Yes, that system just makes summer fishing a bliss.
You obviously had this in the works for a bit but I just commented on you're last video that we need a filler on this. Thanks for the info!
No worries🤙😆
I am pretty much set up the same way, I got myself set up last year. My simm's G-3 are just to heavy and hot come summer. So I wet wade from the end of May to mid Sept. You are right a lot more mobile. And being older I don't have the physical endurance like I did when I was 30. I am 66. When out yesterday and hooked my best fish so far for the season. Not NZ class but a big one for CT. Est 8 lbs Rainbow. I catch one or two of those on the same river almost every year about this time.
8lbs is a huge fish anywhere in the world mate🤙
I get too warm in full waders very quickly. I used to wear hip boots, but they're horrible to hike in. I did this set up just last week and I loved it. This will be my go-to anytime the temp hits 72 or higher. Very much agree on being more mobile. That alone is worth getting wet. 😁
Waders suck! As soon as I can bear it, I’ll wet wade for as long a possible!!
Super as always, now I know when I come over for some guiding after this pandemic👍🏻🐟
It’s a great system!
Thank you for this, was about to ask about it on your previous video 👍😎
Thanks for sharing. Now I get that look. Makes sense. Cheers
Excellent presentation style. Explained well, to the point, and done. Thank you sir
Glad you found it useful 💪
I always wondered about your wet wading setup. Seems simple enough. Thanks for explaining. Thumbs up, as always.
Cheers bro!
Great guy say's guy's get your soks back on 🤩 👍🇳🇱👍
This was a great video! Well done sir!
Thanks bro!
Wry helpful, thank you🤙🏽
Good info, Thanks
Awesome!!! Vid! Thank you
Awesome as always alex.
Friday filler idea... fluorocarbon vs nylon tippet???
Fluoro for nymphing and nylon for dries. Nylon floats fluoro sinks. U can use a 10-14” length of fluoro for hoppers tho. We do that on the east coast USA. More stealthy when bigger spooky fish r feeding on big hoppers. Can work wonders but make sure to keep it close to the surface otherwise it will sink below the fly and cause drag :)
Good idea bro. My short answer is fluro for everything though...yes fluro sinks quicker but I never have dries on the surface long enough for it to be an issue.
Lake fishing might be a different story mind..
Nice one, Mate. Keep it up!
Some good tips👍
cool thanks for the info
Great Job
Thanks Alex👍
Chur bro🤙
Quality stuff man!
Thanks bro
Yup! Thats pretty much the setup. Cheers Alex, I went with compression leggings, helps keep my knees in one piece and together: )
Which brand of leggings you go with?
Got these on Amazon- I found I had to go up 2 sizes:
Roadbox 1, 2 or 3 Pack Compression Pants for Men Tights Base Layer Leggings
I got the Simms boot they are the bomb and not to experience
I’ve been looking for something like this. U should try the orvis ultralite wading boots. They are absolutely amazing. Super light and super comfortable. Great vid thx!
I like to have good ankle support and if I remember right, the ultra lights don’t come up high enough for me
@@TrippinOnTrout true
You can add knee pads or shin guards to lower your approach
Churs Bro.
Perfect!!
What socks do you recommend. I cannot see a link to the ones you wear for wet wading.
If your woolen socks get wet, why wear them? Aren't the neoprene socks enough?
Also, instead of the specialized wading boots, can you not wear any kind of hiking boots?
Yes the type of fabric matters. You don't want any type of wool.
Awesome love the vid can’t wait for the next one any suggestions for my channel🎣
Loving the Friday fillers! I often opt out of the base layer as it can get quite hot (30C+) here during summer. Do you always wear wool socks too? 🤟🎣
Not always bro. Just whatever I find.
hey thanks for the good video! don't get your feet wet? so when your foot is completely under water?😊
👍
Do they stop leeches?
Just new to the fly fishing game so forgive the newbie question. What’s the point of the neoprene socks if the water is gonna get you feet wet from wading too deep? Doesn’t that make for an uncomfortable wet and pruned foot all day?
Like I mention in the video, it fills out your wading boot and helps keep your feet warm, whilst keeping all the sand, stones and dirt out of your boot. And it’s called ‘Wet Wading’ for a reason..😉👍
@@TrippinOnTrout thanks friend! Enjoy your videos. Your equally talented as a fisherman as you are a videographer.
@@MrDubbaDon Appreciate that thank you mate
The most important thing.
Are your feet totally dry after a one day use in the river with those socks?
No. It’s called ‘Wet Wading’ for a reason and the enjoyable part is that you are in the river and wet on those warmer days
hell of a lot cheaper than buying sim full waders.
