As the Puerto Ricans say that QUE BRUTAL MI HERMANO!!! ... (is like a spectacular), jajaja. I congratulate you from Puerto Rico. I love your presentation. They have fans in the island's charm. Towards adelate and much success.
This show is kinda demented. But beautiful in it's sentiment. I love that. They praise God but then hate each other. So deep and just above and beyond what you'd expect from a marching band show. And if you look at the videos from earlier that year of this show. The words were not on the signs. I don't know if that was intentional to avoid complications at school performances or what but I think that this is a beautiful show. I'm still jazzed about the entire thing and I've watched this A LOT.
Until this show, Center Grove's 1999 performance of New Era Dance was my favorite marching performance. All I can say is WOW! Good job Directors, Design Staff, Color Guard Staff, Parents, and ESPECIALLY the STUDENTS! BRAVO!
@laughingstock133 The reason the words were not on the signs in previous shows was the flags weren't made yet. All of the guards flags and the banners were made by the parents throughout the year. There was a lot of sewing that had to be done that year and it was impossible to have them completed for some of the earlier shows.
You are correct, Sir or Ma'am. As a music educator, it's important to provide a well-rounded education of both sacred and secular music to students because each is important in educational and historical terms to the growth of any musician. It's like learning about World Religions in Cultures class or History class. It's like learning about sacred art in Art History. you can;t ignore it's importance to the whole of the art. Period!
Avon always starts with the Doxology. It's been the hornline's song that they play before every show since the 90's. Avon also had a cross in their show last lear. Also, their theme this year was "MassIVe," in which their show was...Massive, and presented masses (hence the implying IV...a church mode), along with massive ideas- like religion, war, and a "mass exodus" at the end.
what I am really impressed by is the number of girls in the guard who are so good with the rifles. You often see bands with 12 -16 good rifles, but 40 that's really impressive!
Yeah, it is. We're a Christian school, too. We were SO close to making it to Semi-finals at BOA last year. Remember when they took the top 33? We were 34th. I was especially surprised when Norwell didn't make it through. Their show was really good last year!
What did the flags at 7:20 say? Not the OMG flags (which I loved) but the ones that the guard was running with? I am in love with this show! Haha. How big is Avon? I'm from an eensy weensy 1A 40 member band in California...haha. I'd love to see an official video too! This video doesn't do it justice in my opinion ;)
Sure thing! ^^ And I'm glad you liked our show! I just can't believe that the season's over already! It felt too short. Then again, we did BOA last year. Did you do BOA at all?
Wow....Congrats on winning State! It's too bad that we didn't get a chance to see your show this year. I'm sure it's on Indiana Marching, though. Were you able to see ours? If so, what did you think if it?
Unfortunately? Oh please Avon Is A force unrivaled by any band out there, it may seem like some people get close, like L.D. Bell or Marcus, but in reallity Avon Is on it's own level
Well It's called Mass-IV-e It's about religion sometimes but mainly it's about the massive factor of things people created like Religion and such, the four parts are Divide as such: 1 - Critical Mass 2 - Weapons of Mass destruction 3 - Mass Media 4 - Mass exodus
You obviously have no idea what this piece of music is about. It is all about defying the church. Avon has a great band program. They are my favorite class A band, and yes this is a public school. Keep doing your thing avon.
I think it has to do with God's wrath....? I really don't know, but I'm curious about something here.....is Avon a Christian school? They're show started and ended like our show from last year. I'm in Concordia's band, by the way. Avon started with the Doxology and ended in a cross, like us. Great job with winning BOA, also. Avon's band is AMAZING!!!! ^^ I LOVE your shows!
No, I said "get the pistols". If you look at the girls coming onto the field they have their hands in the shape of a pistol aiming it around. My daughter wanted us to get it on vedio.
Maybe it's the ivory color of the uniforms, or maybe it's the insane visual and musical perfection, but this band actually reminds me of Star of Indiana circa 1993 (which I still think is the standard modern marching arts are held up to.)
contra pinwheels at 1:50-56 are BEASTLY Holy crap @ the contra at 1:52 on the left file in the very back... I'm suprised the dude held his balence.. AND made the spot/recovered. If you pause at the right spot, it really looks like he/she's gonna fall. O_o good job
Funny that a catholic school that came in 4th had a show about science and its theorys, it really doesnt matter what the shows about. Its like when bands do Jesus Christ Superstar shows. This past year my bands show was about a love triangle and the end of the show the main characters made out on the field and no one got mad about that, infact some people claimed its what pushed our effect up enough for us to win state! (though I disagree) But really its about God, not forcing to believe in him
Because every competition is based on the subjectivity of judges? Tell you what, come back and complain again when you have created a machine that will objectively judge every band by musical quality, visual performance, and general effect.
That's how you end a show, drumline only on the field lol. Sorry, i've just never seen a show with drumline in the middle by themselves at the end of a show. I thought it was neat. But overall it was a great performance. I'd like to see the professional recording of this though.
okay im a firm Christian. and you said that you were too. witchcraft is obviously real and im surprised you believe otherwise! and if you dont like avons show then just stop leaving comments on here. I see nothing wrong with our show from that standpoint.
Somebody please show me where in the constitution it says you can't have a marching band program that has a somewhat religious theme to it. Everyone seems to forget we have a freedom of religion not a freedom from religion. Would anybody be having this discussion if this was about witches and demons?
Christian-esque? Meaning because they have a cross it's a Christian show? Well for one Requiem wasn't about Christianity, it was about death. And this year the song called God Said was chosen because it added different flavor to the show with 4 completely different themed songs.
don't use the "God doesn't exist" card just because your band of choice didn't win. Avon didn't try to persuade anyone about religion, the name of the song was called 'God Said'
fyi, our nationals performance was better than this, and if u are going to go off on how God doesnt exist, and how its innopropriate to use him in our show, then take it somewhere else.
I'm very proud to be a part of the Avon Marching Black and Gold.
(:
thank you all.

