This is one of those secrets that ive been contemplating for 20+ years. My mixes should be 1000% now. Thanks waves.
I've been mixing for 20 years (on and off) and I still learn from every video I watch, people do things differently. Some over mix and over process...he keeps it simple done with great skill..Yoad explains things very well...great video!
elcajon619 guess you weren't that interested in music mixing anyway then? ...
he said jk....
They have one thing in common though. They use their ears extremely well.
15:55 "Watching all the hope go out the door".
Door squeaks open.
I guess that was the hope leaving.
And whatever hope was left after that left at 51:10. Or maybe that was hope hitting the floor?
man...a half hour into this and I'm starting to rock back and forth like a mental patient at all the "consider this" going on...I'm usually fine with musical repetition and its a very important part of driving a song home but this is just killing me for some reason

FINISHED: 59:00
Nearly the same. Hahaha
@@MB-ry6ez No Sir. Huge Difference
Nevo the hero. So glad to see that such a pro can also encounter difficulty side chaining with waves plugins. On the off chance that you read this Mr. Nevo, thank you. I've learnt so much from your webinaars.
I just love learning about mixing. I want to go to school for it, but parents don't believe in it.
Don't give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.
Just keep practicing! You don't need to go to school, everything you need to know is here on the interweb ;)
TVTsteven Thanks
Hey, sometimes I don't have enough money to eat and stuff because this business gets hard sometimes... but I feel happy because I am doing what I Iike, and at the end, I will not regret anything. Cheers!
If you love it and feel it, just do it... don't listen to any "dream killers" out there...
Yoad - a very big thank you for doing this webinar and allowing the recording to be here on YT. An awesome demonstration of vocal work with waves and how using a little can make a big difference.
Outstanding. Mr. Nevo explains how he's thinking and his subjective impressions, and explains each step precisely. Other lecturers rush through, obviously not considering how listeners will be able to follow the process of reasoning-listening-adjusting. Thanks so much!
Thank you very much Yoad for your time and willingness to share your knowledge to make those of us that are newer to producing that much better.
Take a little breath guys! Love this seminar! GREAT VIDEO!
He said it was with just the cla but the love he has for music won't let him stop. Good job
Always learning ALOT with Yoad. My favorite.
You know whats even cooler, the way you say cool Yoad. Its cool.
Great tutorial!!!!the great thing about making music is that you keep learning every day, every hour and every experiment you do!! and you can have different approach making something sounds better!!
I really love it!!
best vocal mixing tutorial that has ever been uploaded full thumbs up
Thank you for this super dope session, I like the way he talks and go throught the steps with us, instead of showing what he did.. The best masterclass I've seen so far, thank you!
For all of you who think the vocalist is awful: 1) it must be wonderful to be so good at everything. Congratulations to you. 2) if you're actually professional recording engineers, your job is to make things sound as good as you can, not to judge. Polishing turds? Yes, that's exactly what we do. Every day. That's the job. If you don't care to work with sub-awesome performances, I suggest you turn yourself into Jack Joseph Puig or Chris Lord-Alge. Then you'll have enough rep to not need to spend time commenting here.
Touche.. If mixing is your JOB, you really can't make judgements towards the material, even if it's the worst thing you've ever heard. You make it sound as good as you possibly can and smile when they hand you that check!
Kevin M Two of the more intelligent and pragmatic posts I've seen on RUclips in a good while. This was a really excellent video too. I learned things I haven't seen before. I love that!!
in response to your #1.... do we NEED to be good at singing to say we dont like someone else's singing?
Adam Lewis
To use one of my own metaphors....A doctor doesn't need to have had a broken bone, to cure one! ;)
Well said! :)
I loved the video! You can clearly see a hell of a professional working here. It is good to see a person who really knows what he is talking about.
Either everybody already knows what they are doing or only 33,000 people wanna get better. I love this video. NEED MORE!!
Brilliant webinar! I know I'm 5.5 years behind, but a sincere and big thank you for this!
You have no idea how much I have learned with you. Thank you. Amazing.
Huge thanks to anyone who gives mixing tips for free.
Even though I don't use waves at this time, this was one of the best videos I've ever seen. Great teacher. I will watch this many times. I was surprised by all the criticism on the vocalist. I have had questionable vocalists who ended up with amazing songs. There are many very famous artists who aren't great singers in the classical seance but their team including producers and mixers knew how to package them. It is not my job to be a critic, it's my job to help find their nitch and direction and hopefully make them smile when they hear the results. I absolutely hate, did I say hate, despise polka but i will mix it as though I love it with every fiber of my being. I feel I can either be a mix engineer or a critic. I actually love the difficult ones, when I am successful with them, I know I really accomplished something.
One of the best tutorials i've seen! thanks for share your audio approach process and tips!
Great job... I've been mixing for years and I always find use in watching these and stay current
just following some of these steps has made a huge difference in my mix
WOW a lot of you on here must be in the early stages of mixing lol why so frustrated? this all makes sense! Thanks Yoad
thank you so much for the great tutorial. I finally purchased Waves bundle and very happy with the result I'm getting. They became my favorite Plugins, I wish I bought them earlier.
Excellent video on approaching vocals. I've visited this quite a few times before and every time I catch something new. The delay sidechain compression trick is really helpful.
I am always looking to expand my skill set and this certainly provided me with some excellent tips on how to use my plugins in a more creative as well as a practical manner. Thank you so much Mr. Nevo for sharing your expertise with us.
I first watched this tutorial in 2015, a friend had a video, I learnt something, it became I had somehow the best vocals come out of my studio though it was home based but at least It was like "he's good at vocals" and I was like yeeeeeeah! I should say I ve used waves plugins the right way coz this tutorial, thank to waves, thumbs up 👍😉👍!
our methods are quite the same Yoad..this is my first time seeing this video and it really made me happy to see someone with more experience use some of the same techniques. Cheers!
such a humble and smart guy! not overly confident and salesmanlike like some others... THX Nevo!
very informative. This video answered many questions that I had. I appreciate Waves for producing it.
Why is he mixing stewie griffin's vocals?
Thank you so much for this lesson, it is more than I've learnt in 2 years of college.
Fascinating to see how a raw vocal can end up sounding quite good. The raw performance didn't make sense to me, but when it was processed and then put in context, it all came together. Nice job! BTW, if we heard most pop vocals at the raw stage, we'd be surprised. Bless the mixers…
Awesome, I love the singer and the song.
The trick with putting Aphex on the send return of supertap-2 to get "earrings" was the best tip for me for a long time. I totally simulated all settings and plugins...but when I put the Apex in I started smiling. Thanks for one of the best sessions...and for contradicting the EQ before Compress... :-)
wow it sounds amazingly better at the end... a true master.
I love this. So knowledge hungry. Thanks for feeding the fire
Thanks alot Yoad Nevo what i learn in just a few minutes really make my day!!!!!
blessed love.
Fantastic tutorial. The compression first before EQ was an interesting argument I had never thought about.
I learned as much from watching his face as I did from his plug moves. Thank you Yoad!
Very good webinar. There aren't many like this out there.
Really thanks for that tutorial. I learned a lot and I'm going to test it in my DAW;)
Greetings from Poland

