BookTok can be pretty ridiculous. Readers should be excited to have more people joining the hobby. There are sooo many genres of books, that there is literally something for everyone. Just because you don’t like a certain author or type of book, doesn’t mean you should crap on the people who enjoy them. I don’t like Colleen Hoover books, but I would never call someone who likes them “non-readers.” That’s so absurd.

Absolutely! Personally romance books aren't my thing but I love seeing others enjoy them. I swear some people grow a superiority complex when it comes to books and book genres and its not nice.

I feel personally attacked with the seven husbands of evelyn hugo, it made me cry so much and it was a five star for me, obviously it's totally fine if people didn't like it!!!

I'm convinced people who write bully romance have never been bullied a day in their life because if they did they would understand that bullying is NOT a "brutal" way of showing someone you like them, but a way for people who feel inferior to elevate themselves at the expanse of others. And listen if the person that was bullied want's to forgive their bully they have every right to do so, but how tf do you want a healthy relationship with someone who gave their significant other trauma?? F that.

Ugly love is one of my least favourite books I have ever read. Half the book is his love story and obsession with another girl. Tate was instantly obsessed with him because of how “hot he is” and he treated her like garbage. She felt like a second choice next to Rachel
I didn’t love ugly love either, however, the whole point of the “7 years earlier” parts is to go back and show us the story of miles and rachel. I think Tate was interested in him for other reasons as well. yes, she thought he was good looking, but she talks abt wanting to get to know him for his past. also, the point of it in the beginning was only a physical attraction so i can see what you mean but i also think there’s other ways to look at it.
I just feel like you can’t hate on Miles’ behavior because Tate knew what she was in for and still tried to push him to open up, yes it worked eventually but like she KNEW AND AGREED to keep it strictly physical.. so yeah it is kinda the point as well to find your friend with benefits hot like.. lmao imagine. but anyways she is a grown ass woman and she knew. that’s all. and if she was like nope I can’t handle you treating me like this then leave miss girl

i absolutely agree with you. First of all, it is NOT a romance book. its NOT. Most of Colleen Hoovers books are basically romanticised abuse. Miles treated Tate horribly, and Tate was not even the main character - the book was about a sibling relationship between Miles and Rachel. Ugly love and November 9 are one of the worst books i have read. No hate tho everyone can have opinions :)
The letting someone borrow a book from me is so true though. I’ve let two people ever borrow a book from me, one of them got glue on the cover and half of it is kind of like water damaged, and the second person fully spilled their water bottle on it accidentally…. Up the second person is buying me a brand new version of the book I lent them
My unpopular opinion (I'm sure LOL) I HATE HATE HATE...when I'm researching a book whether its on YT, TT, Booktok etc and the poster/someone in the comments give away the tropes. Ohhh...this is enemies to lovers, childhood friends to lovers, fake dating etc. I can't even!! I don't want to know any of the tropes cuz I feel like it gives away what the books gonna be about. I always have to hurry up and MUTE or scroll to try an avoid that. For me, it's like...well why read it now? they basically told me what it's about. ALSO, 7 Husbands...meh. Like someone said in the vid...had to MAKE myself finish it. I DNF'd for a bit, but decided to finish. I liked it, it was good...but overall for me "ok."
Right? And when it's something that is a major spoiler like "oh I hated this romance book because I hate the surprise pregnancy trope". LIKE, hmmm let me guess what the huge plot is going to be in this romance book

OMG OMG the friendship adds more to the book comment was mine!! I meant I love when the main characters have close friends that are involved in the book. I feel like so often romances don't show the characters with other people like friends or family but I loveee when they do. I think it gives them more depth and makes me able to imagine the character as a person outside of their pending relationship. It also usually is funny and relateable and I love that.
I'm a 58yr young woman.. I really enjoyed the story from "A Thousand Boy Kisses". Not in my age group, however the story moved me. ❤
I'm a 30 year old woman and it made me bawl my eyes out. I was also on my period when I read it though 😅

My unpopular opinion: I liked Every Summer After more than Love and Other Words. So many people compare them and say Every Summer After was just a rip off of Love and Other Words.

