Good video, but I would say that in regards to the club fitting aspect, you would want to be fit on something like GC Quad or Trackman, BUT the one thing you didn’t mention about the Rapsodo was you can see your swing AND you can turn on impact vision and get a slow motion replay of your club going into the ball at impact. This feature is so much better than some of the other units for path because you can literally see it and you can also see a true representation of your lie angle along with club defection at impact. Thanks for the content, keep it up.
Great video! But in your side-by-side comparison to the Mevo+, I’d trust the MLM2 spin results more than the Mevo+ (which uses the RCT balls for best spin). A more fair comparison would be to a premium camera unit like the GC3 or even BLP.
Own one myself - love it, but only used it twice as the last couple months have been playing as much actual golf as possible before the winter hits, but planning to get a lot out of it over the winter in the nets at my club - especially to dial in wedge numbers with full, 3/4, 1/2 swings. Great to see someone I respect a lot speak highly of it too.
I'm a fan but yeah, make the most of the real golf whilst you can! I want to spend more time using its combine features as well. Thanks for the kind words!!
Hi Jon, I actually purchased this unit after watching your video. I also just noticed after watching this again you switched to an inside screen when doing the accuracy numbers. I know myself and a lot of others are getting distance issues when using a net. Are you able to do an accuracy test with your net instead of the screen?
Hi Scott, I'll try and get hold of a good unit to compare against in my home setting. I switched to inside primarily to access the other unit. Leave it with me and I'll do my best.
I bought one. My application was a golf matt and a net on my back patio. The distances were way off, specifically longer irons into woods and driver. I even had the self leveling device as well. It did seem to work better at the range. I would not recommend for a net scenario. I already sold mine. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend. I also saw limited difference in the sensor golf balls and regular golf balls.
I bought the MLM2PRO but not renewing the membership, it’s a bit steep, and with new products emerging I hope the competition will bring subscription fee down
Software as a service is fine - if it costs another company money to keep providing the infrastructure and services behind the scenes. This sounds more like feature licensing and at 200$ year on year costs ??? So if you can find a shop doing a more expensive unit on a payment plan that doesn’t require ongoing costs - it’s probably a much better choice ?
Nice review. I didn’t go for this one but it does hit a good price point. I went with a GC3. Anyone looking into the MLM2 Pro should maybe compare to the Bushnell Launch Pro (BLP) before making the jump. The BLP is the subscription version of the GC3. It’s pricier than the MLM2 Pro still though. Why do I like the GC3? Compact single unit that accurately measures everything including putting, so you get the full practice and sim experience. What don’t I like? You need a gaming laptop for the software, although they have some iPad apps that are useful. The sim courses are great, especially the new FSX Play courses.
Oh, and a few more plusses.... you don't need special balls so you can use your gamer balls and it reads everything accurately. And you don't need much space at all... I hit from a 5'x5' mat into a net return pro and the bottom of the net return's net extends on the ground to within a few inches of the mat. It's about 9-10' from back of the mat to the back of the net return pro. And finally it's easy to setup, you set the GC3 down, put the alignment stick on the ground toward your target, wait 2 seconds until the unit shows you it's aligned, and pick it up. Then you're ready to hit. I had a Garmin R10 before this and it took much longer to align and get right and much more space was required behind the hitting area. I now have a web cam (swing camera) where my R10 used to sit.
@@KayakFishingAddict I like your thoughts but feel, the 2 you are talking about aren't in the same league, at all. A 700 unit versus 2k-6K isn't even fair, I would expect them to do more and be better... IMO.. The point is features, portable and price... if I wanted a true launch system, this isn't meant for that. I am trying to replace the Mevo (not Mevo +) I have so this unit is in the same class...
