ok serious question and if you have time pls answer, I saw ur alastor drawing vid (the math class one) how in the world do you draw from reference, especially a character, do you have any tips on it?
@@EclipsePlayzEdits thanks for the question. And a few tips that help me are: 1. It doesn’t haft to look exactly like the character, gust very close so that the viewer can recognize it. Even the animators of the show draw the character slightly differently from the creator, so don’t stress too much on every detail looking exactly the same 2. Look for unique features that are staples to the character. For example, amity has her iconic purple hair, bob cut, and bangs. Alastor red hair with black tips, and snazzy suit. These things make it immediately known who the character is, even if your fan art is not exact 3. Try and follow how the original is drawn, even if loosely. For example, in this Amity drawing, while looking at the reference I noticed that amity has 2 big strands of bangs with and some hair tucked behind her hair with her brown roots showing, with that in mind, I still added more strands but I made those 2 big stands clear, with the hair behind her ear. I still copied how her hair looks in the show, but I added a bit of ✨style ✨ 4. Make sure to get the right colors that match the character. Most characters is most shows have an iconic color. For example, amity’s purple, Sonic’s blue, Mario’s red, or Ben 10’s green. They all have a distinct color that you can immediately recognize. Mario wouldn’t be Mario if he had a red orange hat, and sonic wouldn’t feel the same with aqua quills. 5. Practice. Practice makes progress, your art won’t be perfect or how you want it the first time, but you’ll always get better with practice. I didn’t just wake up, good at art one day. I practiced drawing characters I liked since I was 8, and even though I didn’t start out good, I didn’t stop.
