- Did you know ? Human Capital Edition - 2009. How technology influences and is influenced by Human Capital Management. Music by Steve Skinner - Punch it up.
Amazing research on the development and evolution from the industrial age to the information age and globalization.
Make an enquiry at www.PeopleStrem... for a Facts Sheet..
Response to the original shift happens production (Did you know ?). This movie was intended to answer some of the questions left by the original.
Movie developed and researched by Lyle Potgieter, Mark Middleton, Fabrice Ho Fi and Renee Thorn. - Наука
We agree but managers are already using social networking sites to check up on their employees, recruiters are using them to move people into new jobs, search engines are using them to sell ads and the ads are used to sell products and services. On many sites, the original intention of a purely social forum has already shifted to a blended mix of business and social interaction.
I thought I'd take a moment to point out the original Did You Know had a name attached to it, Karl Fisch, which appears to redirect to a blog about ways in which information systems are helping enable medicine. This video is attributed to Lyle Potgieter, who is CEO or KBD in PeopleStream, a business which provides software used in "all facets of Human Capital Management systems". You're watching a commercial from a bias source, which explains the techno music meant to GET YOU PUMPED FOR SUCCESS!
Awesome video! does anyone tell me plz, which music is this ??
Nice work! This is an incredible message. Despite the facts mentioned, the point is clear---Business must transform its people focus to remain competitive!
@Xadves Well spotted. In our next update we will change all references of Organisation to Organization to avoid confusion.
Got to love the music to this video.
The video is designed to be provocative and get people thinking about the influence of the BRIC economies on the current world order. We accept that none of that group may even want English to be their primary language - good point.
@17R3W We believe Canadians use a combination of American and British Spelling. For Organization you follow the American spelling, for colour you follow the British. Please correct us if we are wrong.
what software have you used to make this?
The (mis)spelling talk reminds me of how American-centric even thinkers can be. Thank you for all of this information. I will be using it in my research.
Guys, it's just an ad for office management software. That's what PeopleStream sells.
What software was used to make this video?
@HurdRandy we have a facts sheet available on request which includes all the references. If you would like a copy please make an enquiry through our web page.
social media websites have been shown to increase production by 9% (5-10 minutes per hour, if they put off a 5-10 minute time period for it, not if they check 10 times through the hour). google it.
also, find all the videos feat. michio kaku, one of them say "everyone is born a scientist, but our idea of becoming smart is memorizing lots of stuff, when in reality its concepts we need to know". there's only 4 fundamental laws of physics, so we're really starting on the wrong side.
Hi ervin2, the information was sourced from US and global research. We offer a fact sheet, which tells you where the information came from. Let us know if you would like a copy.
What's the song? Catchy as heck.
Nice movie. I would like to add, though, the very important--and often overlooked--fact that as machines perform more and more tasks, human work is less and less needed. We are evolving towards a system where there cannot be enough work for every individual. Indeed, the migration of jobs away from the 1st world into China and India is only temporary. Before long, they will migrate to computers and robots This carries huge implications.
Love,
America and Canada use a "z" and most other English speaking countries use an "s". Many references by web search on "american canadian spelling".
Our future video's will use American spelling.
@PeopleStreme
You're probably correct, because we spell colour with A u but organization with a Z.
Do the English (British) spell organization with a S?
@crni2764 You can buy the CD directly from the publishers website.
Music by Steve Skinner - Punch it up.
@geeiwonder It's an accumulation of all the time spent by everyone using social media per day. For example if 2 people used a social media site all day, they would accumulate 2880 minutes when added together..
Thanks for your quick reply!
Does this mean that aquatic sport equipment rental business I want to start down in the tropics is a good or bad idea....? Low tech for sure, but I suspect that there will be so many stressed out "human capital" units taking vacations in between their numerous employment assignments that it should make for a profitable venture......
@Pukekohekat I disagree. For me, learning another language, including English, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese has been one of the most useful tasks ever. It has provided me with different cultural models of thinking and therefore led my development. The Western and chinese languages are both examples of two completely different models of thinking which is one of the reasons learning both models is extremely valuable.
You wouldn't say "Don't learn English" to any one in Europe, would you?
Actually in the next 20 years it is pretty feasible that new technology that makes being skinny easy will converge and become widespread.
@PeopleStreme Then WHY at 3:52 does it spell it Organization? Suddenly change? And most of this video is just put in different words.
@BlackTnGurl I agree whole-heartedly. And what's weird is, many people don't see it like that. But this expansion of technology is going to leave us in the dirt. Technology is in fact becoming much bigger than us, just like you said.
A lot of the math is pretty sloppy. For example the spam cost calculation assumes that a manager spends as much time on a spam message as an important message instead of just clicking the delete button.
what is the name of the music?
The video is deigned to provoke thought, not manipulate people. We want people to think about how they can contribute to making a better future.
true, but human brains can shortcut and adapt, which computers may not be able to do as effectively for a long time.
What music is this? PLEASE PLEASE TELL!!!
What is the name of the song?
1:47 What? How can you estimate that?
lol, what did you use to write that sentace?
@getfunky79 How'd you make this account then?
@jbushue65 They're speaking of processing power. The amount of time it takes you to calculate something on average will be far slower then a computer.
@jbushue65 If it's programmed and updated by many different people from various experiencial and academic backgrounds, is it so unrealistic?
Interesting video, i like the music too
Truly Amazing!
Would be cool to talk to a computer who can actually wonder things and ask questions :P
Name of music please
organization, was originally spelled with an S. it was changed to Z later on.
I wish to add a comment to 1:43 of the video:
email is not the top of electronic communication, and i don't imagine i being dominant anytime, rather i think it will be replaced in the furure.

