  • Bishop Sycamore, the mysterious High School football team, continues to make news. Today, a former player told his side of the story.
    Aaron Boyd said when he arrived in Columbus the team was sleeping in a Delaware County hotel after coaches told them they were waiting for their dorms to be ready.
    “Instead we ended up going from place to place like Airbnb's. At one point I stayed with a girl in her college dorm,” he said.
    And now, St. Edward High School has canceled their game against the Ohio football team.
    Questions regarding Bishop Sycamore first came about when the broadcasters on the ESPN telecast admitted it couldn't verify that the team possessed a number of Division 1 recruits, as it had claimed.

      @emmettredding1 2 года назад

      @@lucasalan22 yes, you read me correctly!! May not be as common currently as it was back in the day, but it still goes on. As long as there are legal documents required to prove a minors age and where they live, there is someone out there willing to create and sell a fabricated one. And the number of those willing to purchase it doubles!! Doesn't the name Almonte or Illinois Little League District 4 ring a bell in modern history?? There have also been NUMEROUS incidents of college level athletes using false creditionals to secure another year of eligibility. One simple Google search will reveal an unlimited number of high schools across the country who have ran into ineligible player accusations and punishment!!

    • @emmettredding1
      @emmettredding1 2 года назад +1

      @@lucasalan22 there's no doubt Bishop took this to new heights...but I'll stick with my original comment. This sort of behavior has been going on for years, in all sports and at all levels. It starts out small and evolves itself into a situation like this. The only reason this situation got the headlines it did is not because of it's level of dishonesty...but rather because ESPN got dupped into marketing this game as some big huge, high school match up when it wasn't even close to that ... Hell, it wasn't even a real high school...and those 20 something year old players for Bishop were in no danger of hurting the other team. IMG beat the hell out of them. Everyone looks for a competitive edge even to the point of cheating was the point I was trying to make. It's gotten so commonplace it seems to be accepted in some areas. You may not think what that Little League team in Chicago did was "that big a deal", but when every other team IN THE WORLD that is competing in that tournament, which is televised and generates ad revenue through the roof is expected to only have players from inside a pre determined district...well, IT IS A BIG DEAL for one team to cheat, win every leg of the tourney until they reached international level, recognized by the POTUS, etc etc etc. What message are we sending our youth??

    • @emmettredding1
      @emmettredding1 2 года назад +1

      @@lucasalan22 let me attempt to clear it up by saying I am in NO WAY defending what Bishop did. I think it's wrong and measures should be taken to prevent it from happening again. The point of my comment was everyone reacting to it like it's something new, ITS NOT...that it's never been done before BECAUSE IT HAS. I agree it's never been done at this level of dishonesty...but in some form or another, corruption in sports is common, VERY COMMON!! The sooner we all realize that then maybe we can get back to something that resembles fair competition!!

Administrators and coaches should be indicted on fraud, but kids and their parents to blame too for trying the easy way out. @@ifso9539 first of all, I’m 21 , second of all my name is Sierra and I am most certainly, most definitely an educated BLACK WOMAN as of yourself. Difference between you and me is I don’t judge my own, but honestly finding out your age, it all makes sense. You’re generation was notorious for talking about mine, while simultaneously being part of the problem. @@sierradenae579 Ms. Sierra, the fact that you don't judge your own in what the real problems are in our community is the reason your generation has to run around desperate accusing everyone of racism. Figure it out, education is the key. We are the only group least likely to be a educated. My generation is not your problem, it's the fallacies they teach in the schools these day. My generation and the generation before, were far more levelheaded and self-sufficient. YOur generation has victim mentality and thinks everyone owes you something. Ya'll suffer from fragile emotions, vanity and very poor critical thinking. Sadly, you can't see that screaming in the middle of the street every time someone says something you don't like.... is literally the equivalent of a 2-year-old screaming on the playground. Secondly whatever they are teaching yall, has your generation waking up and going to sleep thinking about your skin color. But your poor critical thinking can't see that your generation is so preoccupied with the superficial, that you don't have time to develop any substance. How did you guys get so fragile and who taught Ya'll that life is supposed to go exactly the way you imagine it, with no road bumps. Honestly, I feel sorry for your generation, and sorry for you if you can't see what is wrong in our community then you are doomed to repeat it. As for basketball and football. What is the average gpa/SAT score of our people? Answer: lower than every other group that we complaign about. You know the groups with all the money and prestige. Again. open the books, not the basketball court trying to get rich quick, but when that doesn't happen because the % for making the NFL/NBA are miniscule....what is left? # judge your own ppl , be honest so that the problems can get fixed, cause BLM ran off with the money and is under financial investigation🤣

    A school with a legitimate program, should offer these kids, atleast the ones of age, those who aren't need to work towards JUCO while they can. Hopefully the ones who deserve it (apparently the coach had some of his players beat up a homeless guy for trying to break into his car) get a chance somewhere.

    I sure hope someone helps these kids sue, especially if they were recruited from existing programs that would give them futures. These kids should not blame themselves for taking advantage of a low-work, high-promises situation. They are buying into the "you should have known better" blaming themselves, but honestly, student-athletes get used enough at the big-name schools; this situation WAS and IS illegal. PLEASE sue the organization, the coaches that recruited you, anyone who ever misrepresented the school to you, AND ESPN. If people are every day arrested for aiding and abetting, and we all know that televised non-professional sports games are pimping in the first place, we should hold the televising networks accountable for whom they take advantage of for profit.
    This is worse than the time that the Christian university I taught at recruited a 18-year-old Muslim non-English-speaking football player and required that he go to prayer meetings at 730am every morning. LOCK THEM UP.
