It's been a long time coming, but I finally put together an episode on dragon commercials. Most of these are lost to time and found only through extensive digging, with even the most famous of them achieving vanishingly little recognition in the furry fandom. It's unfortunate, because some of these cuties are designed and animated just as lovingly as the more popular dragons you see time and again.
Dragons feature as prominently in advertising as they do in other media because humans are just fascinated with these guys. I've put together a list of ten hot-breath hotties (do people still understand sarcasm?), but you'll see much more than ten commercials here... be dragons

I'm pretty curious where the whole fat dragon design trope comes from.
@@ElizabethLazuli I was talking with some friends recently and this topic came up. Most believe the pear shaped dragon being popularized by the 1941 film The Reluctant Dragon produced by Walt Disney based off a short story of the same name written in 1898 which features a friendly, peaceful poetry loving dragon. While fat dragons are probably older then that there was a trends of making soft, friendly dragons in contrast to how they were traditionally depicted in the medieval period. So the Disney version really nailed down the kind of pear-shaped/friend-shape that we now often see in many dragon and dinosaur designs.

The La Choy Dragon, yep! I wanted to spotlight animated dragons for this video, but he's pretty great too.

Love the continued Top 10 Commercials series, too. Would you say they take more or less research/prep than your vids on solo TV shows?
I would say more, but I cut myself off from going too deep. Some of these things lead to real rabbit holes, but the internet has become an active detriment to research in many ways. It's a bit of a wash, but they definitely feel easier to put together!

He's been in a supportive role but I'm slowly getting him to come out of his shell!

As a car person, I'm very pleased to see the Listerine "Clifford" race cars featured in this video! The 1992 BMW car was also the driver's championship winner that year with Tim Harvey driving, netting BMW 2nd place in the manufacturer's championship. Due to the provenance of the car, that lovely pink Clifford will continue to be preserved along with the car for many, many years!

As someone who's never heard of Clifford, I'm shocked that a character from the 80s looks so feminine despite being male! That was brave of them back then!
Just goes to show you being pink with eyelashes doesn't automatically make a character a girl!

omg! i totally reciprocate the "oh god i can't express this interest while people are watching with me" feeling!! it happened so often when i used to watch tv with my family, especially when my kinks occurred in cartoons frequently. 😵💫
on the topic of reptiles, i think y'all would enjoy looking into the flintstones commercials for a japanese credit union. they eventually evolved into original animations featuring cute scalie characters! the name escapes me but they're worth checking out u.u

33:10 cars are my speciality, so I'll try to expand on what's been provided here:
first of - british touring car championship, britain is in europe yes, but that's two different events, don't get it twisted, now for the cars, first one's a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, raced from late 1987 (one of the first adopters of the Sierra Cosworth) to 1990 under the Listerine-Texaco Racing team, best results in 1990 placing 6th in class and 11th overall, and the other car is a BMW 318iS (E36) with M Team Shell Racing, placing second in the manufacturer's championship in 1992

Okay... There is only one way to describe your dashing host. Fly. The waistcoat and robe are chef's kiss perfect for a class dude. Adding the lounging fez makes me miss my own lounging fez. It fell off a luggage cart at a furry convention and walked away with the help of some sticky fingers, I'm guessing. Anyway, rotund gentlemonsters always look best when classed up with the right attire. He reminds me of the bear from Tom Poes, appropriately known outside of Europe via the dub of "The Dragon Who Wasn't (Or Was He?)" A great anthro movie based on a great anthro comic, with a dragon.

when i think of commercial dragons, my muppet-obsessed mind always goes to Delbert the La Choy Dragon! he was initially built as a live-hand puppet but became a full-body puppet (that Frank Oz notably HATED performing)... he even had a little inflatable toy~!
also, i'd LOVE to see a top 10 pigs in commercials! love these awesome round-ups~
Yeah the La Choy dragon is cute! I usually lean more into animated characters but there are a lot of neat puppets out there.

There was one dragon that was used for a debt relief ad in the 1980's or 1990's but I can't find it any where now. I have a early dragon in a print advertisement feldspar soap 1934. Ladies Home Journal The ad called it a wash dragon. no name given for it. Came with a coupon for a soap shaver or something like that for 5 cents. Also ever here of the "Golden Dragon" It's thed one used for the International Date line during WWII and WWII

In 2003, there was a Drayton Manor advert featuring a dragon (no name given); where a few knights try to catch the dragon flying through the air by using a catapult and a net.
The chief knight lets his teammates know of the dragon's presence. One gulped and another screamed while the lid slid shut on his helmet.
"Take aim," the chief said. But then the trebuchet starts rolling down the path.
"OH, NO!" one of the knights screamed, as the net flew through the air and right onto him, trapping him at that point. The catapult finally rolls into a pool of water at the bottom of the path, where the other knight, who was on the trebuchet, was also submerged into the water. He slaps the water in frustration as the dragon lands on the wall at his own will.
The dragon then turns to the camera and asks the audience, "Will they ever learn?" before firing across the camera. The advert ends at the Medieval English background and with the spoken words: "If you want to catch a dragon, visit Excalibur at Drayton Manor."