Wow.. This is such an important vid for producers, thanks so much for this! :)
Best and complete tutorial on vocal editing mixing, I'm surprised why the views are so low.
Thanks , very helpful , you are sure and rightly convinced in what you're doing !
Imagine the dude that had to De-ess Freddy Mercury's vocals lol
HAHAHHAH
It was so good. Explained in a very well manner. Thanks for it dear Sir.
Good info ...def will be using some of these techniques...especially like the doubler to thicken up the vocals
great tutorial!! very helpful in approaching effects for lead vocals.
Absolutely great tutorial!!!!!!

Great stuff! Thank you!
Thank you Waves, and Yoad Nevo,
Thanx for this tutorial. God bless you
Consider this... ))
lol
Very useful. Thanks for the upload.
very nice tutorial keep up the good work man
The LA-2A plugin is fantastic!! Warm, meaty..very analog sounding
Thanks so much. Really learned a lot. Edited my own vocals point by point along with your instructions and I'm really happy with the results. I noticed you duplicated the vocal track to add saturation. I've been placing saturation prior to compression on the idea that it would react more dynamically to the uncompressed signal. Would love hear opinions on that.
Excellent Tutorial... Awesome
really good mixing. i am learning a lot with this
Very helpful video! I just don't get why do you use the vocal rider? The previous step - heavy compression was to reduce the dynamic range, and now you are creating dynamic range with the rider?
thanks evan those plugins work like a charm
Open mider ! =D
Love it !!! Perfect instructions for vocal compression and treatment =D
great job brother.thx a lot
Thanks for a great lesson!
Great guide!! Thank you
thanks for sharing mixing skills.
well, someone else might like to see that guy, I empathize with his passion and yes, I think is great to watch him.
How did he route Vocal Rider for automation? The few clicks before he actually pulled up the plug were so fast and hard to see.
Ur right about that. When I took a digital composition class, I was critiqued to ease off my compression and not surpass 3db of compression on certain aspects and tracks. I still use a stand alone compressor along with a built in compressor within a channel strip on my own compositions outside of school. I'll even send a compressed signal to a bus and compress that too Lol!
yeah that if you used it in final mix output
compression is the best for vocals and drums and sometimes final mix for house music dub
thank you for the help.
love the webinar n cool song
Yoad..you had me at Hello...superb. learned Loads Ha, thank You.
Goat 🙏🏽🐐
Thanks a lot for the wonderful demonstration. May I know from you producers. Is it wrong to record lead vocals with one take?
