    I love how Neuvillette is such a chill and soft spoken guy (besides the necessary authority when presiding, of course) but he is clearly so beyond done with Furina's antics. • @brainrot7956
      @brainrot7956 11 месяцев назад +42

      I don't think he is simply done with furina persay. From what we saw, he just knows very well how to deal with her different personas/antics. Like when furina becomes serious in the second act, he is also open to hear more from her. Other people like navia thinks she was ashamed of the previous case, which was why she suddenly mellow down, but Neuvillette told us that Furina is very serious when it comes to the prophecy and that's the reason her attitude in the first versus second acts are so different.
      Unfortunately though I dont think even Neuvillette believes in Furina. I remember when Nahida came out and there was a line he said about her which was something like "at least she (Nahida) cares about her people" which indirectly means he believes Furina does not care.
      It's certain that he doesn't like her, but I also don't think he hates her that much.

      Nah, Fischl would hate her. She would see Furina as a kindred spirit initially until she realizes that Furina is all flash and no substance. While Fischl is all about the performance, even she knows where to draw the line. The difference between Furina and Fischl is that Furina is just Furina (as far as we know at the moment), but Fischl has Amy actually in the driver seat. And Amy would look at Furina's flaunting of murders and kidnappings with disgust. Also, Oz would also be uncomfortable with how Furina acts. Oz take great pains to reign Fischl in to make sure she never goes that far. To see someone actually go that far might cause Oz to snap. Not to mention, it's possible Amy would see the part of herself that she likes the least in Furina, you know, the whole, "EVERYONE LOOK AT ME! I'M THE CENTER OF ATTENTION!" I, honestly, don't think Fischl would like seeing that because it would be like looking into a mirror, but taken to the extreme. Honestly? Given what we know about Fischl/Amy, I think she would be disgusted, not only at Furina, but at all the people of Fontaine for their perversion of The Theater and Storytelling. If it's one thing Fischl/Amy would not be okay with it's taking someone else's pain and putting it on full display for the world, glorifying it. And that is exactly how Fontaine treats Court Trials and the True Stories they represent. She would also be disgusted at how the people of Fontaine don't think for themselves and blindly believe the rulings of The Oratrice. In fact, I believe the people of Sumeru would feel the exact same way since they JUST went through the same thing. Oh God... Nilou would be completely mortified if she saw how the people of Fontaine treat The Theater.

    Regarding the whole Lyney and Lynette vs traveler thing, I think the issue the traveler could’ve had is that they’re putting themselves on the line for both twins and could potentially risk their travels and reputation, they didn’t know they were members of the Fatui and that could’ve potentially harm their travel through Teyvat.
    Plus the fact that traveler has had more bonding with Childe and has seen that apart from being a harbinger, he does have a more human side to hi while taking care of Teucer, and the fact that they know Childe would potentially protect them against most enemies apart from himself and maybe the Tsaritsa.
    So to me, it’s more so the fact that they both lied about their involvement with the Fatui and House of the Hearth because they are potentially risking a huge loss and a huge Red Cross on their record

    • @Deutronomy
      @Deutronomy 11 месяцев назад +7

      I would also assume that the traveler behave that way against Lyney and Lynette once he finds out about their allegiance due to the altercation with that fake shrine maiden back in Inazuma back then (that hidden Inazuma quest) which revealed The Knave (Arlecchino) and the House of the Hearth modus operandi

