    This was an awesome introduction and tutorial to the PMP4000. Once you confirmed my suspicions were correct about the outputs on the back requiring Speakons, my issues with amplitude were solved. ***SUB FILTER***
    I think my sub filter is set up backwards. When I turn it on and turn the frequency down (30hz) my powered main signal cuts out completely…as though everything above 30hz (just about everything) is being passed to the sub. When I turn it up to 200hz all the highs go away and lows come through the passive mains that the mixer is powering. To me it should be opposite… all the highs should stay through the mains and some frequencies get passed to the sub. When I turn it down to 30hz, the sub should be mostly quiet because virtually everything is above 30hz… sending everything to the mains… and when turned up to 200 hz the sub takes on more and the mains lose their low end.
    Instead, at 200hz… my mains lose all their highs and only produce low frequencies.
    What am I not understanding?
    ***Edit**^
    This setting works when in main mode…in any mono setting, everything is filtered off… regardless of where the signal is going. When in main mode, the mono signal is low frequency only and the mains are running normally. Presumably, when doing it this way, you won’t drive your mains as hard because those low frequencies are being driven by something else

      @g123gfr  2 года назад +1

      I have not been maintaining my website for a couple of years but I happen to see your comment and glad that I did. The solution that would give you the best sound is probably an active bass or subwoofer . You would pull the sound signal from one of the line-level jacks located in the upper right of the board. I describe how rhis works starting at time 10:57 in the video . You will gain clarity and better sound if you use EQ to reduce low frequency (0 to 350 hz) in your passive house speakers. The sub should be connected to an Aux output with the EQ having freq above 350 reduced.

    Hi Frankie,
    I have found your RUclips video for the Behringer mixer to be INVALUABLE and have referred to it many times.
    One thing I'm not clear about ,though, is how to hook up a powered monitor- that is , where to plug it in and how to adjust the signal to it from the board. Would it be 'mono out channel to the far left of the board and Mon2 slider? Got a gig on Saturday and would like to try it out then.
    Thank you and Best Wishes,
    John Hammond

    • @g123gfr

      Hey John,
      Glad the video helps you and others.
      I use the board all the time with a mix of powered and unpowered speakers in a wide variety of configurations. So what you are asking can be done, but it takes a little experimenting to get the correct connections and buttons pushed. Here's the steps for a configuration that I am guessing is what you are looking for. If not, ask again and I'll see if I can help further.
      Configuration: 2 externally-powered aka unpowered speakers for front of house and 1 or 2 internally-powered speakers used for 1 or 2 different monitor mixes for the band.
      How?
      Output Mode Switch: (upper right) set to top position labeled "Main L Main R" (video 9:40-10:20}
      Connections: Two speaker cables from the speakon powered output jacks on the back of the board (video 8:20-8:40)
      One line-level 1/4" jack from the Mon1 jack in upper right to the powered monitor #1 (video 11:15-11:18)
      Use a second line-level 1/4" jack from Mon2 in upper right if you want a 2nd monitor mix (video 11:15-11:18)
      Control: The house volume will be controlled by individual channel sliders and the mixed channels will have the master control by the slider on the bottom right labeled "Main". The channel "pan" dial can be used to change the balance between L and R.
      The monitor 1 volume for each cannel will be controlled by the channel Mon1 dials , and the master volume for Mon1 is controlled by the Mon1 slider in the bottom right
      A second monitor mix with its own individual mix and volume is controlled by the channel Mon2 dials and the master slider on the bottom right.
      Hope this helps!

      Thanks- what I'm looking to do is: Have output mode in center position, so run two FOH speakers and two passive monitors- that's what I normally do. In addition I would like to also run one powered monitor simultaneously!

    • @thecattlebarons
      @thecattlebarons 7 лет назад

      I'm assuming I would use Mon Send 2 for powered monitor?

    • @g123gfr
      @g123gfr  7 лет назад

      Correct! I assume you are daisy-chaining two 8-ohm speakers from Behringer Amp-B for the house and using Mono slider as master control for this mix. Then you have two additional 8-ohm passive speakers from the Amp-A and are using MON-1 slider as master control for this mix. Finally, you can drive an active speaker from the Mon Send 2 and use the Mon-2 slider as master control for this output.
      Great geek stuff - have fun this weekend!