Yes!! So sad how people hate lately. We should all be happy that people are enjoying reading again. I may say I didn't like a book but I'll never ever hate on someone for liking it. I think it's so neat how we all like/dislike different things

I only have read 4 of her books but I can't really connect with her characters and her men sometimes feel the same to me but I don't hate or dislike her and reading her books is reading, I don't get where that came from. I will read her books tho.

The only way I got through it was listening to the audio book because all the people in the book had a different reader. I literally got to the end and said "this is what everyone was raving about?"
I had to DNF Throne of Glass. Really couldn't get into it. I am curious about ACOTAR through and may read the first one soon.

I liked Seven Husbands, but cant say the same about Malibu Rising. It was ok, I liked it at first when we get to know each character, but after Taylor J-R started introducing sooo many other ones I felt it went flat, mostly bc I love books when characters have a chance to develop during the book and in this one there were a lot of them and it was just too hard for me to feel connected and involved, also I felt like we didn't get enough of main characters in the second part of the book and that was really disappointing for me. I think this book could be some much better if it focused more on less of them, but do it more in depth.
At some point, I was just meh.
I really need to know what you thought about Gerard Gibson, he is one of my favourite characters ever!!

I don’t think I’ll ever read CoHo and here’s why: I’m physically disabled and I was verbally and emotionally abused for two and a half years. I’ve heard about spoilers for some of her books and I just can’t 😢
A thousand boy kisses is actually overrated, i didn't liked it at all my friends tend to love it but i find it so cheesy and cringe. I wanted to DNF the book but i somehow thought it would change my mind by the end of the book but it didn't.
I mean considering it was made for a younger audience I think maybe that's why it was cheesy. I haven't read the book but from what I have seen I think that's why.

Connor Cobalt who refused to put on a condom for his first time with Rose even though she asked for it, also when Rose said she was pregnant the first time, he was just like: You are not having an abortion. Like? It wasn't a question, concern for her, how does she feel about the whole situation etc it was just like you are not getting it. So yeah....

Book-tok has become SO toxic and hypercritical. Like every other video on my fyp is some person literally just hating and spreading SO much negativity on authors/books. And not only that but they literally invalidate people who read certain books (ex. coho books). Also, they are blatantly ableist and say that listening to audiobooks is not considered reading….that is offensive on so many levels. Idk I loved being on book tok but now it’s just a game of “I’m better than you because I read this”
So sad how people literally bully other people for their taste in books. I have many opinions that people will disagree with and there are things that I heavily disagree with as well, however we don’t have to be mean to people. I personally hate Coho books however I get why people like them. I constantly see people on TikTok talk shit about Ya thrillers and people who like to read them. Like can we stop? It’s BOOKS 📚 we’re supposed to be enjoying ourselves people 😂

I personally relate to Normal People. The story is literally how I lived my early 20's (minus the travel and stuff lol) and I still HATED the book. It's the only book I've ever rated 1 star😅😅😅

Unpopular opinion: A lot of books released nowadays are just bad. Too many typos, bad grammar, no depth in characters and mediocre plots.
I still mostly read books written before 2010, I feel the content back then was made with more thought and attention.
I remember someone told me that they don't DNF books because they only respect people's opinions if they read the entire book. So now I can't DNF a book because I want my true 1-star rating to be respected LOLL

I loved the first book in the summer I turned pretty and honestly wish it stopped there the other two books were quite unecessary but I did like the ending of the last book. I absolutely hate the TV series though, not only was it extremely cringey the whole time, but also the plot was completely changed and it had no relation to most of the book. The whole debutante thing was so dumb and unneeded. So yeah the show sucked but the books were pretty good 👍
