- I didn't take my own advice to ask the price upfront before buying anything and see what happened to me in Karachi, Pakistan. I ended up being charged 9 times the local amount! I'd been treated so well across Pakistan, that I stopped asking prices because people weren't trying to take advantage of me. That ended in Karachi with this foreigner tax which reminded me to put my guard up again.
Before you enjoy a haircut and massage, always ask the price upfront in Pakistan or India! This goes for any service you take. If you want to find out the local prices, shop around at nearby stores and gauge the price. Or ask at your hotel reception for an estimate.

As a Pakistani, I'm really ashamed and embarrassed.
I learned the same lesson in Hyderabad with my first tuk tuk ride 🙈 I had not negotiated a price first, then I was overcharged and found that after that, all the other tuk tuks suddenly had faulty meters 🤣🤣🤣 You can't blame them. Not every one is like that but as tourists in any country, we must be wise and aware. I loved the fact that he did it with a smile on his face 😄

The other hair dresses with fancier shop might not have said Rs 20 for hair cut, because I live in Karachi and the minimum rate started around Rs 200+ just for hair curt. And now in year 2022 it is like Rs250+.

I travel to Key Biscayne (Miami), London (UK) or Lyon (France) these areas 5/6 times a yr on business and have never paid that for a full haircut and beard trim. I admit I did not ask for a massage but I did have my hair washed and dried and still it never cost the equivalent of 2000RKR. Sorry just my experiences. Even Rock thought it expensive and he should know. I’ve never been to India or Pakistan, so I’ve never experienced the costs associated with grooming.
