aquarium with canister, what did you tell us was the best? now you change to an aquarium with side sump. and the canister is no longer useful? could you explain that?
I like the look of that wavemaker and a reasonable price too. I’m interested in the In-Tank unit but can’t believe how much that is, basically 5 flat bits of plastic that slot together - I’m surprised no one has come up with a much cheaper option as anything is better than the foam. I’m interested in how quickly you can introduce fish with the Colony quick cycle liquid and ultimately how many fish you think you could reasonably maintain in the tank. Great videos though, definitely a popular product to run through on You Tube
Hey.. this has been a great series. Question though: when looking at buying rocks, what weight of rock would you recommend for this tank? Just so I don’t buy to little or to less of it
Loving these videos!! However is it not an issue that the heater for the tank basically touches the wires of the pump in the back?? I’m having a hard time finding a heater that fits back there!
I failed terribly with this tank. Probably spent close to $1K on equipment & livestock (fish & corals). No matter what corals I placed in this tank they all died. I replaced the stock pump, light, filter racks, added a skimmer & nano wave maker. I even setup a refugium with an external LED light. However, I found that this tank always ran hot. It was a constant struggle! I gave up on adding corals until eventually taking my losses & dumping the tank altogether. Worse purchase I’ve ever made. 😒
Thanks for the info, looking at this tank, Questions might sound abit thick here, but when you start to fill up, you did 3l + salt .. do you this for you full fill up of the 35l or just once?
I started with this tank great starter all you need is heater and circulation pump. Now the lid does not allow great ventilation and light is to close to water level and evaporation occurs faster I’d remove lid and run a light without it
Hello, I’m from South Africa and watching your videos they are so interesting and really helpful. Just wanted to know did you use live sand or dry sand for this tank? Which would would you recommend?
Another great video mate, ive been looking at getting a nano and tempted to get this for a yasha pistol shrimp pair as id rather have them in their own tank rather than getting lost in my community reef.
Hey Aaron great content thanks. I watch the series on the Fluval a few times now . I've had the tank now for about a year but just set it up today. The rock was dry and the sand was packaged in sea water, I filled the tank with bottled sea water purchased at the aquarium supply store that has salt and bacteria in it . If you can tell me what fish i can choose from for this tank size. I see you have the clowns and they are beautiful but what other fish can thrive in this size aquarium? Thanks.
Great video Michael! Here's a question! My LFS has RO/DI salt water that is ready to buy and bring home. They also have dry rock that they put in a tank and cycle with bacteria. Would you recommend buying the salt RO/DI water? Or just make you own? Additionally, would dry rock that's at my LFS that been cycling with bacteria be just as questionable as live rock? Should I just start with non-cycled dry rock straight into my tank? This was probably the most informational video about a sump that I have found yet! Very informative!
I'm just setting up my first Nano reef, filled it yesterday after converting from a freshwater tank. Always wondered about the water, but luckily we have just moved to Perth and have a great clean beach near by to top up containers with clean ocean water. I want to know what you are going to put in chamber 1, as I am thinking of upgrading the 3 stage filtration at the back, and also getting an RFG to help with the flow.
Justin Clark if you use fresh sea water you really are going to screw up your aquarium wind unwanted disease and critters. You should only be using RO water to make your seawater
@@Jack-cn8im it's not an instant cycle as such, but does speed things up dramatically and keeps the ammonia levels down if you're doing a fish in cycle. although in my experience the nitrites still stay pretty high through out the cycle, but they're less harmful than the ammonia. Thank you for the informative video Aaron. I need your help. I love these videos, extremely helpful! I have a quick question. If I can’t acquire a wave maker, would installing a random flow generator do the trick for my corals?
That should do the trick just fine depending on the corals you have. The dimensions of that tank are compact enough to where a wave maker may be overkill in conjunction with the existing return pump flow. Just pay attention to your dead zones and you should be golden 👌 hope this helps