    • @g123gfr
      @g123gfr  6 лет назад

      Absolutely Yes! I think so . . . well maybe . . . or maybe not! Hahaha, please forgive my poor attempt at nerd humor. The reason I am a little fuzzy in my reply is because there is ambiguity in your question. Absolutely yes, you can run two active monitors (EACH WITH THEIR OWN UNIQUE MIX) while at the same time running two active (amplified) outs with passive speakers (WITH LEFT/RIGHT PANNED STEREO OUTPUTS). Basically, I am saying that you can drive 6 speakers (2 active Main mix and 2 passive Mon1 mix and 2 passive Mon 2 mix) but you can achieve only 3 unique mixes. So if you are asking if it is possible to get 4 unique mixes so each of 4 musicians can hear the specific mix they desire, then the answer is no. On the other hand, just to add to the confusion, you could fill the room with 10 speakers by having 6 speakers with a main mix (each amplified output can handle 2x passive 8-ohm speakers daisy chained and 2x active speakers could be connected into the unamplified main L&R outputs) Then Mon 1 mix could drive 2x active speakers and Mon 2 mix could drive 2x active speakers. I hope this is all clearer than mud. If not, ask me some more questions and I'll try to untangle the mess.

    My effects processor section on this mixer is not working. The display works fine, and I can select effects between 01 and 99. The FX button seems to work, too, because it lights a dot next to the number. I guess that the effect is supposed to be on when the dot is lit. The problem is that I get no change in the sound. No reverb, echo, nothing. All the FX knobs are maxxed out in every channel strip, and the outputs (FX to Main, FX to Mon 1, and FX to Mon 2).
    One thing I notice is that the FX level meter doesn't show any incoming signal at all. I speak into a microphone connected to a channel strip with the FX knob up. I only get the signal on the master meter but not on the effects processor meter. I have the schematic for the PMX1000 by Behringer. I would assume the circuitry is very similar to this one. What could be the problem? Is there part of the circuit that collects all the effect signals on every strip and connects them to the effects processor, like a bus? I need to fix this mixer. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

    • @g123gfr
      @g123gfr  2 года назад

      Just saw your questions...did you discover the reason for no effects,? Unfortunately my Pmp4000 got sold so I have no board to experiment or play with to try and replicate your problem. just shooting fron the hip . . . did you have the "master fx" slider up? First slider in group at lower right of board.

    • @omarhaddad2504
      @omarhaddad2504 2 года назад

      Thanks for your answer. I did find out what the problem was. Opening up the mixer I saw a little daughterboard screwed and plugged into the main board, right below the effects section. This turns out to be the effects processor. A technician friend discovered that one of the resistors on it was shorted, and he tried replacing it with a new one, but we still got no signal in the effects input, so he concluded that the daughterboard is shot. Perhaps one of the integrated circuits was burnt out; we don't exactly know. But we also found out Music Tribe is the agent for spare parts for Behringer, among other brands, so I reached out, and they gave me the part number with a list of service centers to contact, and one of them will get back to me with a quote. Now I'm waiting to hear back.

    • @omarhaddad2504
      @omarhaddad2504 2 года назад

      The tech also said that, because the board is easily removable, he has the feeling that the manufacturer already knew it was going to be likely to have a problem.

    • @fauquiercommunitytheater-t7988
      @fauquiercommunitytheater-t7988 7 лет назад

      Absolutely, I do it all the time. This allows the board to drive lots of speakers . Passive speakers can be connected to the powered output speak-on jacks (A & B) on the back frame of the board, and at the same time you can connect active speakers to the unpowered jacks on the upper right of the board. If you want a separate mix in those powered speakers,then you would use the Aux 1 and Aux 2 jacks. If you use the Main 1 and Main 2 jacks, then their mix and volume controls will be the same as A&B.
      Very versatile board!

    Hi, could you explain how to use the bridge mode because I need more power to sing in a banda and the stereo mode has no all the power that I need and I have to sing louder what may hurt my vocal chords. How to connect the speakers? Do they need a different wiring?

    • @g123gfr
      @g123gfr  5 лет назад

      Oh my - I fear for the voice of any singer who is trying to out-sing a loud instrument accompaniment! Your vocal cords and mouth are not intended to accomplish such an impossible feat. You are correct to be concerned that you might damage your vocal cords because you certainly will damage them if you try to out-gun the instruments. The correct tool for the job is electronics. Specifically the Mixing Board.
      You do know that Adel ruined her vocal cords and had to quit singing mid-tour because she was doing exactly what you are describing about yourself! (www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/entertainment/stars-like-adele-keep-losing-their-voices-because-theyre-singing-wrong-voice)
      To be clear, let me repeat myself on this important point . . .
      I can give you information about how to connect your speakers in bridge mode . . . but this will not solve your problem. The correct solution is proper use of the Mixing Board. You can watch my Lessons 6a and 6b to gain a better understanding.
      To put it in the most simple of terms . . . the proper set-up of any live performance is for all the instruments and vocals to be routed through the mixer. With such a set-up, the next step is to obtain a proper mix. In your case, this means the audio technician needs to turn down the volume on the instruments so the vocals clearly rise above the instruments. This should be accomplished while the vocalist sings at a comfortable volume - even if it is a normal conversational level volume. The electronics do the work, not the vocalist.
      Once the correct balance is obtained . . . the main volume can be adjusted upward to make the entire musical set louder. But the mix will remain the same and the vocal will stand out above the instruments.
      Now, there are several things that may be causing this to not work for you and the band. Perhaps the instrumentalists are insisting upon bringing their own amps and speakers and they are not routing their signal through the mixer. Perhaps all instruments and vocals are running through the mixer, but the instrumentalists are having a me-me-me volume-war where each instrument is trying to increase their volume above the others. And finally, perhaps the band you are in does not value the vocalist as an important part of their style of music, or perhaps they only want a screaming vocalist. All of these reasons require discussion and respectful listening to resolve. And ultimately, the implementation falls into the hands of the audio technician in charge of the mixer.
      Perhaps it is time for you to save your voice and flee to another band!
      Keep me posted . . . I'd love to hear how your issue gets resolved!

