Thanks, I have an Aperio coming. Can you elaborate on which model lempenzator you used and what were the improvements adding it in the mix.
Also I have seen your review, golden review, bloom audio reviews of the Aperio. All mention strong base response. I see a lot of contradictory information on the BASS performance with many saying its lack?
Also it seems all the reviewers connect the Aperio to an external DAC.
The rave performance reviews of the unit does that apply to the Aperio out of the box or only with an external DAC? Is it as “great” without one?
As always, love you dedication and detail, perfect guy to hang out with and discuss audio. Hey, why not do a cafe sit around with guests discussing audio as part of the show? Experts, friends , industry people, and regular people discussing their demo's etc. Might be fun and interesting ????
@@tonyd9998 keep an eye out on the channel, first of all it’s deeply appreciated. I’m glad you enjoy the content.
We’re planning the second CMA hi-fi show for next year, at the Park Plaza hotel in one of the big conference rooms where we’re gonna get the super flagship show going like the one in March
Hi, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. I am expecting my Aperio in the next weeks. I have seen both your video reviews on it as well as Golden Sounds Video, as well as Bloom audio and others. First question. I noticed almost everyone connects another external Dac at some point. Is the performance level of Aperio described by all as great as the standalone all in one comes at the price point. Is a higher end DAC required to get all it delivers? I am asking as I'm trying to find out if its reminiscent of the "Susvars (OG) chain issue of yea its great but only with the right amp.............I actually sold off the Susvar chain I had most recently to acquire the APERIO?
2nd Question- Every review I mention made a note to point out and highlight Aperios BASS performance. However I see also a lot of conflicting info on that issue saying Aperio is "Light" on dynamics, force, slam however you want to categorize it> Also does the Lampizator in the chain improve Bass and is that one of the reasons to think about adding it to the chain????
@@tonyd9998 there is absolutely no limitations on the dynamics and based slam of the unit, this is conflicting information that is actually incorrect
And it simply comes down to the reason that they are not getting a perfect seal of the cops around their ears. It’s crucial it’s a vacuum. It’s airtight and it needs to be perfect.
The unit kicks like a mule as an all in one and you certainly don’t need another DAC to get that aspect out of it. It sounds like speakers rather than headphones.
The reason why we get wave dream signature or LAMPI or something to add to the unit is because the unit goes beyond what it’s capable of it’s a fantastic all in one system and it’s all you ever need, but you can still push its limits and it still gives you way way way more on top
@@ConvinceMeAudio Thank you I have a good understanding of your comment. The seal is really never talked about but to your point should be...Just like the conversations you can have on AB 1266 and positioning etc. Is there a way to verify that you actually have the seal needed when listing?
@@tonyd9998 definitely, just make sure your hair is not underneath the pad and your ceiling it perfectly also it takes about six minutes or so to get the perfect bounce back from the pad so once you put it on your head and it’s comfortable I don’t recommend moving it around. You will definitely know when it’s sealed properly because the low end is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before even from SUS.
@@tonyd9998 currently running SUS, SUS unveiled, Levante, Poseidon, and Epsilon DAC, and the Aperio is still the most resolved in transducer after Shangri-La Senior in the world nothing comes close
Received my Aperio. You’re exactly correct as it relates to the proper seal being the key to base response! I paid more attention to it and Bingo bass response is all you could ask for!!!
Is it true that you'll be reviewing a RAAL Immanis soon? I am curious how it compares to the Aperio. I have it on pre-order to compare with my Aperio...
Yes, me and Danny have already talked about it. It will be coming soon.
Technically the advantage of ribbon is “light mass and excursion”, yet it is certainly not as light as electrostat, so the advantage for a lot of excursions is to create the dynamics close to dynamic cans.
It’s not Aperio level period, even the bass and dynamics are below the TOTL Electrostat, as I heard that can with so many different systems.
I like the concept of these long-term reviews (1 year and so on). Often it takes months to really know a system in depth. Reviews after a few weeks can be too superficial.
I agree, obviously we can’t do it for everything but I think a revisit is always very very necessary.
Specially true high end systems
Man....
I wish i was a family member, and could stop by ... Maybe bring some dinner and just listen to the best systems and configurations ever.
I’m just saying-
👏🏻👍🏻
Koji, I have to ask. What is the value of using this as a preamp (as opposed to any other number of preamps)? It’s just a pass through (and attenuation), right?
I don’t think I quite understand, I think convenience and being on the desk,
and one pre-is not like to another pre-
They certainly know all the same, even grabbing one that Mesures like a wire will sound different to another one
So I don’t quite understand the question, maybe it was being used to because you have it so therefore why not, please let me know what you mean
I'm working with the assumption that a pre doesn't change the presentation, that a pre should just measure like a wire. Are you able to share how the Aperio's pre changes the presentation, compared to some of the other preamps you have used?
Whow, your review sounds really good 👍
I am impressed what is possible I will test the Raal 1995 Immanis on thursday at the high-end in Munich maybe it will be my new one 🎉
I will look for the Warwick too.
If you see CMA there, come over say hi, we’re going to be attending
Which Lampizator model are you referring to in their line?
@@tonyd9998 Golden Atlantic, Poseidon
Thank you, CMA, this validates my deposit 😉
Would have been good to see a bit more of the product, especially against those dacs you mentioned. So.. your final final opinion is that Lampizator > Dave, May, Wavedream, et al. ?
Waved signature is the most technical DAC under 30,000 I’ve ever heard
LAMPI is the vinyl sounding organic one I think might be a better euphonic experience with this system
Yes it’s the filming process and times that were the problem. A lot of the footage of the units were not shot yet because of the unit arriving a different times for now I think was this was the best we could do.
Love the music in the intro.