But all in all its a great unit for amateur, it helps you with basic data which is much needed with the net setup in backyard. And year or two-imagine how much better will those little things become. That things are on start of its journey and with some competition and buyers those will become very very accurate 100% and lower the price of big men (trackman) at some point
Enjoyed your review Jon. I purchased one, started using yesterday. My issue is all distance readings are way short. For example: Rapsodo shows my 7 iron carries 120-125m at best. On course (and verified with Trackman) my ave carry is 148m. Rapsodo shows my driver's total distance is 178m on average. On course my ave driver distance is 240m. So distances are way out. I've updated the firmware to latest and are using the latest app. I have set up in an indoor garage, hitting into a net, and have the unit sitting at the same height as the hitting mat, 7.5 feet directly behind the ball aimed down the target line, and I have around 10ft of ball flight to net. I have tried using the supplied Callaway balls, and also changed the altitude settings - but these tweaks make only very small differences to my readings. Any ideas to help improve accuracy?? As pretty useless with current readings - may as well return it.
Thanks! It's from a company called The Net Return Australia, though depending what country you're in, possibly just The Net Return. There's a video on my channel about it if that helps. Cheers
Im looking into buying either this or the garmin r10, has anybody else been in this situation and which did u go for and any regrets? Will be In the garage so not bothered about taking it on course etc and my local range has trackman installed so isn't required there either. I think accurate shot shaping would be beneficial for me to practice also however I've only been playing a few months so isn't that important yet
@@JonPerkinsGolf Looking into it the last 24hours i think i agree with you. I feel the spin axis will be a huge thing and the garmin r10 not being able to accurately read it will bother me i think. No problem and good luck with whatever you go with@@Kyle-rf5mb I agree about the fact that companies like Rapsodo can and seemingly will keep releasing small improvements at least gives you extra confidence.
Wasn’t quite sure from the video but does the shot tracer feature work indoors? When comparing the two metrics I didn’t see it on the screen. Thanks for the help.
I'm thinking about a setup in my garden just like you have here. But with a retractable canopy - I'm in Scotland, I'll need it! Does the unit and tablet need a WiFi connection? My signal is pretty poor in my back garden.... Also, have you astro turfed that area? I'm on grass at the moment, but I'm thinking it'll just end up a complete mess...
Hey, yeah it would be a solid option as long as you get a subscription to something like E6. It would save you a few thousand on the next options which might be SkyTrak or Flightscope.
Hey Jon, how did you find the mlm 2 pro at the range? I used to have the R10 but found it barely usable when trying to play courses at the range. The ball flights were all over the place. Did using range balls have an impact on the reliability of the numbers in your opinion? Cheers!
Hey, so far it's been really solid at the range. I plan to test it more, but I've been impressed so far. You can tell it you're using range balls and I wonder if it gives slightly generous numbers on them, but that's my only real thing so far and I will test it more. Great job with your channel by the way - love watching courses from back in the UK, makes me miss it (except for the weather..).
@@JonPerkinsGolf Thanks Jon! I'm going to pick one up I think. Aha thanks! I'm certainly not enjoying the weather over here at the moment ☔😭 Keep up the good videos dude! 🏌♂

I did take it onto the course, but honestly I wouldn't do that unless I had to.
Both are very solid, entry level options. It's a close call but I think I would see enough in the Rapsodo and it's performance to lean towards it. I do think you'll want the membership though, so after 1 year you'd need to factor it in.
I'm still undecided between the Rapsodo and the Garmin. The Garmin is $200 cheaper as of 11/25/23, but Garmin does not have the camera and that seem important to me. I don't like paying $200 a year. I would like to set up an indoor simulator at some point but I don't care about having hundreds of golf courses to play.
All quite valid points. Maybe others on here can add their opinions. With you idea to use as an indoor simulator and not wanting to play lots of courses, do you have in mind how you do want to use it/what you hope to get from it? Maybe that will help pick what's right for you. If price is a big determining factor maybe it's the Garmin?
I just returned my garmin after two months of use. The distance numbers and height seem accurate but the spin and spin axis are just really off. I’ve seen balls in real life draw and on the garmin the spin axis reads as a fade. If you want to buy purely to use just for distance numbers outdoors the r10 is usable. Look elsewhere otherwise
If you’ve got half an understanding or reason to buy these launch monitors. Club path and face to path must be 50% or a few of the most important data points required? And maybe I’m mistaken but it doesn’t give this? Where the Garmin R10 does without membership? Possibly I’m wrong.
