Bone Tomahawk was actually an exact shoot of his FIRST DRAFT of his script! So it is possible but, as great as Zahler's films are, he's always working with a tiny budget. Tho he does manage to get BIG name actors (Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Richard Jenkins, Vince Vaughn, Mel Gibson, etc) because they're all willing to work for a fraction of their regular salary because of how much they love and believe in the scripts.

I saw this when I was like 9 on rental, and fell in love with it. And I have to say that it holds up pretty well as a bizarre artifact. I wouldn't change a thing!
Schumacher is one of my favorite directors, but it's kinda tragic to learn that he took this approach to The Lost Boys, and fought for his vision, and totally messed up his two Batman movies; I wish he'd been equally invested

Great work on this video, Cecil. The Lost Boys is a classic on so many different levels. It's got horror, comedy, great characters, stellar acting, a solid visual style and one of the best soundtracks ever produced. I agree that it is a film that does not need to be remade. It was the right film to come out at the right time of 1987.

Back in the late 80's, when I worked at a local video store in D.C , there were certain movies that we knew, if you put them on the store's monitors, it would only be scant minutes before some customer would ask, "What is that, and can I rent it?" The distinctive flyover opening, (thank you, Michael Chapman!), combined with Gerard McMann's Goth-flavored theme, guaranteed that our VHS copies of THE LOST BOYS would fly out the door every time, pun intended!

Great video on one of the best vampire movies out there. Funny how the studio was very iffy on the Horror/Comedy idea as the same year Evil Dead 2 would come out the same year as The Lost Boys so a pretty defining year for Horror/Comedy movies. And yeah it absolutely doesn't need a remake, I'm not even sure what you can add outside of modern day technology and even that wouldn't have any impact on the story.
