You might be interested to know Stevie was always very “spiritual” and believed in a higher power. Once he got sober he re-dedicated his life to Jesus. He often said “Thanks To God I am alive & well today” at his concerts. Stevie was an out of this world talent & an amazing human being. Although they never met, Stevie loved & respected Jimi. He felt a real kinship to him. I believe Jimi would approve of this tribute.

Stevie asked Al Hendix, Jimmy's father if he could cover Jimmy's songs, he asked for permission.

Eyes closed & away Stevie goes!!
Full of love & very humble guy...he didnt deserve to pass as he did 🥺 Still makes me cry when i see him live on these fantastic videos ❤
You must check out his REHEARSAL...even that is something special...always live for any Stevie songs as he played every concert differently...amazing talent...like Elvis he never hit a bum note or failed the fans...unlike Elvis poor Stevie was killed before he made it really big..as he would have done i am sure!
Love ur reactions...Stevie was something special & you couldnt do enough reactions to him (or Elvis) imo 🙏❤🙃

This is from 1983 when SRV was heavily addicted to drugs and booze. It's interesting to compare this with the more up tempo version from 1989 Austin City Limits show when he was clean and sober. You don't have to do another reaction but you ought to check it out.

His early stuff was way better. When he got clean he lost alot of the raw, reckless briliance he had in his younger years.

In my personal opinion, having played guitar for 50 years, the only live performance that transcends Jimi's guitar playing is SRV.
Please consider this a personal opinion. SRV's playing is that outstanding.

To understand why Hendrix was such a heavy influence on SRV you have to go back to the Monterey Pop Festival 1967.
This was Hendrix‘s debut performance in America and it was like nothing seen or heard before. Hendrick shot to instant stardom and was essentially on top of everyone else’s game. So it’s understandable why people thought this was magical, and probably where his idea came for the concept of being a voodoo child.
I’ll give you two Led Zeppelin numbers that you might consider which are the opposite ends of their musical spectrum. The first being “Stairway to
Heaven” and the second is “When the
    Levy Breaks”🙏🎸

Alot of people say Stevie's wha-wha was given to Stevie by Jimi's family members but the truth is Stevie's brother Jimmie Vaughan was playing at a venue along with Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Hendrix had borrowed Jimmie Vaughan's wha-wha peddle and Jimi broke Vaughan's wha peddle so later Jimi Hendrix gave Jimmie Vaughan his wha peddle and Jimmie gave it to his brother Stevie ( from a Jimmie Vaughan interview)

Wow more Stevie Ray Vaughan, this is going to be good, damn right from the start, he we go, Stevie loved Jimi Hendrix, I think he did this for an homage to Jimi Hendrix, he definitely put his own style in this, I think Jimi would have been proud, absolutely awesome, yeah like Jimi Hendrix Stevie Ray passed so soon, his hand on the guitar blows my mind, absolutely wild, Mr Doge lost his mind, lol lol, he's absolutely fabulous with the guitar, just freaking wow, I wish it wasn't blocked I'm going to have to watch this so I can see him, they say that country blues are full of voodoo symbolism I don't know this is what I hear, again just wow oh my God look at that guitar, I don't smoke by definitely need a cigarette, lol lol, I'm just glad you're young whippersnappers are getting into this music, lol lol, that was definitely in the top ten, which is like a 100 by now top 10, this is awesome, Stevie still blows my mind, thanks.
