- I Suck at Starcraft 2 is a tutorial series aimed at new/low-level players using the weapon of hindsight to analyse what could have been done better in my games and why they turned out the way they did.
I have a new training partner and by the looks of it, I'm about to enroll in the School of Hard Knocks. These are 2 out of a series of 3 games, the last one is in another video coming tonight, due to it's length.
I can't get enough of you TotalBiscuit, your videos are amazing. Honestly? you can talk about anything and I'll enjoy it. I'm still learning English and listetning to you is a great way to improve my "hearing and understanding" skills . Thank you!
The 2nd video is the greatest video I've ever seen, so glad I decided to watch this series tonight, I am in tears over here...having difficulty breathing
@Arandil91 Teaching how to properly deal with that kind of harassment (and let's be honest, that was not a bronze-league 6-pool, that was it done right) is important.
@Naxadium Let's be honest, if I'm interested in learning quicker, I'll watch Day9, not play-by-play casters. I certainly wouldn't want anyone to try watching my SHOUTcraft matches to try and learn anything, that's for sure.
These videos rock! You're much more fun to listen to than playing the actual game!
@Snipes432 An early gas can mean a great number of things.
@hobbesrs Which would involve having researched it.
one major tip for playing terran, when you have a production building and you want to switch the add on, build the add on north or south (two squares i believe) and your first add on is still usable. also if you want to be able to switch between the two quickly, it makes add on switches really fast. yes it effectively make the building large but depending on playstyle can be worth it.
@ZeusSchultz It's a tutorial, not a casted tournament game, your point isn't valid.
@midnan I think it's some kind of techno band.
@nazi8per 5 is also a joke I might add, though sperglords do not have a sense of humour that we are aware of :>
at least you have a foundation on what to do next time and u learn from ur mistakes. I didn't even know what u were talking about when u first said 14 pool and 7 pool. I'm learnin a lot here, thx 4 the vid!
Right when you said Baneling Bust my video stopped for a minute
Great to see you're still doing the isuck at starcraft series :)
You rule Halibut.
@fleetwoodsucks I'm not wasting my time uploading to Blip
You have to continue this series. I came for the WoW content but I'm staying in part because of this series.
After losing a few ladder games these vids really cheer me up!
TotalBiscuit- "One base battlecruiser is a bad idea..."
*Then devises a build that is all about that...
Yes, mineral starvation was a problem during the first game. However, (I don't know how long this was the case) towards the end of the match you clicked your factory and it displayed a queue of somewhere around 8 extra helions. That would be an extra 800 minerals you had but could not use because you didn't want to keep track of production.. So, a good thing to point out would be: keep queues short so as to keep as many available resources around as possible.
I absolutely love this series.
I am a beginner (Terran player) and I learned so much from your videos. Thank you.
Also I always tried for 111 build to get fast techs and weapons but I was always owned by early rush. :(
so, i was playing with an elastic the entire video and right at 18:02 when you said "boned", my elastic snapped and hit me in the face. i love timing.
Seriously guys, I'm using Firefox and Adblock Plus and I've never seen a commercial on youtube. Oh, and Biscuit: keep up the good work! As a german, listening to your accent is not only understandable but thanks to your humor, I can't stop watching your vids! Nevertheless, I also suck at Starcraft2!
Just a thought. You can use add-on you've previously built on future buildings. Like lifting off the factory to use the reactor for the starport, and you could've gotten banshees from the same starport that built the ravens. Had no need for the second startport. maybe use that empty barracks with the tech lab on the starport to research infantry upgrades. Good luck in future games. :-)
@UpTheIrons1994 Sup. Humour is subjective, time to get over that fact.
This is hilarious! :3 I wonder if in a couple years we'll tune back in and see you as some cho-gosu that has won the GSL 3 times in a row. Yes, no? Just playing, TB!
I don't understand why people are complaining so much about quality. Its a series of gameplay not showing off how good the graphics have gotten. Half the twits probably watch this muted while playing music in the backround wondering what this is suppose to be about. Good to see that you don't rage at others too when they give you their crap and useless ideas that obviously cant change the outcome of something thats already happened. Keep up the great commintaries
@fleetwoodsucks RUclips quality > Blip.tv, try watching it in a proper resolution.