@DirectorJS well spotted.
What is the source of all these "facts"?

i wish that this rate of productivity will last. but, earth will not let it continue forever
Many Gen Y's are seeking employment with businesses which have strong social networking capability because that is the way they prefer to socialize. Refer recent news in The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, the Harvard Business Review (source: The Age, Nov 21, 2009)
this makes me glad i live in the woods and dont intend to leave i hate technology with a passion despite the fact that i'm using it as we speak do you really want to live in a world where machines control everything screw that...
information is spread out on the earth so us individual all hold a little part but the computer can hold all the knowledge
See comment by NieblaProductions.

If my boss ever sees this video I'm dead.
@yolotorres Music by Steve Skinner - Punch it up
@taooffire
Unless they are not working at work but instead are on myspace. Then it does become a productivity killer. Which is exactly what the video said.

@jbushue65 that applies only when when you compare the same number of individuals' intellectual that constructed the computer. the thing is that in reality people build computers with higher power to learn and calculate that us ,yet they learn as much as we input to them but we can input a learning ability such as filling the your username or suggesting searches in google but yeah you get the idea. the can but we prevent them basically "D
"We are experiencing a transition to a new world where People and Technology come together."
Where have I heard that before? Oh, that's right, my history book, on the Industrial Revolution!
Also, they used to make fun of you if you said robots were going to take over the planet. In todays world, it's a very real possibility.
it means that most of this is from the 2008 edition of the actual one
@Bigboss236 See comment by NieblaProductions. America and Canada use a "z" and most other English speaking countries use an "s". Many references by web search on "american canadian spelling".
Computers are not built by a single person they are built by the collaborative efforts of millions each contributing to a single part. By placing the collaborative effort of millions in one single entity of course it can out smart us.
18.5 billion mins? you mean the total add up of all workers or just one worker, because a day only have 86400 mins.
Its really informative...
@MrRighteousyouth1
aha, 'orgnasation' is used in England. you can confirm it by google.
This is sad... they used a pre-installed background for powerpoint... :/
@Bigboss236 Are you not aware that the "z" is exclusively an American (mis)spelling?
@gbella13 See comment by NieblaProductions. America and Canada use a "z" and most other English speaking countries use an "s". Many references by web search on "american canadian spelling".
Nice stuffs.
I'm not surprised india's major export is HUman capital, they are everywhere.
@Xadves you are my hero
you spelled organizations wrong?
0:40
it means people learning on the internet things not taught well in school or at all in school are at a huge advantage and world government in the future might be subject to pressure from internet communities. ( like on draw muhammad day)
what does it all mean ?
@TheMimileigh The CAPACITY of the human brain and ways of thinking are completely different. AI Experts today are quite sceptical wether or not they can actually create an AI that is capable of learning like a child within the next hundred years. Some have proposed this to be only possible with integration of computers into biological, neural networks. Biocomputers, so to speak.
incredible stuff is technology.. in December 2012 it will have been 20years since the first commercial text message was sent.. and think about over the 18years since that, how much technology has caught on from Nintendo DS to wireless xbox controllers, then to the Wii Motion sensors.. what will we have in 50 years time?...
@geeiwonder I'm not sure you're not kidding... but in that case, they mean cumulative minutes (if I spend 1 minute and my friend 1 minute at the same time they'll count it as 2 minutes)
@cervantesphantom You and I think alike...that's exactly what I tell people. I don't mind using technology to make life a little easier, but I also don't want to become "one" with it. That's where things can go terribly wrong.
organizations is spelled wrong at 38 seconds!
@wishmolly but if the computers do all the work it will use up all the planteets and suns energy 100x faster than right now so basicly we are screwed if that happens.
it collects information from other people meaning it gets smarter
@PeopleStreme
I thought we (Canadians) spelled like the English and not the 'mericans.
You know, colour with U and all that.
I dont usually send emails ... but my email is full of notifications.. like FB, youtube, etc they're responsible on this hahaha :DD
@jbushue65 it does not mean "smart" as in knows more then us. it means soon there will be a computer that can d more calculations then us, another words think faster then us. not necessarily smarter then us.
people vs technology..who wins the race..
Brettina you put minutes twice... and you fail to understand that if two people are using the same minute to do one action it is two minutes of each persons time.
What did they mean when its said that India is now the human capital? and awesome video
How seriously are we to take a video which misspells "organizations?"
@jhiam64 center and centre are two different works.
"what does this all mean?"
this means we're ruining the Earth as we go on.
But computers and microchip are being designed by computers for long time ago... Or you really think, that each one of that trilions of transistor inside was drawed by human?
@Bigboss236 Both words are correct.
thats true. I see less kids actually living a child hood and more or less being turned into adults at very early ages.
English is the language of the World. Us Americans British Canadians Aussies Zealanders, Irish and other assorted english speakers wont have to learn another language. the question is which english do we learn. American or British english. *which is very similar to the rest*
A lot of this information and their implications are misrepresentations of facts. The whole "organizations not using technology to predict when their employees will leave are five years behind" is particularly jarring. An experiment done in 2005 can't possibly be expected to become the norm (or even effective) instantly.
Oh, and I wonder how many of those Chinese English speakers speak it effectively.
wait...if theres a computer that outperforms the human brain...won't that mean that robots will take the jobe of humans and therefore create a greater drop in jobs then we're experiencing now?
@cjwardleUTube Fact sheet available on request. Pls email us
Ditto!
(Wait, dittos are definitely dated.)
@jbushue65 The result of multiple highly intelligent programmers putting their work into one system I would guess.
