Also fyi for anyone else, these switches complete the relay for the horn so without them the horn won’t work! I just ordered some new ones and installed thanks to this vid and everything works flawless now
I got excited about this because my horn stopped working a while back. Sadly this did not fix that issue. lol
Did your horn blow when you started talking the two screws for the airbag ? Mine is
My horn works and the cruise controls module on the left is ripped right off. The word are all still hooked up but the tips that connect to the board of the module are exposed and not connected to anything. It’s not a completed circuit. 03 ford ranger edge
@@craigfisher9713guess you skipped disconnecting the battery, hope the airbag didn't "blow" too ;)
Looks relatively easy. Definitely going to do this on mine. Thank you so much for posting. Great job.
Thanks for the great video! It made the task much easier and safer than if I had done it all on my own and gave me confidence to do it myself. If the wiring is still OK, there is no need to replace it. I didn't know this until I saw the video... I thought the wiring was permanently attached to the switch assemblies.
😂😂loved..watch the caps fly thru the cabin..and hit the camera a lot😂😂❤❤
I'll be ordering replacement switches (with cables) for my new (to me) 2001 Ford Ranger. The actual switches still work, but the covers have come off and they duct taped all but the buttons. I physically can't change it myself, but I'm pretty sure my local mechanic can with such a clear video. Thank you!
Great hack my ribbon connector is in good shape and I didn’t want to take the steering wheel off
I think I can do this!!! thanks for the info.
Appreciate it buddy; I’m going to try this.
I appreciate these videos bc I'm alone and living on disability. I cannot afford a mechanic so stuff like this I can do myself. I love my 98 Ford Explorer ❤ Thanks 👍
This video really help me, keep posting more
I certainly plan to. I'll be recording pretty much all the work I do on this truck as it needs it.
ground wire should go UNDER plastic mount tab
Having trouble pulling old cruise control switches off. Super tough
Same
@@hannap8494 I ended up replacing them. Cruise controls nice
Jumping in here late hoping for some guidance.. what were the steps you took to diagnose it was the switches? Thanks! Having a hard time figuring why my cruise control won’t work.
Hey there. In my case my switches were falling apart, so it was the logical first step for me when my cruise failed. I had also checked my fuses to make sure none of them were blown.
The linked switches dont list the 2011 Ranger as a compatible vehicle. How do you determine these are the correct ones?
Very helpful.. thanks!
Glad I could help!
Hey sorry super late to the video, hopefully youll respond. So i got everything back together and now I go to connect the battery and the alarm goes off and wont stop. Please help!!
All you need to do is with ur key fob is to click the unlock button and it should work or if u don’t have a key fob click the unlock button in the car the alarm always goes off whenever the battery is disconnected then connected
Muy bien explicado muchas gracias por el video me sirvió mucho
My horn quit working when my chips came out. Coincidence? If I replace these will my horn work again? Do you know?
Yea I’m pretty sure it’ll fix it. Check the top comment I’m pretty sure it answers ur question.
@@deuceparker6921 it will😂😂 I bought them like a week ago and it did! Fixed after 8ish years
Great video. Do you have the part numbers for the two cruise control switches for a 1999 Ford Explorer? Thanks
It should be the same ones linked in the video description.
F87A9D809BA and F87A9D809BB
Thank you very much.
@JoeMartinMVC is the wiring inside the steering wheel for the cruise control units? I don't have CC in my 2010 ranger, but would love to have it if all I need are these switches...
*1995-2003
Hey super late here but what radio do you have installed here and how good is it?
Oh man... This radio is circa 2014, an old Android head unit that I bought way back in the day. It works really well, but pretty much any modern android head unit is far superior to it.
@@JoeMartinMVC alrighty thanks man
Good Video I WISH You Vacuum The All AROUND
One day the truck will get the love it needs and be cleaned up and fixed.
So you chose not to replace the 20 year old cables that came with the buttons? Might have fixed your horn problem.
It didn't come with any cables.
The horn problem ended up being a bad ground, fixed that the other day when I was recharging the ac.
Will an 05 fit on an 01?
The cruise control module is the same from 1998-2011, so it should fit if you’re pulling one from an 05 to put on an 01.
@@JoeMartinMVC Thank You! Great video btw and I'm so excited about this not being a huge pain to replace lol
😂a question what are the tickets for
What tickets? I just scrubbed through the video and didn't see any anywhere.
Why is my horn blowing every time I turn the screws ? On both sides. I start to put pressure on the screw and BEEEEEP WTH ?
Probably should rewatch the video a little closer “disconnect the battery”
Soooo I did all this last night and everything worked fine and now this morning my truck doesn’t start😂
Did you fully tighten down the battery cables?
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
