You saying you’d love to see the screen time for the people who say they “don’t have time to read” like… YEESSS! Because baby, you be reading Facebook for an hour. Put the phone DOWWNN and get off my back 😤😂
Listening to a book counts BUT I understand wanting it to be defined separately because reading and listening are two different experiences and exercises.
Yes, I agree trying to over extend yourself to read as much as possible is not fun. Now if you naturally read a lot have a blast! But don’t try to do more than is normal for you.
Also I will say I love the book buying experience too something about it makes me so happy!! even if it takes me forever to actually read it but it truly is a hobby and so much fun! just to walk around the store smell the books lol it’s a whole vibeeee or even going to the library! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 love love love
No, Kyrah I didn’t get mad. You should do a part 2. Lol. I’m one of those people that don’t count audiobooks as reading, but I don’t discredit those who are blind, etc. It’s reading for them and I can’t take that away from them because of my opinion. I do like to listen to an audiobook while I’m busy.
Yessss please do a part two!!! Loved this lol I love audiobooks especially when I don’t have time to sit down and read that way! I also have ADHD so the ableist perspective is real lol sometimes I get so distracted and literally have to re-read a page so many times 🤣or re-listen but that’s why I love the audiobooks! it’s so true we should not judge others!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 And kindle reading is top tier especially at night or at the beach and not wanting to ruin a book. Speed reading I feel like I can’t truly enjoy a book that way
I am not a speed reader, but there are parts in books that I will speed read because I think there is fluff & it’s personally meaningless ? It’s kind of like speed watching a video and I still understand what is being said and didn’t completely ignore it. Definitely would like to see a part 2 of this video!
Whenever I am super excited about a book I will listen at an average speed like 1.7x just to soak it in and not finish so fast. Audiobooks are just the adult version of our parents reading a book to us when we were little. “Did you read The Giving Tree? “ “Yes, my mom read it to me. “ I wouldn’t be able to read with two kids if it wasn’t for audiobooks lol Part 2 is a must! 💛
yay another video this week !!! I literally have never been a reader, but since you changed your channel to more reading content, I’ve read 15 books since July hah !!!! :)
I am currently reading fourth wing on my Kindle and I can say I also have the physical copy and I haven’t touched it. I’ve had it for months. Reading it on my Kindle is so much better for me.
i love to read but i can’t lie.. i just couldn’t pick up a book these last 9 months.. being pregnant i realized that it was hard to stay focused or even remember to read because my attention got shorter lol. I was also always sleeping literally. I hope to get back into books once i fully recover after birth and stuff. I really want to share my love of books with my kids 🤍😊
I listened to some audiobooks on Libby at 2 or 3 times speed. I know it sounds crazy but hear me out! Some of the books were read a little to slow for me and it held my attention better on a faster speed. So yes I still absorbed and comprehended the book well. Now physically reading a book I rarely read books fast because I end up having to stop. Some stories I have just kept reading until I finished but it still took a decent amount of time.
I agree with you to an extent on you have time in your schedule for what you make time for whether that is hobbies or reading or etc. but you cannot deny there is definitely a privilege in working from home and that adding to the time you have for books and other tasks readily available to you in your home. Time is 1000% a privilege but I do agree that it is only your responsibility to make the most of what you have.
This is my job so I’m not talking about myself in this example! I totally agree! I wouldn’t point the finger bc it’s not anyone else’s job haha, I’m more-so comparing people who work jobs outside of their hobbies to each other. I know people that work 9-5 jobs and still read 10 books a month so I think my take still stands
i love seeing the boys in the. background because i have been following since you were pregnant with the first, it’s crazy to see how big they are. i agree with all your takes
