@umamwosa it is debatable but when I watch our games either akanji dias and walker are the three centre backs and lately it has been gvardiol dias and akanji and Rico while Rico always drops at cdm
A lot of competition for only 4 spots (2 wingbacks and 2 no10's). Bruno, Rashford, Amad, Garnacho, Zirkzee (arguably), Mount, Antony, Dalot, Mazraoui, Amass, Shaw and Malacia (if/when back fit). Will be interesting to see who Amorim favours, or more who he's willing to drop.
3atb is a misnomer. Most manager have a 3atb structure in possession. The correct description would be 3CBs. Also, Amorim defends in a 5-2-3 when in a low block and a 3-4-3 when pressing. James should have made that distinction. James also fails to mention that one of the CBs usually step up into midfield to form a double pivot with the DM while the other CM moves up the field into a 10 position. I don't think James was very concise with his video and their are better videos that explain how Amorim would work at United.
If you look at man United's average position against West Ham it lines up like a 3-1-6 (the same as ten hag's first game in charge) they try 3 at the back all the time but its the tactics is what sets them a part, people are saying its going to be a lot different but its not
Yeah that point of the CCB pushing into the holding midfield role in attack really has me questioning De Ligt's long term potential at keeping that spot. Too slow to cover large spaces in behind and out wide, and not technically sufficient to comfortably take charge of what would be a midfield role in attacking phases. Great player but doesn't fit this way of playing imo.
@@Thatdoginme_m3 yeah was thinking Lisandro in the middle myself. Then maybe like a Branthwaite on the left of that 3, long term. Maybe even Kukonki from the academy since he plays either a left back or centre back role already, not to mention he's 6'4 and quick which is in that Branthwaite mould anyway.
Ahmad is a great player in the right half space, so good and technical with linking up with the winger, as he did with Roberts at Sunderland (although the level was below his ability so it could just be because of how good he was)
I actually watched sporting's game against nacional last night and one thing i can tell you is that the players he has there are very intelligent, mobile and creative..i can't say the same with the players we have, they try their best sometimes but they can't give what they don't have

United best 11 is absolutely shocking considering we started “rebuilding” years ago and a few hundred million later we’re still left with a bunch of lower league table players. This is not a big club atm.
I feel like the obvious answer atleast for the first few games is to have Rashford in that left half space and have Bruno in the right half space. Like James mentioned, Amorim has used a winger profile like Marcus Edwards in the half space role before and I think Rashford could be good at that, driving at the defence in that half space where some room may be created by the left sided wingback holding width, and would be a goal threat with that right foot of his.
@danielca3 it doesn't matter, his ball control is typically pretty good and he'd be able to dribble through that narrow space, and if he gets closed down by multiple defenders he can lay it off to the wingback or hojlund
Icl as much as we all clown on Anthony, I really want him to have a place in this team and thrive because I have a soft spot for brazilians that for whatever reason dont play or do well at their clubs like Vitor Roque, Richarlison and even Raphinha at a certain point.
Ten Hag's obsession with Rashford is the MAIN reason he got himself sacked. This player has contributed to the sacking of 4 managers until now, that too with a periodic form of performing great once a new manager arrives and then massively putting disastrous performances the following seasons and proceeding to get the manager sacked who have backed him to death. If Ruben Amorim is THAT guy and wants to succeed at United he must have balls of steel and kick out Rashford , Luke Shaw and Lindelof from the club.
Porto fan here, Amorim transformed sporting who were on a decline with many issues with the fans who didnt like the then new president and the whole attack on alcochete academy (go look it up fans invaded the academy and started destroying things and attacking the players, leading many to resign and go for free, rafael leao and rui patricio for example), they didnt have much money, hadnt won a title in 20 years and were looking to fade from the top 3 in Portugal. Varandas first move was to splash the cash on Amorim, making him the most expansive manager ever at that time, and amorim with the little that he had made sporting start to play good football, introduced young players and his carisma and relation to the players brang a whole new mood to the club, things were on rise and sporting looked better than ever this season. Im happy you guys took him, hopefully someone takes gyokeres as well. I dont know if all that will transpire to the biggest league and if the tactics will work, but you got a manager that is one of the best ive seen in portugal, if things dont go bad early i can see him take you guys out of the misery you are in for the last decade. It may not bring titles early, but as a fan you will start to enjoy watching your club, in portugal everyone even watched his press conferences because he is a master in communication. Expecting big things from him, he already once brang a club out of the mud
I'm for the 3 at the back. What I've seen Sporting do look exciting and how Amorim can take what he has already done and translate that to United and the prem should be interesting and hopefully fun to watch. Let's see who in the squad can hack it and who can't. I think the prospect of a young coach and the young team INEOS want to build is also exciting, and something to look forward to even though I think most of us are very jaded right now.
Good vid mate. But ultimately a manager can only do so much with the current man u squad. Fully expect a 2/3 year cycle then his gone and most fans saying his washed. The way to fix the problem is to fix the playing squad not necessarily the manager.
His formation will help us break down teams that sit back (something we've struggled with the last couple seasons)and also help us score alot of goals but the question is do we have the kind of players to play his kind of football?? I don't think so
I think Martinez as the Center CB would be interesting. Yoro ofc the longterm option at RCB. And then look for more mobile LCB in the transfer market for example Inacio or Hicampie.
@@Deathmare235 I think he will have to fight Martinez for the CCB role because he is not a long-term option outwide. Just my opinion. I love De Ligt I thought he was gonna be better then what he is under Ten Hag.

respectfully you guys would be lucky to challenge for top 4. you guys should be focusing on just playing good football and having an identity. thats the one thing ten hag severely failed at after 2+ years, identity-less football. and on comparing squads, you guys need an overhaul. you do not have a squad that competes with villa, newcastle, chelsea and even spurs.