This is not accurate. The Garmin Golf membership, whether monthly or annually, allows you to access Greens Contours to see slope, break, etc on a watch, rangefinder or handheld while playing a round. The premium version allows you to play Home Town Hero courses and save video clips of your range session. There is no impact to being able to use the launch monitor, data or save your rounds and club data.
At the entry level I feel like Rapsodo edges Garmin. I think the Mevo is good at the next level and I just used a Full Swing and was impressed by that. Honestly, they're all pretty solid, you just get small accuracy gains, better interfaces, less missed shots as you spend more. (In my opinion)

If I usually hit a slice will this device show you that slice? I’ve always wondered if this is something that is picked up by these devices. I only see good shots when videos are posted.
It seems to pretty accurately match the shots with what I see. I've hit good, bad and very ugly shots on it and it seems to show the same things. I'm continuing to use and test though...

Silly question here, but what if your golf club is not listed from the list I tried to look online to see what clubs are offered but nothing is available. Is the list very robust?
Do you mean a brand of club or something like the number or type of club? It's pretty comprehensive as far as I've seen, plus it lets you tailor how they're listed? Not sure if that helps or not.
@@JonPerkinsGolf In your demonstration it had several driver brand names listed, so I didn't know if you get to enter a generic driver that may not be listed. I wonder if that would affect stats?
No, you can use it without, but it's a more cut back package. You would lose some of the best bits if you didn't subscribe. That's the good and the bad with this one. I think you'd come to want the stuff in the subscription...
Hey, sure. It's a Net Return. I got mine from the Net Return Australia who sell in Aus and NZ. I think there are other distributers in other countries. It's perfect though.
So what is the option you would recommend for club path? I am not a coach but I think club path is something I need to track to get the most out of a launch monitor. Thanks!
I guess it depends if you're working to a budget and if you see yourself using inside and outside? Assuming price plays a part and you might use in a variety of settings, potentially the Mevo+ is a great pick.
@@JonPerkinsGolf thanks. Also one more question. So let’s say i don’t care about he subscription. What would you choose between the rapsodo or Garmin r10? Like in terms of accuracy. I have an outdoor net.
This unit needs to be taken to the range and not have to use those 3 marked up balls, and still get all the data and not have to pay for a subscription.
First year is free. But then its $199/year in year 2 and later. Who knows, they might drop that price in the future, like other more expensive units have done.
This is NOT the best training aid for golf. It is very good but it does not have Angle of Attack. Rapsodo inform me its coming end of 2024! How can 'RUclips experts' make videos on Angle of Attack being important and then sing the praises of a device that doesn't do it?
I was excited when i saw the reviews only to be disappointed to find out a lot is tied up with the subscription. That’s a deal breaker for me too. Off the shopping list. R10 may be the answer for now.
@@kswan2234 R10 seems to provide enough useful data even without the subscription. MLM2PRO on the other hand provides just the bare minimum if not paying the annual $200 subscription. Not a bank breaking amount, but i do not like the feeling of being forced to pay for something.
I’d rather have the MLM2PRO with its subscription, than the garmin R10 which is a nightmare to set up properly, and the crazy flight paths it says you’ve done, ie it says you’re hitting a slice when you can see the ball flight is a draw.

@@JonPerkinsGolf In your demonstration it had several driver brand names listed, so I didn't know if you get to enter a generic driver that may not be listed. I wonder if that would affect stats?
If using on ipad does the pad need to be cellular enabled?
There are a couple of ways to do it but you can basically run off your home internet or hotspot via a phone if that helps?
Does it show club head speed if used without a ball ?
Not that I've seen
Is the $199 membership mandatory in order to use the device once the free trial expires?
No, you can use it without, but it's a more cut back package. You would lose some of the best bits if you didn't subscribe. That's the good and the bad with this one. I think you'd come to want the stuff in the subscription...