🐅
I have been fortunate enough to have a good amount of time with the HE-1 and there are MANY headphones that I like better. I have not heard the Aperio (any version), but I generally don't like E-stat headphones. Although, the Audeze CRBN is pretty good. E-stats all lack note weight and body to the music. Too delicate or thin sounding. I would easily take my LCD-XC or LCD-5 or even the HE1000 V2 ( I use EQ on everything) over the HE-1. You absolutely do not need to spend more than $2K on headphones to get amazing sound. You can spend more and get slightly better (maybe), but mostly you just geta different sound. Maybe the sound you prefer does cost $5k or more, but not likely.
Judging from the title, I assume you’re a boxing fan (like me)?

So..this a battle of the titans !
good morning, no, I think I would say this is more what happens when you put lampizator dac on the unit, but I think I will make a video of all three
In a shootout setting because there are strengths and weaknesses to all there isn’t such a thing as a perfect system
@@ConvinceMeAudio Ah, as you said at the end of the video…these systems should be considered a special treat ( not your daily driver) they’re the equivalent of an ultra decadent dessert 🧁 ..and used to not only enrich your soul ..but be an actual palette cleanser.
Thank you and have a great week.
wow that gold seems unnecessarily gaudy. aperio seems like the pinnacle of audio, but the orpheus does seem like the more luxury product.
After a hard day of work 2h with these. For the rest of the time 6xx
☺️🐅
Or just save an enormous pile of cash for more useful things and enjoy that 650. :)
Seriously considering purchasing a Aperio. I'm tempted by the gold version. I desperately want it, but I have the option to get a black one for less than 30k at a dealer near me.
So really hard to justify 15k for the gold. But I still want it, just so gorgeous looking!
I bought an Aperio and have been very pleased. Sold my Susvara, among many other headphones, amps and DACs. Even sold my Shang Sr.
@@findingabby The Shang Sr is the other headphone system I was considering along with the Stax SR-X9000 with the LTA Z10E and a Bartok DAC. The HE-1 isn't really a consideration because it seems the Aperio is a formidable option for half the money.
@@johnrus7661 it definitely comes down to personal preference. I've owned everything except the HE-1, which I was able to demo, luckily. The Aperio is the one for me. We'll see if the Immanis holds a candle to it or not, though.
@@findingabby Indeed, from all the reviews I can tell. The Aperio or the Shang Sr is what sounds appealing to me. I just never demoed a Shang Sr with a setup like I mentioned to actually know if performs the way I want it to. I've demoed the Aperio and it is jaw droppingly amazing.
It’s beautiful, but my advice grab the black one. It’s 10 grand cheaper. This is not about money or worth, or even need, it’s definitely a want.
To be fair to the HE-1, one would have to use the Lampizator DAC to feed it as well.....and THEN compare the sound of the two headphones.
if we’re looking at price point value definitely not
because even with that, it’s still roughly 25K less LOL, can you believe it, but if we’re talking about pushing Headphones to the limits the driver limits certainly
Shhhh don’t let anybody know LOL, but I’m in the process of getting the orpheus in
@@ConvinceMeAudio That's awesome! When you do, please let us know how you got one. Those of us plebeians who don't have connections in the industry are left to find out that Sennheiser isn't able to make any HE-1's for now; the website for the HE-1 simply reads, "Unavailable." I agree with you wholeheartedly that from a cost comparison perspective, that the setups aren't fair to compare. But I believe that an audiophile well-off enough to buy an HE-1 will also be able to buy top-notch streamers and DACs to feed it, and then power the whole setup with a StromTank! Please do your best with comparisons of the units by themselves as well as comparisons when they are each being fed the best way you can 😁
For that amount of money, you may as well pay VIP at a concert and meet the artist.
How many times can you do that though LOL but these statement pieces of the industry are honestly not for people who have to think about the Money aspect of it otherwise it genuinely just isn’t appropriate, because you’re not looking at worth at that point in time you’re looking at want
this or Beats ?
I thought it was obvious LOL, its beats all the way
But you’ve got to find the original monsters 💪
Treble is way too forward and harsh on Aperio and the bass is lacking in slam compared to the HE1. HE1 has better vocals, instrumental timbre, bass, treble control and overall a much better experience.
You need to seal the pads perfectly they need to be airtight so no
HE one has a different type of base very much a keen to something like a utopia
And in regards to the triple region you must’ve listened to a cold unit this is incorrect again. The system does not have these issues. It’s a very smooth experience if we’re talking up objectively
Subjectively anything is possible when it comes to Audio one individual basis
@ConvinceMeAudio The unit was on for a few hours and it was that same gold system but I'm very prone to treble harshness and I only listen to tube amplifiers so maybe that SS amplifier threw me off. For me, I found that the vocals were richer, warmer and fuller on the HE1 whilst also having the most natural instrumental timbre I have ever heard. The bass on the HE1 was like LCD 4 levels of slam and the Aperio was very weak in this department. I tried to EQ some bass into it but it really didn't respond well to it. The HE1 also probably has the best treble control I have ever heard and probably helped by the tubes. I haven't heard the Shangri La SR yet but I suspect as a whole package the HE1 is the best system in the world at this time.
It’s very possible
Individual basis definitely could be a thing
Do you happen to remember what type of music or what you listen to, I would like to test it here
@@ConvinceMeAudio The New Abnormal - Oribtal (Mid-bass impact that is leagues better on HE1), Points of Authority - Linkin Park (Best rendition of electric guitars I have ever heard on HE1 and incredible vocal timbre/naturalness), Alacran Y Pistolero - Chingon (Overall natural acoustic guitars and vocals on HE1).
Does the gold one different from the black one?
Only in wallet to recovery otherwise no 😂
