I agree..I lived in Dubai for 10 years....I never once saw a beggar. I read about some people trying to beg for money for fuel for their car at the Chinese Mall..but other than that..
The way that I always shut them down quickly is by telling them that I have some work for them to do if they want the money, like cutting grass or painting the garage. Try it and see how quickly they'll walk away.
The guy is very well spoken and convincing. With his natural talent he could become a salesman. It's sad he has to resort to scamming instead of earning an honest living.
As a local, we never face situations like tourists do which is sad tbh.. they seem to be very comfortable with tourists knowing that worst case would be walking away with nothing unlike us they know for a fact we wont let it slide, always report once they leave just to be safe, illegal immigrants don't fear anything
They might be desperate so ..... People don't want problems in my experience but truth is with money and food being limited everyone will not end up well.
I'm impressed you were upfront and told him "I don't trust you" and called him out on it. I have always made up some story about how I have no cash, I'm busy, or just walked away like I didn't hear them. I need to be more like Karl, it's alot less stressful that way.
Thank you Karl for making these videos exposing and standing up to scammers, it gives me courage to stand up to them myself. Been scammed at the airport so many times myself and I always feel like an idiot after.
I saw that in London a few years back. A young Muslim woman was approached by someone, the first question was "Are you Muslim". It was obvious she was. He asked her for some money allegedly for food, took advantage of her good nature, and needless to say, went looking for the next person to scrounge from. I truly regret not stepping in upon his immediate request to her.

He chooses to because it is very profitable
@@JustSomeGuyWithAMustache886 or he just can’t find work
Amazing how he can still have a reasonable conversation with scammers. A good person and smart.

Why did he say he was Liberian? Do you have any idea?
@@AamuAurora Because people feel no sympathy for Nigerians. Saying you're Liberian makes you sound almost western.
People hear "Nigerian" and they translate it to "scammer" in their brain.
He doesn't have a Latin accent so he can't lie about being from a French, Spanish, nor Portuguese speaking country in Africa. The South African accent is well known, so no one will believe him when he says he's S. African.

What does spirit animal mean? An animal immersed in spirit?
@@503945158 In Native American culture, a spirit animal is a spirit that takes the form of an animal to guide a person through their lives. An animal form is related to the characteristics of the person.
When people say "___ is my spirit animal" it's part of Western culture whitewashing Native American culture and spirituality. Western culture treats Native American culture as a trendy mythology.

If a scammer approaches you, literally just keep walking and dont make eye contact. If they get you stuck waiting on a street light or an elevator, just keep walking and circle round back in a min or two. NEVER respond when a stranger uses the phrase "big man"

I'm from Scotland and I will admit I usually used to have this negative effect with people who weren't obviously from the UK, I grew up with a lot of bad disasters etc but your channel has really opened my eyes to how good everyone is and that I was just uneducated and how I was complacent on a narrowminded mindset that was drilled into me from a young age so I genuinely thank you for giving me education of accepting people for who they are and understanding that putting everyone in the bad apple basket due to some bad things happening is stupid.

Best comment I've read all month. That's super cool! Anytime you broaden your horizons or learn new things it's good for you. I've always been a people person who grew up in a very diverse city (Seattle) where I went to school with kids of 20 or 30 different ethnicities. I learned very quickly that it didn't matter where they were from or what they looked like. I honestly feel bad for all the people who refuse to understand this and stay stuck in their ways of ignorance. It must be a terrible way to live. Anyhow sending you lots of love from Seattle!