@@JonPerkinsGolf awesome thanks for the info.
Could you tell me where you got your outdoor net?
Hey, sure. It's a Net Return. I got mine from the Net Return Australia who sell in Aus and NZ. I think there are other distributers in other countries. It's perfect though.
Videos are looking good! Keep it up!
Appreciate that, thank you
Did you duff that last shot?
Whats the name of that net u using in the garden?
It's from the Net Return. Theres a video on my channel about it - hands down the best I've used (and I've gone through a few before this).
If it gives spin axis then you can tell what your club path is.
Am I right there there's no way to do clubhead speed measurement without a ball? i.e. you cannot use it for swing speed training?
If you can, I've not seen it. Don't really see that on much though, hence the PRGR is so popular with swing speed training.
No you can’t just do club head speed…..you would have to spend another $200 for the pgr
Thanks@@KyleS860 ! I ended up getting the PRGR instead
What camera do you use? Looks awesome!
Thanks - good to hear. I'm using a Canon M50 and trying to time it during the day for better light.
You should have compared it to one of the expensive trackers so we know it’s real accuracy
If I get the chance, I definitely will.
There are a bunch with it being super close with trackman and foresight units
Great review!
Thanks, appreciate that
Hey! Have you done any comparison between the FS & Trackman or any unit for more money, which provides very realistiv numbers ?
What type of golf net is that?
Its a Net Return. I can't remember the exact model but I did a video on my channel about it if that helps? Cheers
@@JonPerkinsGolf thanks. Also one more question. So let’s say i don’t care about he subscription. What would you choose between the rapsodo or Garmin r10? Like in terms of accuracy. I have an outdoor net.
@@ghay2239 in that situation I think I'd lean towards the Rapsodo. I don't think there's a bad option but I'd go for that myself.
Thanks!
That's very kind, thank you
Why would you compare this w spin and distance to a mevo? Is mevo known for 100% accuracy…compare it to a gcquad or a trackman lol
Didn't have access to either and figured that the Mevo is the next price bracket up, so a useful comparison towards value for money.
No memberships for me, it’s a deal breaker for me as well.
Yeah it's important to know what you're after (or not)
His first 3 sets of numbers didn’t make sense. If your ball speed is lower, and the club head speed is lower, then the carry will not be longer !
Solid? One of them is a mile out
no club path??
Hit bad shots, hit some stingers, show us non perfect shots. Like bad ones. Thats what I want to see.
This unit needs to be taken to the range and not have to use those 3 marked up balls, and still get all the data and not have to pay for a subscription.
$199.00 a year?
Sorry, is that a question you want help with? Cheers
First year is free. But then its $199/year in year 2 and later. Who knows, they might drop that price in the future, like other more expensive units have done.
Thats the membership?@@mattgavin4333

This is NOT the best training aid for golf. It is very good but it does not have Angle of Attack. Rapsodo inform me its coming end of 2024! How can 'RUclips experts' make videos on Angle of Attack being important and then sing the praises of a device that doesn't do it?
No club path
That one year subscription BS is a deal breaker for me.
I was excited when i saw the reviews only to be disappointed to find out a lot is tied up with the subscription. That’s a deal breaker for me too. Off the shopping list. R10 may be the answer for now.
Don't they all have subscriptions?
@@kswan2234 R10 seems to provide enough useful data even without the subscription. MLM2PRO on the other hand provides just the bare minimum if not paying the annual $200 subscription. Not a bank breaking amount, but i do not like the feeling of being forced to pay for something.
@@MBTK11R10 also has a subscription. I believe its $100
I’d rather have the MLM2PRO with its subscription, than the garmin R10 which is a nightmare to set up properly, and the crazy flight paths it says you’ve done, ie it says you’re hitting a slice when you can see the ball flight is a draw.
The yearly subscription is a big CON. Go Flight Scope or R10 etc, and boycott the subscription rip off merchants.
Absolutely !!
Premium membership haha. Mugs game
club path data coming in 2025.
Awesome
Subscription based product…no thanks
