You did alright for Loxahatchee, right down the road from me. We've had two cold snaps since then with some serious kills of the introduced fish but they always make it through. For peacocks, snakeheads and knife fish you will do better east of the Lox spillways or south. For the big peas I head down to Brazil and Colombia but our little guys on light tackle fill in the gaps between trips.

I need to get back to South Florida. I was on the west side of Miami and had so much fun with the Peacocks, the Mayans, Jaguar Gapotes, and so many more. The canals were so full of fish. If anyone is thinking about getting their child or someone else into fishing, go to Miami. Go the canals around the Ikea and Bass Pro. By the culverts, drop a bread ball and let the new fisherperson fight some of those fish. They fight really hard and are easy to catch so the new person will be hooked (pun intended). LOL!!

You made a great point there! His use of the Drone has improved greatly, as has his use of the close-up video equipment that he uses. Seems like he's been doing some upgrading from time to time, as compared to when he first started out. The video footage, I'd say, was pretty good at first, but at times, maybe a little shaky, or a little bit wobbly...but only a little bit. Now... it's like watching a Classic Fishing Show, the likes of Roland Martin, Bill Dance, and Jimmy Houston. Brother John has proven his worth, that's for sure! He's worked very hard...and it definitely shows! My only wish, vis that he keeps on raking in the Subscribers. He's worth it!

I lived in Hialeah for many years, unfortunately you were throwing the wrong lure in the first pond. Peacock Bass are high energy fish, usually a speed worm will work or a lipless crankbait. They are not fans of halfway moving lures like jerkbaits. Pond Hoping in Miami sure is an adventure!! careful approaching banks, not so much for Gators but more like for bad venomous Snakes!! they love to hang by the shore. Welcome to Miami!! Really enjoy your video.

I live in Palm Beach county where Loxahatchee is. Let the frog sit until the waves from the cast are gone, then give the fish 1 more second before setting the hook. I am talking strictly frog fishing. You can do whatever, but that's how I get a much higher catch %. I know they released peacock bass in 2 lakes in Palm Beach county, they mainly released them in Broward and Dade county's. I think lake Osborne and another I can't think of right now. I have caught huge Peacock bass myself out of lake Osbourne. They're some funky looking fish. You can camp at lake Osbourne and kayak, but you have to bring your own kayak, there are no rentals. I tent camp there in the winter, way too hot in the summer. At least I hate the heat, some don't care.

These are my favorite videos by you. In fact they inspired me to take a trip to the Everglades last March and I had an absolute blast. I know you have a significant following that watches you kayak around and catch bass and various sunfish in your home state, but doesn't hold my attention like the cichlids in Florida. That's probably because I can catch bass and sunfish where I live and they just don't get me overly excited, cichlids on the other hand, are far more exotic, and not something I can just walk out my door and catch. I can't wait to see what your next trip to Florida will produce.

Welcome back to our great State John! The fishing there is a blast. I live in coastal West Central Fla., but fish down that way as often as I can, usually to and from the Keys. It’s a totally different world down there, thru Big Cypress and the Glades. A lot of it still very much wild and raw. Keep looking around like you are, and around down the Alley there are countless ‘ponded’ areas in the roadside canals like you fished. Your gear and lures are dead on, I’d suggest adding a Texas rigged plastic worm weightless, and Beetle-spins in black, yellow and chartreuse in assorted sizes to the lineup. All proven over decades ( I’m an old guy ) 😁! Best of luck on your next trip!

The fishing is as awesome as advertised, and the gators just need to be respected and given whatever space they need to not feel threatened or crowded. Avoiding a mama with babies is among the important rules. Another key one is ‘all bets about coexisting harmoniously’ go out the window after the sun goes down. Wade fishing or anything closely to it are a very bad idea. Be in a real boat.
