I’ve had the great pleasure of working with Jimmy Vaughn at several festivals in Ontario Canada. I’ve promoted hundreds of concerts and operated dozens of Blues Festivals - of the hundreds of artists I’ve met, Jimmy Vaughn is one of the kindest, warmest “stars” I’ve ever talked with! Peace
This is a very rare occurrence to see these two on video playing together, Stevie idolized his big brother ,the love between them was genuine and the musical genius you see is phenomenal and never will be duplicated. Stevie proudly wore the Jimmy's little brother label regardless of their differences.
Well Jimmie's playing was certainly the earliest inspiration, I can't help but believe a talents and gifts as massive as Stevie was born with would have risen to the pinnacles regardless💙🎸🎶
There's a terrific vid of Stevie Ray AND Stevie Wonder AND Salt n' Pepa AND Jody Whatley AND a bass player that may be a Jackson.....on MTV jamming on Wonder's " Superstition", which Stevie performed in shows. SRV is resplendent in a cape AND the plumed hat; his best Puss n' Boots fashion statement. So great. The jam bounces hard. Stevie Wonder performed at SRV's funeral.
Great reaction guys, srv will always be the goat. Please watch "life without you "at the capital theater, it's totally incredible and really shows his guitar skills, also has a great message.
I saw this live at The Mann Center in Philadelphia......Roy Buhannan Opened followed by The Fabulous Thunderbirds the Stevie was the main act ...afterwards Jimmie and Stevie did this guitar stunt then they jammed on another 4 songs with their combined bands....I only wish Roy came out and jammed with them as he would be dead less than a year later,,,,,greatest show of my life.
I've never seen them perform together. This is very cool. Both are very talented, guys! Jimmie's band was the Fabulous Thunder Birds. They're also worth checking out!
Just when you think you've seen it all, surf guitar meets blues guitar meets the Vaughn brothers and ... speechless really. I have always loved Pipeline, the song from the Chantays about the famous, and dangerous, surf break on the north shore of Oahu. Stevie did another version of the song, a duet with Dick Dale where they never actually met. Stevie recorded his tracks in Texas while the King of the Surf Guitar was in Los Angeles. Not sure who put their track down first and mailed it to the other one, but they both put it in albums, and didn't meet until several years later. Funny how music works. Can't wait for the next one!
The level of mastery here is simply mind-blowing. Imagine the amount of time and energy these boys put into creating this performance. Very few people achieve such divine expression of the soul. Thank you for your reaction.
So just to make it more complicated, each fret board had different length lengths between the frets. History, Jimmy went to Austin and took Texas by storm! Jimmy was considered the best in Texas and highly acclaimed all over the USA. Stevie moved to Austin a few years later and leaned on being Jimmys brother to get peoples attention but as soon as the heard Stevie play they loved him!
I have read a few books about Stevie and I had the pleasure of meeting someone who knew both of them well. Jimmy had a hard nosed attitude in his younger days and they had an up & down relationship, mostly good but a few rough patches. Stevie had a more laid back attitude & always said Jimmy was his first & foremost inspiration. After Stevie's career began to skyrocket his relationship with Jimmy improved, Stevie helped Jimmy kick drugs & booze and they grew really close. If you are interested there is a very good documentary about Stevie produced by VH1 called the Legends series. Jimmy is interviewed in it as well as several other bandmates & close friends. The legends show will give you a more in-depth look at the man behind the music.
