You can easily swap in a JDM Camry V6 and only modify 2 motor mounts. It was a popular swap back when I had an MR2. It will also drop weight with the swap and it’s a Toyota motor so you can still register the car in California

@@JasonMcMullen absolutely! I run an RB25DET in my skyline, but if I had an Mr2 I'd 100% go for the k20 top k24 bottom with forged internals with a turbo.

Definitely keep it Toyota! Small engine bay tho, I'm not sure what would fit. I wouldn't think an I6 or a V6 would be an option

5SGTE is the coolest build. It combines the strong block from an NA 5SFE to the high flowing 3sgte head...can take more than 700whp. (Forged internals)

Or what would be a really cool and unique engine, would be the 3.5 Liter EcoBoost that the Ford F-150’s run. The power they have stock in a large truck is amazing, but if you slapped some bigger turbos and better exhaust, that thing would be crazy!

MR2 motor swap idea? OK: 2GRFE. 300 Horses out the box NA with tons of torque and will cost about 7k for the entire thing.
Better than any 3SGTE

I own an SW20 and hope to see what else you guys do to this MR2. A V6 swap would be interesting.
Well obvious choice would be a k series honda because of the aftermarket following for that swap, but if we’re shooting for unique? A fwd sr20det swap back there lol ooh or maybe a honda v6?
20b, K series, 1jz, subie boxer engine, last but not least (my favorite idea) S2K twinturbo

If I remember right the Turbo models had a raised section that was louvered or vented on the deck lid. I think you should consider something like that for a body mod.

Looks good! For the swap, maybe a 3mz-fe, but that probably won’t fit without some serious trunk cutting😉 but that would give you an excuse to mount the radiator in the back. If you don’t plan on keeping it in the family, then maybe a C30A from an NSX?
Although these will throw your balance off and be @ss heavy.
Now- It would be sick to throw a 4G63 knowing those can easily make over 500...man, that actually sounds like a good idea! How loud will THAT sound?!?
My first choice of engine would be a beams 3SGE or porsche trans rear mounted 13B.

Find a way to grab the new twin turbo 416HP V35A-FTS engine out of the LS500. Also check out Wilhelm Raceworks for suspension stuff!
i would say don't go too crazy with the engine swap, but if you do, see if the Toyota Tundra engine will work, or a turbo Beams engine or the 2.2L -2.4L built turbo engine. the V6 is cool too.

4g63 from an evo would be pretty cool. No idea if it'll fit but it will probably hold big power. K series Honda with a turbo would probably be safer and still pretty neat.

Did GReddy give you the metal brackets for the skirts? They extend out into the rear wheel well for that bottom bolt fitment.

Audi's 2.5 TFSI Five Cylinder or VW 07K turbo they should fit nice in a MR2.
There has to be som crashed TT`s or RS3`s in some of the junkyards around you guys.
Do the v6 swap its not as common but 10000% cool. Smoking tire has a v6 mr2 episode.
Has to be a supercharged V6, perhaps the exige engine. OR VW VR6 motor.