Love the video! As a speed reader who has a toonnn of practice, I want to throw my two cents in. I speed read for very specific situations, for example, textbooks in college that I needed to get through and just understand the main idea quickly. But if we are talking fiction and I am just reading for pure entertainment... I will speed read only when it is a book I have read a million times and am trying to sprint to a specific part. I prefer that over marking a book because I read so much I forget characters and need a refresher lol. Another time I will speed read in fiction is over like smut or just a part of the book that I am not loving. Or I may naturally fall into speed reading if I am just obsessed with a book and my brain is trying to basically read as fast as possible. I think speed reading is an amazing tool for people when you have situations that make sense for it. Adding it to your tool- box for reading is a great aid in very specific situations. Annnyywwayy thanks to whoever read up until this point!
I LOVED this video🥰📚 I highly agree with your take on physical books/digital books being equal…..I used to be a physical book snob, but I got an iPad & love both now😂 Also, is having a “book saving habit” as a reader an individual or universal experience, bc I feel like the only one??? I have a fair amount of books that are unfinished with a chapter or a couple left bc I don’t want the book to end🥹🤣😅😅 I don’t do this with shows or movies tho LOL.
You’ve change my perspective on audiobook especially concerning people with disabilities and what it means to absorb or consume the story. (As someone with dyslexia I was raise to believe that reading is only done buy physical books) so I’m definitely gonna try an audiobook book. Any suggestions please? Also book buying is a dangerous hobby lol 😂.
I have a 3 month old baby and got a Kindle for Christmas specifically because I had just finished a 500+ paged book and could not imagine holding a book like that with a baby in my arms so I had to plan ahead. I planned on reading the fourth wing and waited until I got my kindle to read it because I refused to buy another book with 400+ pages at that point. I read both the Fourth Wing and Iron Flame on my kindle in January. They were the first two books I read on my Kindle. My daughter was born in May, and I’ve read 6 books since July because I have my Kindle. I read while I breastfeed and while she naps. It helps me stay up in the middle of the night while she’s feeding and while I’m burping her. I’m not ok TikTok so idk what’s going on over there lol but over heeeeeere, the Kindle is top tier.
Sometimes booktok can be toxic by trying to read as many books and make it a competition. You don’t get a cookie because you read 10+ books in a month.. like some of us have corporate jobs and there’s only so much time in a day 😭😭 pls!!! I set a goal annually. Example: 50 books in a year. I’m at book 30 since January. Some months it’s 2 books, others 4, 5, 8, etc (depends on the pages and my availability) and a mix of audio via Libby and that’s okay.
I hate to disagree. But I have come to hate book adaptations. It started with Harry Potter, then Bridgerton series and a lot more. That’s why immediately I heard the mixed review on It Ends With Us, I decided not to watch it again. For some reasons, it aggravates me when I see even the slightest difference between a book and the film adaptation. I guess I am just always too obsessed with novels that I love😭🤦🏽♀️
We need a part 2! My hot take is reading an ebook on an actual kindle is a toottaallllyy different experience than reading an ebook on the kindle app (on your phone/ipad) 😬 The actual kindle ink just HITS DIFFERENT 💆🏻♀️

Agreed! If you ask me about a book and I can answer the questions accurately, it DOES NOT MATTER the format I used to absorb the information. 🫶🏽

I agree about the people who say they don’t have time to read most likely spend their free time on their phone.
I don’t like anyone touching my books. That’s fighting words😂
Kyrah defending the working moms who have to listen to audiobooks while they maintain their household but are still readers 😢🎉❤
I agreed with a lot of your feedback on these topics!! I also equally love reading physical books vs ebooks.
the audiobook comment 🙄 I agree with Kyrah… lol
Whenever I am super excited about a book I will listen at an average speed like 1.7x just to soak it in and not finish so fast.

I think audio counts! But I always do both. So I never fully listen to a book I read at least half just to still get that reading experience!
I am truly an Auditory learner. I can’t sit down and read a book. I would never get into it 😅. Just the way my brain works 🤷🏻♀️
Some times the audiobook is even better than the physical! Like Any Man by Amber Tamblin!
Please do part 2 🤍
Yes Part 2 please 😊 loving these videos ❤

What’s considered speed reading?
basically when you don’t read every word on a page you just kinda glaze over it to get the general idea
@@KyrahStewart ooooh okay
