- I Suck at Starcraft 2 is a tutorial series aimed at new/low-level players using the weapon of hindsight to analyse what could have been done better in my games and why they turned out the way they did.
What about when Ghost EMP doesn't work? Well, you could bring out something a little bigger.
"Having more money than the other guy"
"Having more DUDEZ than the other guy"
*dudez dudez dudez*
After watching the entire series in a night - You have seriously gotten better TB. Well done!
Very well played nuke tactics, those nukes where so very well placed and timed. Props mate.
Protoss guy should have been more aggressive.
TB UR GETTING BETTER DW!!! I've been watching you for a long time. I'm in plat and I ENJOY your videos. They are entertaining and funny and amazing. I acctually learn somethings from you at times. Thumbs uped!!
"Even if you built supply depots in shape of a smiling face..." damn it tb... it's so freaking great...
Miss you a lot TB.
RIP
"SLAM A REACTOR ON IT AND BUILD SOME GOD DAMN HELLIONS!" lmao!
awesome vid.I really love your strategies and how they work out so briliantly.
"Build 20 Supply depos in a shape of a goddamn smileyface" i loled xD
Watching these and the professional matches sooo much, and indeed, not even a player. Go figure :p
I absolutly agree with you, TB, having a big screen is actually hindering you from seeing what's going on near the edges, this is why pro players usually prefer medium or even small sized screens !
I don't even have Starcraft 2 or 1 but i still love watching these videos!
When he mentions that you can't throw money at the enemy, it reminded me of Final Fantasy X, where you can do that.
Yet again pure awesomeness by TB ,playing SC2 !!! MOAR stuff please and more DUDEs , its all about the dudes :D:D:D
14:30 This, everyone, is a Ball of Doom.
Nucular is a commonly used metathetic form of the word "nuclear". While it is usually regarded as a mispronunciation, and no dictionaries list this particular pronunciation as correct, several make mention of it because of its increased usage.
"and will then hopefully ram them in to the protoss's face repeatedly , until it either caves in, or I simply run out of fists with which to hit him." oh man, one of the best lines every! :D
"Having more dudes than the other guy, and making sure that you build those dudes as quickly as possible, and use them in a manner which is befitting of having lots of dudes."
LOL! Your videos always give me a good chuckle, very entertaining. Keep up the good work! =)
Best use of ghosts I have ever seen.
@Veora It was intense. Both of them. I was like 'Oh god is it going to hit they're moving out of it, now they're back in it, oh God they're out again, and they're i- BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!'
The problem for me when I watch the pro players is the huge disappointment when I log on and, in my mind, try to do the same thing as them. Doesn't really occur when I watch these videos.
Keep going mr. Biscuit, love your stuff!
That nuke on his stalkers was epic. I guess it is a good idea to have an observer with the army.
Niiice. I love a good successful nuke. I'm seeing more and more people use defensive nukes, particularly in the high leagues which is cool.
Good job landing two awesome nukes mid fight, its so satisfying to watch.
@TotalHalibut, if you are going to get that specific, Its Psi for Protoss, Control for Zerg, and Supply for Terran. I think people just call it food because it's a royal pain to try and keep up with all of that. I would never fault you for saying food. Keep up the good work! :D
Letting the SCV bringing the minerals back, before pulling him off the line.. Finally I found someone who does it too!
@wildefice1 As an example I shall use Terran, once a building ie barracks is selected press ctrl+1 and that is now a hot key. While in battle you press 1 once and the menu for that building is brought up. Hotkeys work with the numbers on your keyboard as you see them. Each race has a better layout to make this easier for you, you should put your army on 1-4 and buildings on 5-9 using 0 for upgrade buildings. Using shift adds new buildings to thus hotkey group and ctrl replaces hotkey group.
I really enjoy these video's as I'm a new Starcraft player and TB was saying he's cutting down on these so i don't exactly know what he's going to be cutting back on exactly but still i really enjoy these and learn a lot from them and I do think other people do as I've noticed they get a considerable amount more views then his other SC videos. So yeah this is basically feedback for the mods. If you guys actually read this. If anyone else agrees feel free to thumb up to let them know you do.