    can someone tell me whats the function of the surround knob?

    • @g123gfr
      @g123gfr  7 лет назад +1

      I could not find any technical information regarding the "Surround" knob in the manual or on-line information. So the following is speculation on my part. Real surround sound requires more than two speakers or two channels. Since the PMP4000 only has Left and Right channels, I believe the "Surround" knob produces a slight delay and perhaps high/low filtering difference between the left and right output channels. In essence it is taking the selected effect and producing "fake stereo". Follow this link to Wikipedia to learn more about "fake stereo". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duophonic

    Hi I have a PMP6000 and I am only getting sound out of speaker A. In stereo mode, no sound out using the Mono1 mono , I am new to this board . Is it defective or is there something I am doing wrong. I remove the cable from B and plug into A and the Speaker works , no Power from B side of mixer? I also tried different cables and different Speak on adapters.

      Hi "musiciansnearyou" . . . I am happy to report that there are many different ways to not get sound out of Side-B . . . all of which are pilot error . . . hahaha!
      Of course it is possible that you have a defective board, but highly unlikely!
      So, there are numerous questions that I need to ask to help you trouble shoot the problem. But perhaps the best place to start is to make sure you have watched my video, especially around time 9:45 - 10:45.
      After re-watching that section of the video, a simple check would be to 1) move the "output mode" switch to its upper most position, 2) Make sure you have a sound source that is producing L/R output such as a mic plugged into a channel with the pan knob set to center, 3) Turn up the channel and Main-1 volume and see if you get sound out of A&B!! Lemme know how it turns out!

    Can you clarify about the FX button? Does not make any sense that one effect will apply to all channels at once.

      Sorry for the delayed response, I have been super busy tearing my kitchen apart. Look for "kitchen rippin" on my Facebook!
      Regarding the FX . . Ding,ding, ding,ding . . You are correct, it does not make sense for all channels to have the same effects all at the same time. Luckily the designers of the board happened to think about that idea themselves at the last minute, and they came up with a clever solution (I am being facetious here) .
      I hope by now you have discovered how to add effects to just one or two channels. If you look at any one channel strip, there is a dial that is labeled FX. You use this dial to set how much of the effects you wish to apply to that particular channel. For example let's say you wish for the lead singer to have some echo echo echo in his voice. you use the FX area to pick Echo, then you would turn the lead singers FX dial up and all the other channels FX dials would be turned down to minus infinity. Let me know how this works for you!

    Here is my question and thank you for any info you can provide... I run (per side).. a total of 6 ohms.. An eighteen inch sub woofer rated at 8 ohms.. and a two 15 inch cabinet with horns.. rated at 8 ohms.. for the total of the 6 ohms per side.. I have the same amp Behringer PMP 4000.. My speakers ( the 18" and the duel 15's ) are rated 500 watts RMS.. I would like to get more volume at our gigs during outside performance's.. We also run a 4 monitor system.. Two 15's at 500 watts.. and two smaller 12" daisy chained off of the 15's.. One per side.. so.. One 15" monitor is chained to one 12".. Only issue is the 12". is only rated at 100 watts.. Everything seems to be holding up fine. No distortion... I would just like to get more volume.. If possible..

    Can You PLZZZZZZ give me an Idea on how to run It in Bridged Mode??? The Manuel doesn't show a hookuo for Bridged mode? The only thing I want the Mixer to run is the Mains. 2 Berhinger 2x15's the Subs and Moniters will B Run off of separate Amps Thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      +DOGHOUSEMEDIA1 Hey Dog, thanks for watching! If you want to drive two Berhinger speakers, you should connect one speaker to powered output A and the other to output B. You would only use the "Bridge" mode if you only had one 8-ohm speaker that could handle the 1600W of power.Here's warning text from the Behringer 4000 manual. Also note, bridge mode requires special wiring connections to the twist connectors, as shown below.

    Does the PMP6000 have the same amount of power, or more? I notice it has more channels than the pmp4000, but does it have more power?

      Yes, of course. But you must use the output 1/4 inch jacks in the upper right of the board. this is shown and discussed in the video at times 1:20 and 12:00.
