I was dancing at the Tyne Tees Studios, Newcastle with my friends, on this VT. The set by the Glitter Band was an extremely long one. Great night and atmosphere.
I remember going to an all-nighter that I think was at Kings Cross must be nearly fifty years ago. These guys came out and played a set that took the roof off. The two drummers came on and started laying down a driving jungle beat that just seemed to go on for ever.....they played for nearly an hour and were amazing. Thanks for posting. Great memories from an ardent Hawkwind and Pink Fairies fan...
One of the drummers, Pete Gill, went onto be Saxon's drummer for the first few years before he moved onto drumming for Motorhead for 3 years. Still lives in Sheffield.
FANTASTIC BAND..................FANTASTIC MUSIC.....WHAT THE FUCK IS GOIN ON NOW ,,,,WITH THE MUSIC.............its so depressing...................HELP.... ?
Live recording, no playback: brilliant! Both singers, Shephard and Springate, sing really well and perfectly in tune. While John Springate's bass tone sounds eerily like Jean-Jacques Burnel's just 3 years later.
Thought I might comment on this after 5 years, but it's funny how Harvey uses the same sax solo on "Gimme Some Lovin' - Angel Face" as he used a year before on GGs "Remember Me This Way" album on the track "Baby,Please Don't Go" - you could tell by the looks on the boys faces they got away with that one
@@vjmusic. you know me too well mate, even 5 years later I might pick up on something, but in reality,I was gonna comment about that 5 years back, but got on the piss and forgot about it,until I watched it again today - ooooohhh errrrr.
What a pity that Gerry Shephard's guitar sound on "Goodbye my love" is so thin compared to the studio recording where it is much richer. But this live performance of the Glitter Band is pure magic to me. Apart from everything else here, I do like Harvey Ellison playing his saxophone. And the two drommers thumping it out like hell!
Always a good live band. seen them a few times. Shame about the association with Mr Gadd. Can't have done their careers any good, even though it was nothing to do with them.
+*GARY GLITTER`S ROCK 'N' ROLL JUKEBOX* You think on. Gadd didn't make the band. The Boston Showband who became The Glitter Band existed well before Gadd changed his name to Gary Glitter & Mike Leander hired them as the backing band. So much amazing talent in the band it was only a matter of time before they beacame a top band in their own right whatever they happened to be named as.
Compere in pink outfit and top hat was John Shuttleworth Three years later as Jilted John, he came out with the punk classic....''Jilted John - Gordon is a Moron!'' It got to no. 4 in 1978.
Great their own stuff but covers of other records just doesn't work.Tremendous fun band. What ever happened there's no music or singing anymore. Nowadays all doom and gloom .
Anyone else watching this in 2024? So fantastically brilliant.
Imagine these guys turning up on a Simon Cowell talent show!
Yeah - it's definitely the drumming and hand clapping that does it! These blokes were real men.
How brilliant to hear them completely live and sounding amazing..superb musicians.
Wow I was a kid at the time and only ever saw them on TOTP - they were fantastic here live!!!! Who knew they had such talent? Those voices …..
Gerry Shepherd , great leader of the Glitter Band ! 🍀👑🍀💚
Memories galore here 🙂🤗👏👍💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💕💕💕
Fantastic snapshot of what The Glitter Band sounded like at their peak!
Love the drums and bass, so raucous!
Heck yeah!!
Brilliant live,no band like them❤❤❤❤
The rumbling bass adds so much body to the glitter sound. I love it.
Yeah, and with 2 drum kits, and clapping in time to the beat.
Brilliant band, so incredibly talented!
I really miss the glitter band days.
I saw GG and the Glitter Band in the 1970s in Belfast, they were absolutely amazing!

Happy Memories 😃
Did you see yourself on the film here? That would be quite amazing, a bit spooky even.
Brilliant so many memories.❤❤
Blimey, those drums! And what a performance by all. Great.

Great band, sound fantastic.
WOT A FUCKING GREAT BAND
So much energy and passion about this show, quite brilliant!
Saw them live in 1975- great band - very underrated
They were a great band, different sound. I just love the drummers. Great stuff and iam 66 now and I have best sound system in my hilux..
Great band, that killer bass is amazing
Remember watching this in '75
Fantastic live sound
These guys were seriously good
Need these on dvd. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The double drums and coordination of them made them brilliant and the rhythm was in sinc
Quite a few bands had two drummers in the 1970’s.
What a great live band. Only saw them in the 80s and 90s when Gerry was still with them and they were good then too.
Awesome 😊
Anyone who wonders how a Fender precision Bass should sound needs to hear this :)
Absolutely fantastic love this band and song my favourite 😅
The greatest music in the world
Agreed,,,,,,, :)
Superb music one of my favourite bands.
Remember seeing them back in the day At Barnstable town hall in north devon , they were brilliant . Amazing live , good times
Further proof how damn good a songwriter John Rossall was. His post Glitter Band 45's were ace.
No one will ever touch the Glitter Band, they were a one off band, "Thank's for your fantastic music Boy's."

HAPPY GLITTERING YEARS ! Hey !
Great era the 70s, some great songs that stand the test of time today and for the future.
John's Bass.
Superb!
These guy’s didn’t need Gary glitter.
Yes, totally agree they make their own Thing!!
But today they have difficulties getting jobs because of the Glitter name. Promoters think of Gary and paedofili and draw the wrong conclusions.
They were better without him.
Nedocenená hudobná skupina, veľmi kvalitná hudba, ktorá ma sprevádza celým mojím životom, super video
The drummer is hitting them hard with intent. nice
One of the drummers, Pete Gill, went onto be Saxon's drummer for the first few years before he moved onto drumming for Motorhead for 3 years.

@@pootle5096 nice info thanks
Pete Gill isn't one of the drummers. They are Pete Phipps and Tony Leonard.
@@heathertaylor5899is the info about Pete Gill correct though and did he play with the glitter band ?
@@drew2324 he definitely played with the Glitterband but left and Tony Leonard took over. Whether he played for Saxon and Motorhead, I don't know.
Wow, huge thanks for this.
My pleasure 😶😀😃
Excellent

Why is this not on DVD in the uk?
Saw 'em at Rebellion in Blackpool, they were fantastic.
Oh ich liebe es ❤
Love Harvey on the sax, he was brilliant.
Aaah, Harvey Ellison, what a great guy, sadly missed

Magic ❤
Fantastic band
@ 11-24...she's a great dancer, has she ever seen this film,...must be a strange gobsmacking feeling if she did, lol!

Its live that's as rare as rocking horse 💩
Great band but would they have been anything without Gary? It is his and Mike Leander's beat they use
Was the ''Rock On'' segment added on, I don't remember it before?
Always a good live band.

Glam rock..2 saxophone players 2 drummer's. Your right they didn't need GG..nonce..

Another 70s band cancelled by the radio.they were not compllicet with gg but payed the price.radios 1 and two shoould be ashamed. 7:19
There’s some mighty bad haircuts on display. Looks like one of the drummers is auditioning for a part of a Romulan in Star Trek TNG.
Ian Gascoigne - You gotta love the 70s, bad haircuts, great music and all 😉
Much better without gary