I saw them do this in Austin at T-Bird Riverfest in May 1990, so it was Jimmie’s gig. That’s why he jokingly stalks around Stevie at first. They would show up at each other’s gigs if they were in town and play a couple songs in the band. They actually did make an album as The Vaughan Brothers called ‘Family Style’, which was recorded right before Stevie died. There are some excellent tracks, like “Telephone Song”, where Stevie does all his Hendrix tricks, Jimmie’s “Tick Tock”, which was a local hit in Austin, and “Long Way From Home”, with Jimmies world-class rhythm guitar and Stevie’s lead. My favorite. No one ever reacts to it because there were no videos; no videos because Stevie was dead. A lot of people don’t know it exists.
Really enjoying you guys. Saw Jimmie with the Fabulous Thunderbirds and SRV twice Once with BB King and Albert Collins and once with Double Trouble all in New Orleans. Always awesome!
Jimmie started and was lead guitarist in The Fabulous Thunderbirds, who had some great hits ("Tuff Enuff," "Wrap it Up" and "Powerful Stuff." I saw them do a free concert at The People's Fair in Denver in the late 80's. They remain one of my favorite live bands.
They also played on stage with each other at a concert called ‘Celebration of Blues and Soul’ where they did a song called ‘Love Struck Baby’. SRV was obviously great but Jimmy played a solo that was smooth as glass 🇬🇧👍🏻🇺🇸
Another "guitar God" you should check out is Junior Brown ❤❤❤ "My wife thinks you're dead"........ "Highway Patrol"...."Pipeline"... Very Underrated and Spectacular!!
Hahaaa, I don't know what was more entertaining, seeing two guys share the strangest looking guitar I've ever seen, or BP1 loosing his sh!t over watching two guys share the strangest looking guitar I've ever seen... mad talented for sure!
A great collaboration to 3atchbeouod be Stevie Ray Vaughn and Dick Dale (king of the surf guitar, and likely the inventer of surf music) do pipeline together. It from the movie back to the beach. A kick**s version.
Actually saw them perform this here in St Louis at the Opera House. Jimmie's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, was the warm up for SRV & Double Trouble. In between sets, they came out and did this.
That is Stevie sitting in with the Thunderbirds.. You can hear him call out Kim Wilson at the end of the song. He he the lead singer of the Thunderbirds..
That track is on Family Style. Jimmie and Stevie share vocals and playbon every track, the last SRV release to come out before the accident. I think i got it on a thursday then that weekend it happened.
Nevermind the fact that the Vaughan brothers are killing it on this song, think about how uncomfortable Jimmy's body position was throughout the song 🤯
It is about time someone gives his brother reviews too ,he played a musical role as well an a lot of people that does SRV reviews dont know!..🤣😂 Great review & reaction you two an big props to ya for getting his brother in on it!..👍👍
Haters gonna hate. The whole idea of watching your channel is getting your reactions, not just listening to the music, but hey, I'm glad you're showing stuff I've never seen. Thank you both!
The rivalry you mention subsided as the brothers got older, and they had become very close by the time Stevie died. Their two bands toured together quite a lot in the late ‘80s, so their playing together wasn’t that rare. There are a few clips of Stevie playing a 6-string bass with Jimmie’s band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, on YT. There’s also a fantastic brothers jam from the New Orleans Heritage & Jazz Festival 1990, just a few weeks before Stevie’s death.
Lovin' the BPR blues content here! You guys are always entertaining. I, for one, love your commentary. Keep it up, guys! In keeping with the broader theme of musicians who'll convince you to put down your instruments, I'll mention a drummer named Greyson Nekrutman. He plays jazz, he's youngish, and he's from another planet. Here's a vid of him playing the jazz standard, Caravan, with a huge solo: ruclips.net/video/AwPCbmTXsiA/видео.html
I hope you dont get away from srv after April there are so many great performances for you to react to from Austin city 1989 leave my girl alone and tightrope and cold shot also from capital theater life without you couldn't stand the weather ain't gone n give up on love change it from Tokyo 1985 scuttle buttin say what
I believe that story about Stevie playing Jimmie’s licks is a false narrative. It never happened. Jimmie did teach Stevie how to play the guitar. Jimmie plays much better than Stevie.