  • @macabrevoid

    The thing I will say about Bran trying to be "look at the Fatui saving Fontaine, how nice", keep in mind that
    A.) Fontaine's story is about deception and layers of layers of lies. Yes, Arlecchino and the House of Hearth might be looking to help Fontaine, but there is also more to it. Especially how they are doing things undercover and not directly collaborating with Focalors to save Fontaine.
    B.) Also we have Scaramouche and Childe's Warnings regarding to not trust Arlecchino. She's a very fascinating and gray character. She saves orphans, but also trains them to become loyal child soldiers of the Fatui. Many have disappeared and while some voicelines don't suggest she's abusive or cruel to the children, but still harsh towards them to build them as soliders .She is caring towards the orphans, but described as violent, a psycho and a wolf in sheep's clothing, willing to betray people at the drop of a hat. Her title is literally the "Knave", an untrustworthy person.
    This is me saying that don't think the Fatui are all good or all bad, but gray and this story is so HELLA COOL. I'm very excited to meet Arlecchino herself since everything we heard is from other people and not from her herself yet
    Also Bran please stop getting hung up about Lynette's disappearance, that was an actual magic trick compared to the actual dissolving

    • @ForeverDegenerate
      @ForeverDegenerate 10 месяцев назад +8

      Let's also not forget that Arlecchino doesn't only "take in" orphans. She, literally, tried to to kidnap non-orphan children from Vimara Village in Sumeru.
      Also, Lyney says that Arlecchino told him the House of Hearth's mission is to save Fontaine and its people. However, we don't know that to be true. I find it mighty convenient that a super rich person bought Lynette from their previous owner, which ended up luring Lyney to the same location, only to have Arlecchino arrive on site and kill said rich person. Let us not forget the richest people in Teyvat are the Fatui (although Dori might disagree). It's entirely possible that Lyney and Lynette's "adoption" by the rich guy to the "purchase" of Lynette by another rich guy was all an elaborate ruse of misdirection for Arlecchino to get Lyney and Lynette to join her willingly. I submit that, at least, the guy that "purchased" Lynette was, in fact, a Fatuus and willingly gave his life "For The Tsaritsa."
      I also submit that the true reason Arrlechino is having Lyney and Lynette look into the Oratrice is because she believes that the Hydro Gnosis is what is powering it, just like how the Dendro Gnosis powered The Akasha System in Sumeru. I also get the feeling she's way off base.

    On your take on the Fatui and Childe, I think you seem to be seeing the forest by the trees, but missing the mountain on which the forest resides. In nearly every instance of our dealings with the Fatui, they've been antagonistic at best. We've nearly been killed by their members at least a handful of times. Childe is the outlier, and it even took in-game months for the Traveler to have at least a neutral stance on him. Note that even in the case you raise during the questline start, neither Paimon nor the Traveler refer to him as their friend, they just don't refute him, since, he's done this quite a bit with no hints of stopping, even when we protested against it.
    There's a very good reason Lyney and Lynette would assume we're automatically slated against them. The Fatui have a bad rep in pretty much every single country we've visited so far. Not to mention, the Traveler's relationship with them MUST be well known by now. We have a pretty good history of, even publicly, not being on good terms with them. It makes sense that those in the Fatui would know of the Traveler and his relationship with the organization. Childe is an extreme exception of us having at worst a neutral relationship with a SINGLE member of the organization. Just because we can be friendly with Childe, doesn't mean the Traveler or Paimon will likely instantly trust another member of the organization. In fact, it's probably because of Childe why we don't just instantly abandon Lyney to his projected fate.
    Edit: Expanding on your "gray" commentary, it really doesn't matter if the Fatui is good or evil when they're being antagonistic towards us. They could be the best people in the world, but they've done quite a bit of harm to the Traveler and those he likes. To us, an outsider looking in, that's just par the course for an interesting villain-like organization. To the Traveler, that's all that matters.

