BMW 7-Series , Jaguar, Audi A8 and Quattroporte .
But Mercedes S-Class has been the first choice of VIPs , Top Diplomats for decades, which gives it a psychological value most cant match .
Buying Luxury sedan is mostly about feeling important

It seems like ''S" class is so expensive that camera man was not allowed to sit in it.( didnt even get a proper glimpse of the interior of the car)

I know it's not fair, but he is right.. No matter how good the A8 or 7 series are, if you drive them and see an S class get by, you will always feel number 2...
Besides that, I saw pov video of them all: at every speed the cabin in the S class is the most quite and stable of all..

This is the best most beautiful model. The newest 2021 model is REALLY disappointing. This is just perfect. Such a timeless elegant design. 100 years from now and this would definitely still be my fave
finally someone who actually knows about cars. The 2019 one is really just unbelievably elegant and is what an s class should be like
5 years old design that the competitors still not able to overtake...USA can't create even 25% of this

That's because it's still the most modern of designs. Cars really have reached a peak where designs will look new in 10 years.

0:41 "But look closely" camera zooms out instead of in
0:48 Head *lights* but rear *lamps* inconsitency
1:07 camera is way too low, nothing is visible
1:12 "New steering wheel" so are we going to get a steering wheel shot or not
2:13 center armrest should have been open for our side while you were talking about it
3:18 "And the other thing I want to mention is the design" we never got a *proper* interior shot
3:48 - 4:08 You talk about the thing s that come with the AMG line but the video shows random interior shots.
5:25 upper right corner
7:03, 7:07 You can see people moving in the reflection

You can pay extra 6500 pounds for the swimming pool package as well😂

Mercedes is elegance and comfort, BMW is driving experience and Audi is a bunh of touch screens and shiny plastic....that will never change I think. Personal taste is key in this segment.
When you look at a 7 series or a8 they doesn't look really expensive, the s class is just so classy, the design is pure
You need to check your eyes mate. Every bmw car looks much better than the s class interior and quality.

Great review man! There's truly something majestic about the S Class the competition can't quite match!
The seven series looks quite aggressive , the S class feels the most sophisticated and the Audi a8 is the best of both worlds!!
I kind of like that about the s class tho. Like it doesn't look like a fast car so it surprises you when you see it hit the road. Like with the Audi or BMW you can tell its fast which isnt bad but I like the surprise that the s class gives.

I’ve seen the s class v8’s in videos going down the autobahn 260 kph and the 3 cameras in the car, the steering wheel, the driver, and his personal helmet cam where not even shaking, that’s German auto engineering. Imagine the ride and luxury at 75 mph!

Great review, James! Can't beat an S class. Can you please do an independent review of the new Lexus LS and then do a group test between a Merc S class, Lexus LS, BMW 7 series and Audi A8? ... Then we'll see which one is ultimately the best!
its not a great review. he talks more about versions of the S class than the car itself. i dont care what range they have, i just want to see how this specific car is

There was a time when the S-Class was the pinnacle of the Benz range and from it everything percolated down to the lower models. Now it seems this has been reversed, with the S-Class having controls from the E-Class and even engines first seen in the C-Class.
Wrong because the interior of the E Class came from the S. The interior of the C look nothing like the S. Also this was out already months ago with the new engines.
Put your bad attitude in your back pocket and check the facts, you'll discover I am in fact 100% correct!

Lexus LS has got the killer looks. No other car in this class compares to it.
It looks horrible in comparison to the rest the old LS looked great the new ones look horrible.
I struggled trying to make up my mind which I liked better the XJ or the S-Class and though the new XJ is really really fantastic looking, a luxury limo should have a superlative interior and the XJ doesn't have a peep on the S-class in that department. It's almost like Jaguar did a fantastic job designing a new car on the outside and left the inside as an afterthought. For me that keeps the S-class top of the class.
Truly and will forever be the very best
In April 2022 I test drove a 2019 Mercedes best 560 and I’m sorry to say that I felt every bump crack and other imperfection on the road.
I don’t know what is the hype about its great suspension.
It honestly did not feel any different from my existing 2018 Toyota Camry, in terms of the smoothness of the ride on those road imperfections.

S Class will always be king. My only complaint about the US models is that we need the inline 6 and mild hybrid system. We get a twin turbo V6 instead. Also our iconic number is 560 instead of 500

Have always loved the S-Class, but the revised model nomenclature is becoming increasingly confusing. Here, in our market, the 3 liter straight six with 48v architecture is called the S450, and the new V8 with 48v architecture is called the S560. Having said that the most confusing are the model designations for Audi like 50Tdi dan 55Tsi. Great review, Mate!
Nobody who buys these kind of cars care how the car is named.
the global sales figures doesn't lie.... the S class outsells far greater units then 7 Series, Panamera, A8, etc.... in its same segment.
No S560 version in the UK, I wouldn’t accept that TT i6 for a 500.

Weve got tons of brand new S Classes here in New Delhi India. All assembled in India. All dust laden. India is a big market for the S Class. Assembled by Benz India in Pune. The chosen steed of tax dodgers.

You dont buy over 5 m limo to get you excited - you buy such car because the comfort and nothing can beat Merc in this compartment. And I find it more beautiful and special in and outside...
However the straight 6 diesel is 2.9L not 3.0. I miss the regular V8 500 model. V8 in AMG spec is not what you really want - it has sportier settings and it is pointless.

S class may be the better car from passanger perspective but as a driver the 7 serie is just fun to drive.

I find it hard to comprehend why these luxury limousines aren’t EVs. They are perfect places to showcase your best electric technology. Who wants a vibrating, noisy diesel in a car like that when most people will just want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
My dream car
That silver trimmed steering wheel, as well as the rest of the silver looking plastics, is an aesthetic touch that requires a deep seated appreciation of - silver looking plastics. That’s a hard pass. Given the price of an S-Class, you’d think a customer would have interior panel options instead of that.

Image wise Mercedes is in the league of its own. It's just THE car in the class. Jaguar XJ is exotic and very good handling car. BMW and Audi are great cars no doubt but they simply don't possess the same kind of prestigious image. All dictators and drug lords in the history have driven a S class haha.

I just can't understand how people say that the interior of Mercedes s class is prettier than bmw's 7 series.

These are mostly for corporate/ gov use. Very few private buyers. Limos Taxis, reantals and Embassy vehicles. Only about 20% are private purchase. Somewhat like private jets. The E class, 5 and A6 are for private buyers. Most of these cars end up in the used car market, when they get bought by individuals. By that time the price has dropped like a rock and nobody gives a second look. Kinda like those teenage models men drool over. Once in their 30s its all over. Stick with a Camry or Accord V6. Good, wholesome, healthy cars. The C, E , 5, A4s and S90s are good reliable long term vehicles. Many Govs buy hundred of these armored cars. Thats where Benz, Audi and BMW make money.