You can feel the love between these brothers. I believe that if Jimmie hadn't picked up a guitar at age 12, we would never have gotten Stevie.
💙💙💙💙💙
Exactly.. finally someone who gets it. If it wasn’t for his big brother we would never have Stevie.
Well Jimmie's playing was certainly the earliest inspiration, I can't help but believe a talents and gifts as massive as Stevie was born with would have risen to the pinnacles regardless💙🎸🎶

Life Without You live at the Capitol Theater
I've never seen them perform together.

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
Absolute must-see SRV vid:
**Life Without You at Capitol Theater**
The level of mastery here is simply mind-blowing. Imagine the amount of time and energy these boys put into creating this performance. Very few people achieve such divine expression of the soul. Thank you for your reaction.
Great!!
They made a whole album together. Family Style

Jimmy just takin a nap on Stevie's shoulder. Sure they both could do this blindfolded. ❤❤❤
Stevie played so loud I thought my ears were bleeding. Have you watched Stevie and his brother Jimmie on the same guitar? It’s brilliant.
I saw them do this in Austin at T-Bird Riverfest in May 1990, so it was Jimmie’s gig. That’s why he jokingly stalks around Stevie at first. SRV and Jimmy doing "Pipeline" live is a once in a lifetime experience. I promise you your head will explode.!!! 🤯🤯🤯
You need to do Stevie and Johnny Copeland Tin Pan Alley
NEED to listen to "Little Wing" live or album all versions are 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
They also played on stage with each other at a concert called ‘Celebration of Blues and Soul’ where they did a song called ‘Love Struck Baby’. SRV was obviously great but Jimmy played a solo that was smooth as glass 🇬🇧👍🏻🇺🇸
see why we love it!!Jimmie is good but SRV is unbevibable

Watching BP1 lose his sh1t never gets old 😁
I am lucky enough to have a ring side seat!!

Stevie adored Jimmy! Enjoy your channel! 😊🤗🎸🎶🐶☀️🌵🇺🇸🙏tuning in from Phoenix Arizona nobody can match Stevie he had an open channel!
@Mona Lisa Ganser
Thank you for the kind comment and for tuning in from Phoenix
All the best
That is Stevie sitting in with the Thunderbirds.. You can hear him call out Kim Wilson at the end of the song. He he the lead singer of the Thunderbirds..
You should listen to The Vaughn Bros. Tick Tock. Some great footage of them when they were little. Some home videos. And dedicated to Stevie.
That track is on Family Style. Jimmie and Stevie share vocals and playbon every track, the last SRV release to come out before the accident. I think i got it on a thursday then that weekend it happened.

Great review & reaction you two an big props to ya for getting his brother in on it!..👍👍
Check out a song that Jimmy wrote about his passing. Called six strings down.
The song is called Pipeline first by the Ventures
Haters gonna hate. The whole idea of watching your channel is getting your reactions, not just listening to the music, but hey, I'm glad you're showing stuff I've never seen. Thank you both!
Both learned from the Ventures! Surf Rock 1960's
12 an 6 Brothers! thumbs UP
Guess a few of us recommended this......good stuff.
Its Brotherly Love my man
Another great reaction. Loved revisiting this after not seeing for many years.
Another amazing SRV is life Without You at the Capitol theater. He actually plays with his teeth and breaks a tooth.
I knew you would enjoy my recommendation

They’re playing by “muscle memory”
Every time I watch this, I have to take pain meds in sympathy with Jimmy, because that had to freaking HURT!
Screw Jimmy bc he was always jealous and made millions off Stevie's death.
the brothers did one album later in stevies life called Family Style
This was during Mardi Gras aboard the Riverboat President
Best Jimmy Vaughn/Fabulous Thunderbirds song is Tuff Enuff (imho).
You guys have the best reactions!😂 love your channel!
@Over Sixty And Sassy
Thank you for another lovely comment.
Please come back soon!!
Jimmie Vaughan; hmm…he does a lot of great songs. An instrumental called “Strange Pleasures.”
Y'all ought to react to some of Jimmie's group "The Fabulous Thunderbirds" maybe "Wrap It Up" or "Tuff Enuff"
great reaction guys. BP1 I love your excellent mimicing of the whiny commenter lol. It is a good thing SRV is skinny.
Watch walk off the Earth. Some one I use to know. 5 players 1 guitar. Awesome song and voices.

Stevie always said that jimmy was better then he was ,
There is not a bad SRV
I hope you dont get away from srv after April there are so many great performances for you to react to from Austin city 1989 leave my girl alone and tightrope and cold shot also from capital theater life without you couldn't stand the weather ain't gone n give up on love change it from Tokyo 1985 scuttle buttin say what
Both in really unnatural, uncomfortable positions, both absolutely locked in step to each other. Crazy.
Watch Dick Dale! Led gen!
Old Dick Dale tune.
All Day you Wankers!
@Valhalrik
Cheers wankers unite
We shall take that as a compliment 😂😂😂

WAY TOO MUCH TALKING