@MrIrgendeinscheiss Did using RUclips ruin your ability to speak in all other mediums, including this one?
Being drawn in by a voice is kinda the idea of a good commentator. And a good commentator is his professional day job.
Be careful, a timed baneling bust push can hit just after the 6 minute mark...and have enough to blast through a supply depot + bunker. You really should just rax wall or simply get a few hellions to kill the lings after the banelings sacrifice to kill your buildings. Air is a little slow unless your block is amazing, but hellions are good enough against ling/bling until zerg gets air, but if it goes BB it won't have air.
I can't help but have Yakety Sax playing in my head during the second game.
It really is. *wipes sweat off self* It really, really is.
"This is TotalBiscuit, and welcome to another episode of 'I Suck At Starcraft Twooooooooo. Because I doooooooo".
If that was impromptu, then much greatness.
lol on the starport the horde symbal is on the platform in the middle of the starport i got a good look just when you were looking at it
@Reapent Yep, but Raven's are primarily support :P so a few of em with MMM set up and you're so invincible. Or with seige tanks and thors with some ravens. It's awesome. I love Ravens.
APM, for those of you who haven't spent just a tiny amount of effort into researching that, stands for Actions Per Minute.
A decently skilled player is able to reach 250+, an insane computer reaches around 450.
5 is very novice.
Hmm.
I usually get gas before pool, just so I can get zergling speed ASAP, in order to better deal with reapers.
Depending on my plan, I could take drones off of gas, or save up for muta/ling.
Bring a second SCV from the line to take down the drone and have that be its only job. Never take the SCV off building unless another is about to replace it. You simply can't afford that time most of the time. It should even cause problems later in your game because their stalkers or hydras are up an additional 3+ seconds before they should be. Nice progress being made here overall however. I'll practice with you :D.
@irwatchvids That sounds like some retarded anime bullshit.
I quite enjoy watching these low-skill replays (not that i'm super skilled myself).. Makes me feel so much better.. Well i'm sure you're aware of a lot of your mistakes and general things you can improve.. Just advice that i feel you might be able to use - Try to focus less on "countering" of units, and what works well against what.. Might be your recent playing of R.U.S.E which gives you that mind set, but its easier to focus on macro'ing if you do a simple tac such as mass MM, or helion/tanks.
Wow are those cracklings? They wrecked those 3 vikings in about 2 seconds.
dude ur videos rock, and i feel they are helpfull to new players. and you make funny comments about ur playing errors. i enjoyed the drone harrasment and the little prancing zerglings comments :)
wow the second game was quite amazing on absalom's part. very gg indeed... now off to watch that drone play again :D
I was seven when i started warcraft 3 and played starcraft broodwars guess wich two races i played :3 (Spoiler Undead with necromancers as my main soldiers and the frost breathing dragons and the zerg with the burrowing spiders )
@thebigegg123 I should have guessed :>
i never played SC but i love to watch the Replays with comments.
@AlzuraGames Unlikely.
I like your attitude towards your own progress.
Personally I come for his winning complexion ;)
Another possibility of early gas would be quick Speedlings.
jeez the only thing missing from that drone harassment is benny hill theme music
Quick gas for Zerg can, and usually, means fast speedlings. Just a heads up Mr. Biscuit.
After reading the tags, I thought this video was a Starcraft Tutorial Guide: How-to Suck at TotalBiscuit. Luckily, I was proven wrong.
@GeekSavy he will never be replaced
'My name is Total Biscuit''
O.o You had a really mean mom.
@pimiznogood Your criticism sucks. You've provided nothing of any interest or value. There's a reason good critics get paid money for what they do and bad critics get ignored, because proper criticism, requires critical thinking, which the vast majority of the population are incapable of doing and requires training in the arts of objectivity and logic before you can do it properly.
So basically, I can take as much criticism as you can level at me and I'll ignore it all because it's bad.
@0Murray0 Yea~ never mind :P should have finished watching the video before commenting, that was quite one sided, it's just his beginning was shaky but his mid game was diamond level.