  • @atthewmayeohanekay9294
    @atthewmayeohanekay9294 11 месяцев назад +32

    Lyney is constantly hyping up Arrlechino to us, but he has hero worship from her saving Lynette and pretty much admitted that he’s being groomed to be her successor, of course she focuses on making sure he has a favorable impression. Freminet, by contrast, gives off the vibe of an abuse victim, and just about every NPC raised in the House of Hearth reads as HEAVILY traumatized. As far as her morality, it basically comes down to “Lyney and Lynette vs literally everyone else.” Saving Lynette was unambiguously good, but she followed it up by compelling them to kill. Little bit hypocritical there.
    That said, I don’t think Arrlechino is evil, and I DO think she’s genuinely trying to save Fontaine. I just think she’s a shit parent and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children. In this light, Childe and Hat Guy hating her fits with their own established characters: Ajax loves his family, especially his kid siblings, and the thought that Arrlechino could turn them into something like him is probably his worst nightmare. The Wanderer has deep-seated childhood trauma involving the perceived betrayal of caretakers AND being twisted and manipulated by a harbinger who only saw him as a tool. Arrlechino raising child soldiers probably hammers their “trauma buttons” like there’s no tomorrow.

    • @KazKindred613

      Dude if I was Wanderer I would HATE Arrlechino. Yes, saving Lynette was a good thing to do, but is it really that good if her motive was to groom orphans in a different way? Like at least with Childe, I would believe him saving her would be (more, but still with a double motive) out of the goodness of his heart, due to showing actual human compassion and love for his siblings. Part of the reason the Traveler is right to not trust them is that even when they old affection for him, they’ve been groomed and brainwashed into being pet child soldiers for Arleccino. Even when Lyney says that he will interact with us as “just plain Lyney,” this cannot possibly be the case, as their loyalties will, out of habit and conditioning, always lie blindly with Arleccino who they consider their savior. It’s very sad :(

    For me, the difference with the twins lying is because if im remembering correctly, childe told us when we first met him that he was a harbinger while they didn’t. i get the trouble with bringing it up but it makes them look bad and untrustworthy, because in the traveller and paimons, eyes the fatui are the villains (childe is a weird exception, i’m assuming his story quest is canon?). after signora, scara before he was erased, and the doctor, the traveller and paimon won’t view them as the good guys

    To be honest the Traveler and Childe aren't really friends, ever since they first met him the Traveler never really trusted him and even now they don't entirely trust him either. The best way to describe the Traveler's relationship with Childe would be: mutual respect. They fought together and respect each other as warriors not to mention that enough time and story quests have passed that the Traveler understands who Childe is as a person.
    In a way Childe is one of the most trustworthy Fatui members since he's pretty open about what he's really interested in and the Traveler knows that and can trust him now to a certain point but still sees him as an enemy. Lyney and Lynette aren't the same as Childe, by this point the Traveler has witnessed a LOT of bad things the Fatui have done and has been personally tricked and betrayed multiple times by members of the Fatui so it's no surprise that they reacted so negatively towards them when they found out. The Traveler was at least nice enough to help prove them innocent before ditching them.

      That’s what I was thinking. They’re not super friendly with Childe and the traveler definitely don’t fully trust him. He’s just the one the traveler knows the most and his intentions are pretty clear. Aside from Childe the rest of the fatui have just been cruel and rude from the get go and even Childe was pretty bad at the beginning so I’m not at all surprised Paimon doesn’t really like them and considers them the bad guys. Even when they have good intentions they usually go about it in horrible ways.

So I understand traveler. You think so little about the fatui now since we're set to fight them all. And Childe who only wants to fight, even the harbingers don't let him take the gnosis. Because they know that childe is all brawn not brains. Like even in liyue signora is the one who take the gnosis/negotiate. Also the traveler have been betrayed everytime so she/he has trust issues. Like sometimes I feel like people forget that the traveler only knows what happened in the story/archon quest. They're not us who's playing with the open world stuff. Also the first part where the traveler and childe talks. That part is where we know that the traveler isn't worried about childe. He(traveler) even thinks that childe is here so there could be a plot going on (when furina revealed lyney and Lynette identity). Were buddy buddy's with him but if there's plotting going on were enemies

    I feel like the fan base has a huge misconception on how the Traveler treats Childe. From the start we knew he was Fatui and was aware of his intent for us before reaching the Golden House, so it’s not surprising when he attacks us. After that, we only keep things civil with him because there’s always someone around who’d get caught in the crossfire as well as the fact that Childe gives us information. First there was Tucser, then we were protecting Xinyan, and after that there was Yoimiya; who we even told to be careful as well as inform her about his identity and that he’s banned in Inazuma. The Traveler has never actively tried to spend time with this man for fun.