Ah the good old Mythbusters wisdom: everything is just sooo much better with either more Dakka or huge explosions.
Hell yes. Finally I see someone using nukes in a useful manner and somebody proving that they serve a purpose.
Thanks for this episode, I'm gonna wait for it process so i can watch this in 720p
TB, another good way to use nukes in low-level (or in any level of play) is to nuke clusters of Supply depots or Pylons. The central aoe portion of the nuke 1 shots them, and trading 5-15 supply buildings for 1 nuke where a low-level player will never look (they will check their mineral line and army, maybe) is well worth it.
This protoss had such a cluster at his natural for example.
TotalBiscuit is the most entertaining commentator to listen to ever.
Nice to see you've come a long way, back from ep. 1 of your series. As to improving your macro coordination, maybe one piece of advice: Use the same hotkeys for buildings each game. It has to be a no-brainer imo. I use 1 for all command centers, 2 for barracks, etc. Why is that? Because you hit all the hotkeys to check for unused buildings every 15 secs or so. Becomes 2nd nature. Try not to use queues... which is just bad play. Only 1 unit per building. Surplus money = make more buildings. HF!
Heres a little bit of help TB.
1-dont build a trust fund.if you need to make more unit producing buildings, make them
2-Dont que sack your barracks.it cost money the second you press the button
3-keybind keybind keybind.
4-lastly,make your Barracks ,Command Center, and other building as 4-5-6.press this constantly.Remember,Macro over micro
About darn time--better wait it out, or watch it as is!
@hoksomax Stim packs, Marines can be upgraded to use performance enhancing drugs. It's an activated ability that lasts for a few seconds, but it consumes a bit of health on your marines and marauders.
How to win Starcraft II by Total Biscuit:
1. Have more money than the other guy
2. Having more dudes than the other guy
3. Making sure you build those dudes faster than the other guy, and use them in a manner befitting to those dudes.
And there you have it.
@Twismyer It makes them a lot faster; they go from having a 1.88 movement speed to a 2.75, that's as fast as a Viking. Always get it, especially if you are going to have overlords and overseers around the map.
Yay! I was afraid we weren't gonna see more ISS2 for a while!
The best way I find it to help your macro is to always build 2 more unit producing structures every time you expand and get it up and running. Generally right by your natural or next expansion. Although the good things you did was keep focused on those upgrades. 3:1 upgrades help a great deal with the M/M ball.
Bravo biscuit bravo the most interesting and comical game I've seen in a while
because an RTS game is partially about fighting the UI, that is why they position things like they do, they want to bring out the multitasking in you and that's where the need to become a better player comes.
The first nuke was very impressive and a the second one? Priceless^^
for protoss those excess banked minerals can save the game, once you reach close to 15 warpgates and have the rest of your build done, those banked minerals allow you to warp in a whole army at once, so no counterattacks, and drops get stalkers to the face. you dont want to even think about banking till late game though.
A tear fell when all those stalkers died..
This one is one for the ages
That defensive nuke was epicly awesome!
those were actually effective nukes. If you nuke just outside your own base you can buy time for yourself to reinforce as well, its a pretty handy tactic. and if for some reason they dont notice, then even better
Smiley face supply depot pattern... This idea could revolutionize Starcraft 2
That was the first time I actually see nukes being effective and killing something.
"Food" IS in fact also a StarCraft term. In SC1 there was already the warning message "not enough food, build more pylons" or something like that.
TB, you are getting better!!
I am looking forward to the day he says "I am total Biscuit and I don't suck at star craft 2!"
His zealots in the big ball of doom never even touched TB's army because they were stuck in the middle of the stalkers.
Please TB, continue with these series, it helps me alot!
Captain, they're gutting us, we've got nothing else to shoot! What should we do?
THROW THE MONEY!!
It was totally worth watching this with Transcribed Audio on XD
"Where do you assume this nuke is? Probably in the base. Maybe it isn't. No it isn't. It's in. Your. Face."
Build 20 goddamn supply depots in the shape of a smiley face! best advice ever!