Just a note: early gas is most likely for speedlings, actually.
lol at 3:40 i was like "did he just kill his own drone?" and then i re-winded the video and saw what actually happened
UUUUGHHHH Fridays suck, I always wake up knowing I'll have to wait all day to listen to Blue Plz X_X
Does anyone else think that Totino's pizza rolls commercial is ridiculously stupid? You know what the best part about basketball is? Eating processed shit afterwards, that'll make ya feel good.
haha i like how you switched to starport reactor, but at the same time made sure you could never use that tech lab again.
Thanks for the video, I'm not sure I learned anything about SC2 but the public self-flagelation was entertaining :)
loving the series
the reason you forgot to saturate your mineral line i called a brain fart in my town. it's when you forgot to think about ANYTHING for some time. Happens to me sometimes :P
the early rush can be delayed and sometimes stopped by using all your scvs to attack the lings. It still takes some micro though
@EvenHummROCKS Are you off your medication again. The doctor told you that if you don't take your pills, the voices will come back!
@CssHDmonster 5
I found his first starcraft vid looking for minecraft now Im addicted to starcraft
Totalbiscuit, don't mind the criticism these videos are super super funny i really enjoy them. So keep it up!
In that situation I would of went to the bottom left of the map and started fresh...but made it seem like I was using my main base.
There is a horde symbol on your starport! D: 5:53
The destiny cloud fist build xD
Hunter Seeker Missile would've decimated his muta/ling, if you would've researched it. People don't use it very often anymore, but it's still amazing.
What you could actually do is go Thor/Helion while massing the ground vehicle Attack Upgrade against his Ling/Muta, the lings can't compete with mass Blue Fire Upgraded Helions and Muta ball, well just gets demolished by mass upgraded Thors.
It's much better to morph to orbital before flying as it builds up energy. You should send your scvs by ground, or medivac if neccessary.
"i am playing so bad here, it's not even funny" - yes, i definitly rofl'd :)
The second game was awesome. Only a pro would be able to do so much diversion with only one drone to buy enough time for a Zergling rush.
if he scouts that early you know hes not at the far position so that rules out one. ive seen people waste precious scouting time, and that has lost them the game from scouting the wrong direction
Ah ha! As Terran you don't really want to be in a react and counter state of mind. Terran is really good at forcing the opponent to do what he wants him to do.
Hellions are actually a really BAD option against banelings. They are light, which means banelings deal extra damage, and baneling's AREN'T light, which means hellions take forever to kill them.
I'm happy to see the guy you're playing with is of similar level or at least not a gold+ league :P. Playing with a high level player that just toys with you is just discouraging.
@feggehahaha Indeed and I will continue to do so until you learn how to spell the word 'douche'.
Those starports have a horde symbol on them :o
reaaaaally fascinating wall ;)
Gas before pool usually means speedlings
@saltytaable lol husky named it that because he wanted something better to call it than 111. But when you consider other builds are stuff like 7-pool, 4gate etc, 111 doesn't sound so bad. But yeah, destiny cloud fist ftw :D
@falconiqx actually banshees need a tech lab to be built
@jorge12app Silver
You should try the Rush challenge on single player... it helps. Although you don't get Drone harass. So maybe it doesn't...
Nice drone harassment o.o Good vid TB.
@TotalHalibut It's Husky's invented name for it. IT IS THE DESTINY CLOUDFIST BUILD :O
Most epic commentary.
@hobbesrs Oh yeaaahhh. So dumb XD
`Hear this: I became frustrated with the fact that you lost. I became angry when I saw that he blocked your barracks. I became angry because I got sucked up in the story, zomg. BTW, the film 'Kick-Ass' rocks. (No ad btw, just a recommendation)
DAAAAMN! I really want to play multiplayer, but I want to finish the single player first! Just two levels to go!
0:42 horde sign on command centre? i never noticed that b4?
@TotalHalibut You have to watch Husky's vids if you don't know that a "Destiny Could Fist build" is!
Actually it's also the basis for my real life name, Axel. Absalom was some priest in medieval times.