      But if the traveler personally or one of his friends gets treated poorly by someone, that person will receive all the vengeance and regret the day they crossed the traveler.

      To be fair to the twins, when exactly were they expected to bring up them being Fatui members when they were hanging out prior to this situation, also in what world would someone being accused of a crime they didn't do, openly admit to being part of a criminal organization to people they're trying to prove that they're not bad guys to? It's a very complicated thing to have to admit when it has nothing to do with the case at the time. Furina bringing up them being Fatui was a very dirty trick, as it was clearly meant to drive a wedge between the twins and the traveller and completely sully the audience's view of them when it had nothing to do with the case.

      True but they also don't represent the overall goals and objectives of the Fatui. The Fatui as a whole certainly aren't in a gray area like Bran suggested. They more often than not are in the black in order to achieve their goals, righteous or otherwise. The Chasm Fatui NPC's showed a lot more humanity to them but also in some respects a disturbing devotion to the Tsaritsa. The Fatui are the bad guys for the most part since they facilitate a lot of the turmoil that happens, sometimes on the same level as the Abyss. There's obviously more to them but as of now, they are the bad guys regardless of their reasoning

    • @HectorCotto97
      @HectorCotto97 11 месяцев назад +5

      The Fatui aren't a "grey" organization, they've done a lot of bad things as we've discovered throughout different events, they have a LOT of side projects going on behind the scenes.
      In Mondstat they may have not been responsible for the Storm Terror incident but they did physically assault Venti and the Traveler in front of a church and left, in Liyue they almost drowned the ENTIRETY of Liyue and its citizens by releasing an ancient sea god, in Inazuma they essentially helped cause a civil war since if memory serves the vision hunt decree was their idea and in Sumeru they essentially trapped people inside a dream world to help fuel their false god creation plan and brainwashed innocent civilians just to screw with the Traveler.
      There is probably all sorts of things I can't remember at the moment that the Fatui have done that just help drive the point home that the Fatui are generally not good people, and smaller members of the Fatue like the grunts that got stuck in the Chasm were just left behind and forgotten.

      @@HectorCotto97 "they almost drowned the ENTIRETY of Liyue and its citizens by releasing an ancient sea god" To be fair, Childe did that as a last ditch effort to force Morax to step out of the shadows, because he was banking on the idea that Morax wouldn't just let Osial destroy Liyue. Don't get me wrong, still a terrible and dangerous thing to do, and I doubt he would have cared too much if it had gone wrong, but they never actually wanted to destroy Liyue.
      As for Sumeru. Dottore has his own fun. None of that was actually part of the Fatui's official plan, Dottore just likes to "experiment." He was sent there purely to get the gnoses. But like how the Tsaritsa has apparently allowed Arlecchino the opportunity to use the hydro gnosis before she hands it over, they probably didn't care all that much about what he did with them first.

    Nope, fatui are the bad guys. Let's just remind ourselves of what Dottore has been doing to kids they took in from Mond and to poor Collei. Let's remind ourselves that Childe wanted to drown an entire nation. Let's remind ourselves that Signora and Scara literally killed people with the whole delusions thing in Inazuma, and we were their hit target the entire game.
    I don't want to make it sound like all the other sides of the conflict are innocent, but let's not create this idea that the fatui are doing the right thing.
    I don't care what agenda the cryo archon has or how noble her cause is, killing people like that is never justified. They are not morally grey, they are bad.
    And yes, working for such organization, when you have a choice not to, also makes you a bad person. Because you aren't just sitting there doing nothing, you are helping them achieve their goals.
    So I don't blame the traveler for not wanting to be friends with the twins. And Tartar is not traveler's friend. He is just an annoying mosquito and the traveler is done enough to not care anymore

    29:30 "But when there are valid grounds, I will not only judge travellers from abroad, but even the Gods of other lands."
    That was a big hint about Focalors plan that even Neuvillette missed.