The clarinets sound beautiful at the beginning of "Ave Maria." Very pretty.
And I love the "God Said" movement; it reminds me of "Officer Krupke!"
I wish we did, too. It was neat to see all the bands from the different states.
i remember having an asthma attac when they were playing this in sound chek lol i miss those times
The 2nd mvmt. might just be my favorite ballad ever. I really like how they added the singer in there, and the guard is awesome.
They got new uniforms in 2009. The previous uniforms had been around for quite some time.
Thanks. ^^
Awesome! Good luck at State! We got 6th at our State competition this year. It's the best Concordia's ever done, too. ^^
Go Cadets!
Until this show, Center Grove's 1999 performance of New Era Dance was my favorite marching performance. All I can say is WOW! Good job Directors, Design Staff, Color Guard Staff, Parents, and ESPECIALLY the STUDENTS! BRAVO!

nice im from ben davis just saying how great i think you guys are congrats
The show is called MassIVe.
Oh my freaking gosh! That is sick and I envy your show! I'm from the Highland High drumline and I wish we had a band like yours here in AZ!

best show ive ever seen
well it looks like they also have some visuals from the cavaliers shows from the past years. very nice, great job sound.
Hey i'm from lake central. i thought ur guys' show was awesome this year. you definitely deserved ur place at BOA. i loved it.
Avon is a public School. The town of Avon is a suburb just west of Indianapolis.
Best show ever
Avon always starts with the Doxology. It's been the hornline's song that they play before every show since the 90's.
Avon also had a cross in their show last lear.

Our show this year was called "The Joy Within".
The song was written before that. The composer is the same guy who wrote "Fanfare for the Common Man" which I find cool.
Didn't these guys get second in state finals, but first at BOA Grand Nationals?
there are alot of inmature ppl commenting on this vid......avon you guys are amazing and you keep winning grand nats because you all deserve it
What did the flags at 7:20 say? Not the OMG flags (which I loved) but the ones that the guard was running with?
I am in love with this show! Haha. How big is Avon? I'm from an eensy weensy 1A 40 member band in California...haha.
I'd love to see an official video too! This video doesn't do it justice in my opinion ;)
ahhhhh...good times
What part of "thou shall not" ...did you not understand? God
@TakerFan55 not at all... Exodus is a departure involving a big group.. hence the term "Mass Exodus" and the Avon kids running off the field..
Sure thing! ^^ And I'm glad you liked our show!
I just can't believe that the season's over already! It felt too short. Then again, we did BOA last year. Did you do BOA at all?
this band rocks!
Wow....Congrats on winning State! It's too bad that we didn't get a chance to see your show this year. I'm sure it's on Indiana Marching, though.
Were you able to see ours? If so, what did you think if it?
The ending is awesome! One of my favorite endings in a band show. I also love the chord right around 8:31.
so is this like the official video? when is the professional one coming??? or the national one...
what is the name of this show? i from hebron high school in carrollton tx and i just want to say mganicifent job!!!
The title of our show is MassIVe.
This video is at ISSMA State Finals, just to be clear. LISTEN TO BENT4FAM! She put the video on here, after all.
Unfortunately? Oh please Avon Is A force unrivaled by any band out there, it may seem like some people get close, like L.D. Bell or Marcus, but in reallity Avon Is on it's own level
Avon's guard is amazing!
I love this show! I didn't get to see it at finals, but from what I saw at state, it was definitely amazing. What did the flags at 7:20 say?
Okay. It was strange how Avon started with the Doxology for on-field warm up and ended their show in a cross last year, just like us!
WHATS THE NAME OF THE CLOSER!!!
its so AWESOME!
wait what? the I in ISSMA stands for INDAIAN not for illinois and second avon never went to illinois so im not sure what you're talking about
What did the flags say at 7:23?
How many uniforms has this band had in the past decade?
Copland symphony for organ and orchestra: finale: lento - allegro moderato
Well It's called Mass-IV-e It's about religion sometimes but mainly it's about the massive factor of things people created like Religion and such, the four parts are Divide as such:
1 - Critical Mass

