- The plaintiff and her boyfriend moved into the defendant's basement apartment. However, the plaintiff claims the defendant is withholding her security deposit and owes her for items that were damaged in a flood, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff smoked marijuana in her home, and she had to evict her. The defendant denies owing the plaintiff anything. The defendant is countersuing for damages.

I was under the impression that if a plaintiff losses then then the channel pay for it, I don't know how it works if a defendant losses who pays
@@sisilyte7 all decisions are paid by the show. both plaintiff and defendant. you can find it on wikipedia or you can find it on youtube if you search for the end credits to the show.

So here's an interest bit of fact no one will fail a drug test because they smell marijuana. Some people are so stupid and paranoid about things they have no comprehension of. You could have actually had a real problem tenant instead of someone who smoked outside no inside and didn't trash the place or put you in any harm. The only person who did wrong in this case is the landlord.

In the state I live in it's both recreationally and medically legal. I have my med card so I can smoke not in my apartment according to my lease but I can smoke outside. But no one gives me troubles bc the surrounding people also have their med cards. Half this state have their med cards or smoke recreationally
I have personal experience with the whole cheap vertical blinds that fall off thing. The first apartment I lived in in Portland had like four or five of them fall off and fortunately that apartment did not charge me for them probably because they knew they were cheap cheesy things at the second apartment I lived in there only came off, and again I was not charged for that but both places had those cheap cheesy blinds. They really should invest in getting better quality ones that are less likely to fall off and then if they do fall off it's totally on the tenant, but the cheap cheesy ones Seem almost just fall off the drop of hat. You really don't have to do anything to make them fall off. They really shouldn't even exist
Well if the tenant reports it when it happens (and documents said report) then they may likely not be held responsible for it
The planttiff should've sued for the return of partial or all rent. The laws are very strict regarding renting out illegal property.

This is to typical of renting to tenants. They do not obey the rules and cause some minor damage. Then after they leave it is very very difficult to get them to pay for damages.
Renting an illegal apartment is very risky business. I hope the defendant got reported for renting an illegal apartment. Also, I hope the plaintiff keeps a watch on the apartment. She should report it when it is rented out again.

Even if the landlord defendant does have to replace the carpet because the tenant plaintiff damaged it, the defendant can only recover the cost of the used carpet at the time the plaintiff rented the apartment. She doesn’t get the cost of a new carpet.

I think this was biased. It was clear she was illegally evicted, had to pull teeth to get her stuff, and had damaged items. Then the defendant wants rent that she could not get, and for a month the tenant wasnt even there. How did she get over a grand for shit carpet? The plaintiff deserved her deposit minus a little for the burns and she deserved damages for what the defendant did.