    I don't know how to put it, but the thing with Childe, is that after learning his lesson in Liyue, he comes clean with things being a bad guy, actually he never denied even when they first met him. I doubt the traveler trusts Childe, but he trusts the facts. They can get along with some things mainly because of Childe's approach, and the traveler not rejecting him because there's really no hostility, along the way, basically it took time. But if his actions were to cause them or those around them harm they will not hesitate to clash. They all know that, so it makes it easier for them to get along in their own way as frenemies

    I think it’s less that we’re friends with Childe and more that he’s friends with us… there’s a lot less affection in one direction here 😂😅

    I do understand that it is grey when it comes to the fatui, but again the traveler lost a fighting companion in inazuma almost lost another in sumeru due to their experiments.
    Not to mention the traveler has at least three or four times been stabbed in the back by people who claimed to be friends.
    Yes he and childe has become friends that is obvious but it's also understandable that it's one out of way too many bad encounters that obviously has hardened his heart.
    It is completely understandable the traveler acts this way after everything the fatui has done to the four Nations so far.
    and yes we trusted childe for alot less but you cannot compare the first betrayal with the possible fifth, of course he would have his guards up at this point, it's gonna take some time and Sacrifice on the other side before that.

    All the voice actors are great, but Furina's has done an amazing job showing the chaotic drama-queen that she is.

    the paimon sunglasses/accessory idea reminds me of an item in LEGO video games that would give all the characters silly glasses or santa hats in cutscenes, it was great.

    A few things I want to theorise:
    >Neuvillette is the dragon. The rain thing in these 2 quests and him being somewhat confused on human emotions made me think that and he kinda looked like one xD (which I think many of us think)
    >Arlecchino will use those pockets to do something and Liney-Linnette will be betrayed bcuz of it
    >Furina acts the way she does bcuz she's lonely and terrified of something (you can hear her cry in the fountain)
    I haven't watched the trailer for no spoilers, so if these were in there I wouldn't know so excuse me :')

    Traveler and Futuna’s anger at Lyney and Lynette is justified. They withheld information from their defense attorney, and blatantly played at being friendly with them. They also had only recently met Traveler and Paimon, whereas Childe had several chances to make up with and befriend them over time (events, Teucer, etc.)

    Saying that Fatui are in a gray area is a bit of a stretch. So far in the story, they have: used the instability in Mondstad to try and basically make it a puppet state; almost destroyed Liyue - sure, we now know that situation was under control but Childe didn’t know that, and he had no problem with letting Osial drown the harbour along with all its inhabitants, and even sent soldiers to the Jade Chamber to help him; tried to reignite the civil war on Inazuma *twice* for literally no reason other that being salty about Rosaline’s death - the Electro Gnosis was long taken since then; kidnapping and brainwashing of orphans, Dottore’s experiments (which are most likely approved by the Tsaritsa), Regrator’s line about “Northland bank’s true currency are blood and tears”; The only good things they did as an organization so far is fighting against the Abyss, which is most likely their ultimate goal with all the Gnosis business, and whatever Arleccino is doing rn. I do agree that everything in Genshin is not black or white, but with the Fatui, it’s not equal of black and white, but more like a… cup of bleach in a barrel of oil.

      To be fair, the stuff on Inazuma post-Gnosis was just a butt-hurt Rosaline simp who went completely against orders to do it and lied to the people involved that it was an official fatui operation.

    while i understand where bran is coming from with us always being aggressive to the fatui being kinda off considering most the players simp over the harbingers, i would like to point out that every time we run into harbingers they are actively trying to either destroy a country(as a means of getting the gnosis) or trying to destroy us. All the chill fatui we've met via world quests arnt necessarily "canon" cause people could have never done those and gotten to this point. though paimon and the traveler need to learn not to judge a book by its cover, thats discrimination.
