impressed of how thoroughly you planned the trip. Not "just" Stockholm or the Ice hotel.

Thank you for the compliment. I do tend to be a bit more thorough than most people I know when it comes to planning trips to certain places. Backpacking and camping are a bit more relaxed, but traveling to a new city or county I feel needs more preparation in order to cut down on anxiety and also get the most out of the trip as possible :). Not to mention Sweden has so much to offer besides just Stockholm. It would be a shame to limit yourself to just there. I completely forgot there is a ice hotel hahaha. When I hear ice hotel my brain goes to Finland or Iceland. I do very much want to get to more northern parts of Sweden, and see some of the national parks as well as perhaps the arctic fox preserves.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the speed. Casual is more my style indeed. Plus it's a good way to enjoy things when traveling 😁

12:14 Most grocery stores in Sweden have grocery bags right below checkout conveyor. A couple of years ago a tax was introduced on plastic bags so one bag went from like 2 kr to 7 kr, which lead to people starting to reuse bags or use a backpack for the groceries in order to save money. However paper bags are usually an option and they are not that expensive, around 3 kr.

I did get to learn that later on in the trip. The next morning before we left Vadstena we stopped at the grocery store again, and sure enough there they were. I guess I was too distracted by everything else that I didn't see them xD. Here in the US bag less has been becoming a more and more prevalent thing with the option to buy reusable bags. I'm a huge fan of reusable bags or using my backpack as well.

Lovely small towns of Sweden. Kalmar and Öland surely will be nice.

You pick up your grocery bag in the beginning of the cashier line.

Yes, I've learned that since. When I went originally I think I was just so distracted by everything that I never even saw that they had bags since they were under the counter.

"Saint Birgitta (ca. 1303-1373) was already famous for her piety during her lifetime. She founded a monastic order and was later canonized. Saint Birgitta is Sweden's most famous saint and is still worshiped by Catholics around the world." So, not munks but nuns.

She was a pretty impressive women from what I've read about her. The location in Vadstena I guess had both monks and nuns residing there. Nuns resided in one building while the monks resided in another (that's at least what was on the information boards and more while staying at the hotel). Not sure if that was after her time there or not though.
