    We Swedes avoid going to Gothenburg by car. Its a complete chaos🤣 Its so bad, that you can be driving around in circles in the city and dont find your way out. Fika - its very important here. Where i work everything stops. Another nice video - Thank you☀️😀

      I don't blame you for avoiding that 🤣 It's certainly a heck of a driving time lol. Fika is amazing and I really want America to pick it up 😂. Thank you so much, and you're very welcome 😁

    The right to roam and "allemansrätten" is a very old tradition. It is mentioned in some medieval county laws (landskapslagar) and these are based on pre-medieval (i.e. Viking Age) tradition. Basically "no one owns nature" - we never had a feudal state in Sweden, that has never changed.

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  6 месяцев назад

      Fascinating! I didn't know that about the lack of feudal states, that's really interesting.

    Thanks for great series. Most people do use cars i the majority of sweden. Though In the bigger cities its more practical to use public trasportation on daylie basis and then rent a car when you need one.

      You're very welcome 😁. That is what I have learned yes. It's actually really awesome that there is such a great transportation system in place to make it possible to not own a car. I wish our transportation systems out here were that great.

    For Your next visit - You should head north. Either in the deep winter if you like the snow, but in the middle of the summer, it's just magic up here. The sun never really sets so you can see it 24/7 for a few weeks (Depending how far north you go, ofc.) But be prepared - You will change your mind about not needing a car. ;)

    • @candytechadventures

      I was hoping to go north on my next visit for sure! I would like to visit both in summer and in winter up there. Why will I change my mind about not needing a car? I figured a good travel van would go well in the summer.

    • @tilltugg
      @tilltugg 5 месяцев назад +1

      Well, there's a lot of empty space up here.. smaller cities and so on, so the infrastructure for public transport is not as 'evolved'. But You'll be fine with a travel van.. at least it's a vehicle. :)

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  4 месяца назад +1

      Ah, understood. True, at least it's a vehicle lol and one I can also sleep in hahahah.

    When you fill petrol in Sweden you will notice that the pump for diesel has a handle with a wider pipe compared to the petrol pump handle; thus it isn't possible to fill diesel in your petrol engine car (the opening for the petrol tank is not wide enough).

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  6 месяцев назад +1

      Oh I didn't notice that. I was just told not to grab it because it was the wrong one hahaha. That's good to know that there is a safety catch in place for those who may be are tired or distracted.

    Ginger shot: Boil half a gallon of water, let it cool down to about 60 degrees Celsius/140 F. Take about 200 grams/7 ounces of ginger and grate it. When the water is at 60 C/140 F, put all the ginger grate in it. Let it soak for 20-30 minutes. Take two lemons and press the juice, put the juice in there. Take a tablespoon of honey and stir it down into the pot. Sift it and pour it in bottles kept in your fridge. Better than the hotel version ;-)
    Gothenburg is ridiculous to drive in, it's used as a warning example among european city planners of how not to do things. Even just passing through there will be the worst thing you've ever experienced in terms of lack of logic. It's designed only to fit those who live there and have learned every lane by trial and error.
    Örebro isn't perfect but you have a chance...

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  5 месяцев назад +1

      You are amazing!! Thank you so much for the ginger shot recipe!!
      Well at least it's used as an example to help make sure we don't design another city poorly. At least we are learning from mistakes there. Trail and error sounds like a horrible way to learn how to drive there, but it makes sense hahah.
      Better than no chance hahah.

      @@candytechadventures Lemon juice and honey goes in last, the temperature will drop to about 40 C/105 F while the ginger grates is soaking, that's as high the lemon and honey can take without destroying "the good stuff" in them. This will keep you healthy if you take just like 2 fl oz a day.
      Every Stockholm'er have a story from that one time they visited Gothenburg (if they ever did) by car, and made it back home to tell the story. :-) Not even the taxi cabs in Gothenburg knows to find their way, once they left me on the wrong side of a freeway saying "this is as close I can get" because the driver were as clueless as I was about how to go there (although it was in the midst of an industry area next to the railroad)

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  5 месяцев назад

      Ah okay, noted. Don't want to destroy the good stuff that's for sure.
      🤣They survived to tell the tale! Wow, that's pretty bad when the local taxi drivers there don't even know how to navigate it.

    Hey! Thank you for your Sweden videos. Yes, it has been enjoyable to see Sweden through your tourist eyes. But you were no ordinary tourist, you were well prepared and also have relatives here. Regarding the right of public access, you didn't mention that you can camp more or less anywhere in the woods🌲🌲 for one night in the same place. It's okay to hike in any forest. It's heaven for all hikers🥾 and campers🏕!
    Good luck with your new adventures and welcome back🛬😃.

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  6 месяцев назад +1

      You're very welcome 😁. Are most tourist not prepared when they come there? I feel like whenever anyone goes to a new country they should try to be somewhat prepared a bit. Of course I am an odd one hahaha. It did certainly help with having relatives there, that is very true. I'm hoping my video maybe helps someone who doesn't have family there to ask questions and be informed about things prior to arriving. Oh! I didn't know that was a part of the right of public access. I figured camping was a bit more grey area since crossing through vs camping on some ones property would seem a little more leaving of a trace to me since that means they need to use the bathroom hahaha. I would imagine it is lol. I'm hoping the next time I'm there I get to go do more of that 😃. Thank you very much! 😊

      @@candytechadventures Never been to the US, but heard the roads and traffic can be pretty horrible :)
      I think that driving in Gothenburg is so bad due to the large scale constructions that is being done in the city. That's not the only reason though. Gothenburg was horrible to drive in even before these constructions. The city is simply badly planned when it comes to car traffic, and one wrong turn will often lead to a huge detour.

    • @candytechadventures
      @candytechadventures  5 месяцев назад +1

      They absolutely can be depending on where and time of year (plus weather🤣). Where I live currently, it's labeled as one of the top 10 places in the US to drive in. Our car insurance rates are higher here due to it. I did notice that if you took a wrong turn that it would become a long detour. I did my best to avoid that hahaha.