Do you wear your Orvis boots during long walk-ins to fishing spots ? I always wear hiking boots on long walk-ins but its a PIA having to carry wading boots as well. Wondering if the neoprene socks would make it too hot 'n sweaty to walk long distances.
I just wear them everywhere. Occasionally on massive dry hikes, the neoprene socks can create too much heat and gives you blisters but it’s pretty rare and you just suck it up when it does happen🤷♂️
I carry too much shit as it is so won’t ever take hiking boots!
Do they keep your feet dry? I got some Simms and they don't keep my foot dry lol
Have you tried out the light weight Simms boots yet?
No, I’ve heard good things about them but they don’t come high enough up the ankle for my liking
I'm so confused about how to wade with these boots during winter. If the water is in the 40s let's say and weather is upper 30s, how do I wear Korkers wading boots and keep my feet dry in cold weather? I have a wet suit pants and vest that i want to use in winter with Korkers wading boots. Do I find waterproof socks for winter? I know the boot will bring water in, and I assume I shouldn't be wet wading in winter.. 2nd question, I hear the soles can come off when in use on the Korkers. How often or how likely am I tobhave sole issues with Korkers? I fish in Tennessee rivers near Smokys where there are large slimy rocks, so I need something not to slip and just ordered a pair of Korkers for myself and a pair for my wife. What am I missing here?
When you wet wade your feet get wet.
In winter, just wear waders
I have never used Korkers so I can’t give you any advice on those sorry
so this may be a dumb question but are you walking in water high enough where your socks are getting wet? I'm trying to figure out a setup where my feet can get wet but I dont end up with a ton of rocks and sand in my boot rubbing on my feet and ankles
Yeah bro, mostly you are in the river all day from ankle deep to chest deep.
The Neoprene wading socks will stop anything from getting in your boot
🤙🏼
👊
Check out Japanese Sawanobori (shower climbing) gear. They take wet wading to the next level. Montbell makes some awesome stuff.
Never heard of them. Will check them out for sure...🤙
I have been looking to get exactly what you have just shown. So great video. Do you buy wading boots in the same size as your normal shoes or do you need to get bigger to allow for the neoprene and wading socks?
Nope, same size bro
@@TrippinOnTrout Thanks Mate. Great to get a straight answer rather than tackle store speak.
@@PTPFishing You’re welcome bro
so everything will get wet? socks and feet?
Yes…hence the term “wet wading”
Do you put cleats/studs in your boots? I'm gutted I just bought a new pair of boots and it's like I strapped a cake of soap to each foot 😞
Nope I don’t use studs.
Do the wading socks keep your feet dry?
Nope
I been looking this video I long time friend, but I thought leggings was waterproof,is nt it? I really want waterproof or resistant leggings or tights since I fish cold fresh waters in Norway. Any advice?
The only waterproof way is to wear waders as far as I know bro🤷♂️
What is the recommended size of boots to get compared to normal foot size? A size bigger or what?
I just go the same size as my regular food size and it works fine bro
@@TrippinOnTrout perfect pal! Thanks for the content I genuinely look forward to a new video.
@@jasonsergison305 Aweseom. So cool to know that man👊
does your sock get wet when you go in knee high water?
They get wet in ankle deep water..
They aren’t designed to keep you dry
I would love to do this to cool off more but I can’t stand having wet feet all day. The get soggy and crack and then get sorry. Wet feet wading for 6+ hours seems no fun. Luckily the Simms G4Z I own breath well and are wearable in 85° weather.
mosquitos will sting you even with leggings...
Just paid 50 bucks for simms wet wading socks and stood an inch in the water and both my feet got soaked. How nice
They aren’t designed to keep your feet dry.
Just to fill out your boots and keep your feet warmer while they are wet
@@TrippinOnTrout I get it I just don’t understand why they don’t keep your feet dry? It seems silly to pay 50 bucks and still walk around with wet soggy feet all day just to be able to fill out wading boots. I’m new at all this so maybe there is something I’m missing I just wrongly assumed it would be like the stockongfoots on my waders and keep my feet dry. That to me makes more sense. Even if it’s warm out walking with wet feet all day sucks. Also, if you are wet wading it’s probably not cold out anyway. I just don’t get it. Do you wear regular socks under them?? Cause then it’s exactly like walking around with wet socks and shoes all day. If you don’t wear socks does the neoprene mess up your feet or????? Sorry I just am confused at how these are a benefit and I didn’t research them when I bought them.
Sounds like you don’t want to wet wade. Totally fine- get some hip waders.
@@gregkosinski2303 well to be honest when I posted the comment I didn’t know that the socks weren’t waterproof so I thought mine just didn’t work lol. I still don’t see the point in the socks if your feet still get soaked it would be nice if they were waterproof but oh well lol
