Stevie is the best guitarist of all time and Jimmy is the most influential guitarist of all time. He taught Stevie to play. They taught themselves and Jimmy is 4 years older.

Stevie worshipped his big brother. I gave Stevie a couple framed photos I took of Jimmy on stage, and really, my understanding of his feelings for Jimmy is how Stevie and I connected. Jimmy picked up the guitar first, and when Stevie saw how much excitement it brought Jimmy, he wanted some of that. They are 4 years apart. Jimmy left home and moved to Austin. Stevie followed after. I think Number One is on display, I could be wrong. Jimmy was highly respected as a blues player and co-founded The Fabulous Thunderbirds (Tuff Enuff). Donna G❤️

I believe they are a few years apart. They both learned growing up on their own. Jimmy used to be in "The Fabulous Thunderbirds in the 70's. I think Stevie filled in with his brothers group once but then went on his own. They made one album together. I used to have it on cassette.

Jimmy was widely known as the best blues guitarist in Texas when he was still a teenager. They have a strong family history of musicians, but they are mostly self taught. The brothers made an album together at the end of Stevie’s life. It was released after Stevie’s death. They were pretty tight together. Jimmie would play his guitar as a young teen and when he left the room would tell Stevie don’t touch my guitar. Well that was an invitation so Stevie always played Jimmies guitar every chance he got.

Jimmie Vaughan was approximately 3 1/2 years older than his little brother. They were close. The last studio album SRV recorded was with his brother; it's called "Family Style" and was released one month after SRV died.

A fun video to watch is his performance with Buddy Guy, "Champagne and Reefer." It's not a study in Stevie's playing but a treat to watch two blues players just have fun. Stevie lays way back, playing rhythm guitar for Buddy, but their dynamic is great together.

I thought that I had heard that Stevie Ray always had the guitar strings set really high up off of the neck of the guitar as well!! Plus 13" gauge guitar strings!! And he bends two string together, one kind of on top of the other. His sustainability is incredible and unmatched!! He had the strongest hands and forearms that made other guitarist's talk about and envious!! There was a story about Stevie Ray playing so hard and long once that he had tore the tips off of his fingers and used super glue to put them back on so he could finish playing!! Talk about being committed to his craft!!!!

I don't think anyone answered your question about the double neck guitar. That was a Robin guitar made by Rockin' Robin Guitars in Houston Texas. That model was the Octave. The upper neck is shorter and the notes are higher. I have a custom made Robin Rival that was from the same time period around 1982 or so.

Jimmie, the older brother, and Stevie did an album together called Family Style. Jimmie was also in the band The Fabulous Thunderbirds and has done the Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2010. I also recommend ZZ Top. You'll have heard their music at some point in your life. You've watched a little Joe Satriani but dig a little deeper for more of his live stuff. Then check out the old blues men. B.B. King, Little Richard, the King and Queen of Rock N' Roll. His words. The Allman Brothers (60's mostly white boys doing some great stuff), Jimi Hendrix, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Howlin' Wolf, James "the hardest workin' man in showbiz" Brown, John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles. That's a start on some bad ass music. I haven't even started on just the Jazz and Experimental Jazz players.

Cheers for all the others to. I’ve screenshotted your advice. 👏

@@TurnTheDialTV You're very welcome. I heard Craic and I knew or suspected you're Irish. Damn that Try Channel! ZZ Top did a live album in 2008 from Texas, a Double Down album from 1970-2008, and they've done the Crossroads Festival. I can't find it now but someone did a behind the scenes look at their guitar rigs.
SRV's last live appearance was Alpine Valley in 1990. He took off in a helicopter and it crashed, killing him. He was 35. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Stevie_Ray_Vaughan
It's a great album and I'm glad I have it. He played with some damn great artists. He was innovative, inventive, and one of a kind.
Once you start listening to the old Blues masters, you'll know where a lot of rock musicians got either songs or ideas from. Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, basically most of the major British 60's musicians listened to old Blues albums. I do recommend Pink Floyd and then David Gilmour at Pompeii. I listen to A LOT of music.

Noone heard the crash and for some odd reason it wasnt reported late coming in. More Stevie hero: Albert Collins. I think the video might go into his performance w his own band m, Double Trouble. The guy in the gold jacket is Jimmy Vaughan ( but the jacket is Stevie’s). Great video. ruclips.net/video/OkY1UQhXDhA/видео.html