@baut33 On a technical level it is possible for him to do a live recording, but on a gameplay level it's not really piratical. The reason being is when playing a strategy game against people, you need to be 100% focus on what your doing otherwise you might overlook something which will end up being fatal.
wow hit me right on te mark totalbiscuits i don't even have the game but i do enjoy ur awesome narrating.
TB, at the end: Most common with terran.
Yes, perhaps it's common, but it is just as useful with protoss (warp ins
Keep in mind :)
@MrPhilBerg SC2 matches can be played at different speeds, most games are played in the "fast" setting.
Nice lesson in between day9's shows.
the nuke is like what did the 5 fingers said to the face. SLAP
now, you could call this an explosive presentation of various usages of the Ghost?
You know, I don't think I've ever seen TB play Zerg. This needs to happen.
ghost is swiss army knife, and nukes are fun to watch, got it!
heres a little thing that might help with your supply block problem, cause it worked for me: just get a little post-it note on the side of the screen (at a place you look often, like the minimap) that says "supplyblock >:(". for me it helped a lot, hope it does for you to :D
I cried laughing when the 2nd nuke hit his force, evil luck :D
@baut33 It's much better to commentate afterwards, since you can actually see what's going on in a replay, like following the economies, seeing the enemy player, and having more comparison.
I love it when TB says marauder:)
This series has made me want to get Starcraft II.
Unfortunately, it'll be a while before I can...
have you bought it yet
xD
Third nuke was brilliant.
build supply depos in the shape of a smiley face. Okay thanks for the tip! Ill do it next game!
lmfao "build some GD supply depots in the shape of a smily face" awsome sause. i want to see someone do that
@drag0nfig0 that is two full turns therefore she walk right into you not away. works with 480 though
I could say that Simpsons quote is not completely correct, but its too awesome, so im gonna shut up and enjoy another great episode oh this! Cheers!
OMG NUKES *creams pants* That was one of the best nuking ive ever seen. TLO'esque. SO AWSOME!
u made my day when u were saying if u had to much money to spend it on something. "build 20 supply depots and put them in the shape of a smiley face" funny stuff. keep up the good work cuz ur getting super good compared to ur first "i suck at starcraft 2" vid
@NanoReaper My thoughts exactly!
I have a 22" one right now and even though I think I could handle a 24" one, but I don't think it would be optimal
TB, i usually hotkey a probe in my mineral line just so while im doing things i can think "oh shit i need to build something" *push hotkey and bring probe out to build w/e i need to build). It just helps me build things faster. Maybe that could help you get your initial build down on time
"other than entertain you with mass explosions" and entertain us you did!
I love your sound effects TB ^_____________^
when i have too many minerals in the mid/late game i usually queue up some supply depots on an SCV, great for dumping em and also keeps you from being supply blocked
That has to be the luckiest nuke in the entire history of SC2
if you know your going to lose a batte dont be afraid to back out, its better to save more of your units to take out a couple more of thiers
Totally making a supply depot smiley face now.
i actually bought the game because of these videos.
Look at how many buildings he had powered off 2 pylons..... that would have been crushing
Don't build colossus, build high templars!
His strategy at the beginning reminded me of the Soviets in WW2.
By the way TB, i'd love to see you play and publish some Raven play videos!
Massing Ravens is one of the most fun Terran strats i've played, and it'll be a good watch :)
@hoksomax Stimpack, stim for short, is an injection administered in combat by soldiers in the Terran army.
Not sure what the stuff is made out of. Probably amphetamine and adrenaline.
OH GOD I WAS SO WRONG...
I thought it meant, Good luck Helmet Fucker!
Oh shit... wow... I think I pissed off a lot of people... so that's why they didn't say GG at the end of my games... well, shit.
@hoksomax He says "stim" and its a buff called stimpack that you can activate if you learn it
I am going to place all my overlords in a smilyface from now on, just for the lols.
YES best series of this englishmaeen!
When I use nukes I either go with their mineral line, defensively like we saw at the end or if they walled off their base, sort of like the C4 that blows open the door to let my army in (VERY effective against P or Z)