@HecNetEstraCru I'm glad someone else notices that the drumline is still there. Haha.
Hahahaha! So witty!
I seriously love that song XD Go Avon Band! :D :D :D
You obviously have no idea what this piece of music is about. It is all about defying the church. Avon has a great band program. They are my favorite class A band, and yes this is a public school. Keep doing your thing avon.
BOA can't afford to have an official video on RUclips, sadly.
I think it has to do with God's wrath....? I really don't know, but I'm curious about something here.....is Avon a Christian school? They're show started and ended like our show from last year. I'm in Concordia's band, by the way. Avon started with the Doxology and ended in a cross, like us.

What band?
What do they 2 big flags say at 7:22?
Maybe it's the ivory color of the uniforms, or maybe it's the insane visual and musical perfection, but this band actually reminds me of Star of Indiana circa 1993 (which I still think is the standard modern marching arts are held up to.)
contra pinwheels at 1:50-56 are BEASTLY

good job
by who?
we change so quick because we have our costumes layers and we just slip them off inbetween songs
OMG
And.....your school is...?
i go to avon
Funny that a catholic school that came in 4th had a show about science and its theorys, it really doesnt matter what the shows about. Its like when bands do Jesus Christ Superstar shows. "Don't make me come down there!" xD
Sorry, my daughter is in the guard. I kind of had to.
This is the state finals. I think I would know. The I in ISSMA can also stand for Indiana. Those aren't BOA symbols. It is NFL and AFC logos.
Because every competition is based on the subjectivity of judges? Tell you what, come back and complain again when you have created a machine that will objectively judge every band by musical quality, visual performance, and general effect.

Sorry, i've just never seen a show with drumline in the middle by themselves at the end of a show. I thought it was neat.
But overall it was a great performance.
I'd like to see the professional recording of this though.
We had random people running off the field for dramatic effect in the last movement
okay im a firm Christian. and you said that you were too. witchcraft is obviously real and im surprised you believe otherwise! and if you dont like avons show then just stop leaving comments on here. I see nothing wrong with our show from that standpoint.
no, it's get the pistol. We wanted to make sure we filmed Amy doing the stupid pistol move over on the sidelines.
that would be sick if Avon created an Open Class corps funded by the school. Kinda like Gold was.
Somebody please show me where in the constitution it says you can't have a marching band program that has a somewhat religious theme to it. Everyone seems to forget we have a freedom of religion not a freedom from religion. Would anybody be having this discussion if this was about witches and demons?
the flags say omg
How is witchcraft obviously real?....and I LOVED the show btw!!!!! Just curious about what's so obvious about witchcraft existing.
Is Ave Maria creepy/dark?
When she said "get the pistols," I think she meant "get the rifle"
Very much ode to Phantom Regiment
Ah, I see now, barely. My apologies, bent4fam.
this isn't the official video. Just a proud dad with a camera.
what is creepy or dark about his show???!, it's great music performed well
she said get the sister btw
how on earth is the third song dark and creepy?
Christian-esque? Meaning because they have a cross it's a Christian show? Well for one Requiem wasn't about Christianity, it was about death. And this year the song called God Said was chosen because it added different flavor to the show with 4 completely different themed songs.
i'm gonna be honest. i don't really understand what this show is about.
Hmm.....That's interesting. Two years in a row they had Christian-esque shows.....hmm.....
They lost State by 1 tenth of a point. They made a few changes and did a better job at BOA.
lol 6:51
don't use the "God doesn't exist" card just because your band of choice didn't win. Avon didn't try to persuade anyone about religion, the name of the song was called 'God Said'
fyi, our nationals performance was better than this, and if u are going to go off on how God doesnt exist, and how its innopropriate to use him in our show, then take it somewhere else.
How is this the highest scoring high school band show ever? The design sucks.
