    I did my best in this video to display what I've learned about wiring up a PID controller. As I mess around with the manual tuning I'll make sure to update this comment section!

    I spent the day looking for a decent and concise presentation on how to wire the Rex C100 controller. This was it. wish it were the only one to save looking through others that didn't quite hit the mark. Thanks for your efforts. Really helped me wire the thing - and it works . . . . so far.

    THANK YOU! I am having trouble getting my toaster oven to 450 degrees. It goes to 400 but won't go over that and I need, at least 450 degrees! I am going to try this as I really need to get to that temp.
    Again, thank you for the information and the clear, easy to understand instructions!

    I think your pid controller (and autotune) isn't working well because your thermocouple temperature isn't stable; it dances all over the place. Whether this is because of a loose connection, introducing different conductors or using the wrong type thermocouple for what the controller expects. I have the same controller and it is rock solid. The auto-tune will overshoot initially by A LOT on the first run, so set the temperature somewhere low (e.g. 200 deg), then try a normal run up to 200 and then see how it goes up to 300 and 400. Super great video btw, love the mix of wood, metal and electronics. Pure fun! :-)

    I can’t seem to find the video on how the wiring is done within the toaster oven itself

    • @RedBeardOps
      @RedBeardOps  8 месяцев назад

      You can just turn your toaster to max bake and have the box control the power to the oven. Or, if you are confident with wiring, you can direct wire the oven so that the power routes directly to the elements.... do at your own risk.

    Do you know if it would be possible to wire a kerosene/diesel blast furnace to a pid? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

      I really don't know for sure, but as long as you could control the gas with an electric solenoid... I think so

    Is a box to hold the PID controller needed or can I just let everything hang out? Im new to this sort of stuff and ive been making an electric coil furnace over the past few weeks.

      I'd advise getting a box. I updated this tutorial and used a plastic enclosure.

    I built one for my toaster oven thinking it would hold me at 375 for tempering knives and it will not hold it close enough. I thought it would keep it within 1 or 2 degrees. It is off more then not having one at all. Am I doing something wrong

    Hi J. I'm sure this question has been asked before. However, I'm all set to start building the updated PID controller. I was wondering what you have your settings are on your toaster. Thank you in advance. By the way, as huge thanks to you for educating me on all the knife build processes.

    • @RedBeardOps
      @RedBeardOps  3 года назад +1

      Hey P, In my case I bypassed all the toaster controls so that the elements get all the power when switched "on". If you don't want to mess with that just set the toaster on bake and max.

    Hi Thanks for the VID. I have been shopping PID controllers to try and overdrive the oven (same as yours basically) to hold around 300c/572f. with no modification it dose about 200c with the heater on about 1/3 of the time. my oven has no insulation yet. i figure with some insulation and having the heater on 3 times as much there is definitely room for more heat. but to not be too reckless I thought I should use a PID and not commit to full power. do you think this is doable? perhaps remove all plastics.

    • @RedBeardOps

      I really don't know; every situation can be a little different. I'd suggest trial and error, but be very careful...

    Are you just plugin in your toaster to the PID? What did you do about the temperature setting on the toaster? What are they set at? Or does it really matter? Thanks nice instruction!
