  • Time for a Halloween episode!
Here lies the Claymation Comedy of Horrors, one of three holiday-themed specials produced by Will Vinton in the 1990s. We explore the plot and some historical background on Vinton and Laika Studios.
    About FFF:
I've been doing FFF for many years in a live, at-convention clipshow form, but I decided to take the plunge and start sharing with the internet at large why I love so many of these animated movies and shows so much. There's always something new to find, and I have oodles of things I want to talk about with you all!

There's something mesmerizing about this animation. Some movement looks buttery smooth, other movement looks weirdly zippy and abrupt. It's like you never know how something is going to behave.

2:45 The creature from the black lagoon kind of resembles Abe the Mudokon from the Oddworld series.4:30 This looks like a Claymation Care Bear. Claymation has always given creepy vibes that cannot be recreated with CGI. I guarantee the 1994 film "Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb" will scar you for life.

You gotta review Gregorry’s Horror Show! It’s the perfect halloween special. It has many furries and a pink lizard nurse who is very… “flirty”.

Another place you’ll see a mention of Gaudi is the bizarre cartoon “Howdi Gaudi”, set in a Gaudi-influenced world and whose three human-looking protagonists are actually anthropomorphic… chimneys.

Commenting for the algorithm. I feel blessed it randomly dropped this channel in front of me, now I want to do what I can to get it in front of others.
Depending on the currently Friday the Thirteenth lore, Jason might be immortal. I think he's sort of a mix of a Deadpool situation (he's a giant, mass-multiplying tumor) and some good old demonic infusion. And since tbis character has a chainsaw, maybe some Leatherface influence, who is mortal. But the guy from Splatterhouse is a chainsaw-wielding hockey mask dude, who is, I believe, demonically empowered. So, that dude could very well be immortal. In addition, evolving times and ideas have given "natural" supernatural entities like gill-men and werewolves, age-immortality. You can kill them but they won't die of old age. See: Hotel Transylvania.

I knew most of the stuff surrounding Will Vinton but had blanked on how dirty he was done by Nike.

Wait a minute....did this studio also do an Easter special? I vaguely remember this style as a weird one with a human trying to be the Easter bunny in this EXACT style.

So just some notes, obviously wilshers a scam artist, so hes modding a carnival ride to literally shake down potential customers. Vince's frightful transformation i believe are a result of whatever mumbo jumbo is attached to Frankenswines book. While unspoken, it's a certainty that if the two would be unalived if they didn't get a Franken Ex Machina

I do hope you plan to visit his Claymation Christmas and Easter specials as well. He did three of these and, if memory serves, the Halloween special was the middle movie of the three holiday specials. The first was Christmas around 1987-1988 and the last was Easter done sometime in 1992.
As an additional of trivia for the other two, this and the Easter Special were worked on at the same time and supposedly share the claymation maquettes for Vince and Wilshire as well as a few other models that were used for some of the Raisin's specials
The Christmas special on the other hand showcased, in my opinion, one of the most impressive and unique claymation techniques out there for the song "Joy to the World", known as clay painting pioneered by Joan Gratz. The striking look of that sequence was achieved by back-lighting the clay and doing the entire sequence against panes of glass. Not a super furry factoid, but I hope an interesting one nonetheless.
