I'm pretty sure that with only 10 shots from the FL-33 in its capacitor when you've got full power to weapons... even the Pulse could take it out in AC.
I was SOOO disappointed when I saw this ship. I'm half wondering if they purposely made it bad...which is weird cause they normally try to make it as appealing as possible so you'd want to buy it. I think the only good thing this ship has going for it is the interior amenities. Sure its fast, but no one has said what the range and fuel consumption is like. If this thing is like a super long range starter that makes the rambler look like a shuttle (in terms of jump range), then I might be slightly more interested. I'm pretty sure they could have put a size 4 on there instead of the size three, heck put a bespoke size 5 on there and I still think it would be fairly balanced. I also think the cargo capacity could have been safely doubled on each side. The engines also look too small for it, but the MSR and a few others have the same issue. I REALLY don't know about getting the Intrepid. I do like what is available for the interior, but I think its weird design for the interior. Like I'd rather the suit locker and armory be where the table and kitchen is, and just figure out how to swap them around. I didn't even think about the lack of ability to hold even a pulse in the ship, that's terrible. I REALLY hope they don't charge more than a Cutter for this...but they probably will cause its new.
I understand why they did it. Seems like a competitor for the aurora or cutter but we will have to see how the pricing agrees with that. Personally I would have loved a size 4 with 6 or 8 missiles. Everything about this ship I absolutely love
All it needs is a military variant, A1 or A2 style, somehow double cargo, triple the firepower and change the actual design bc it looks horrible. I don’t mind this being a starter, charge 50$. Then for the newer military variant charge 100$ even. Add guns make that thing a size 5. I was expecting a titan competitor and a new favourite starter. I’m so disappointed.
The fire extinguisher being on the outside makes sense to me. In larger ships you're probably gonna have someone in the engineering room ready to grab it and use it. In a single person ship however, the room may already be on fire before you reach it, so having it on the other side of the bulkhead, where it should be safe from the fire, makes sense so you're not running into the flames to get it.
If they had put the cockpit in the center, and added another size 3 weapon and 2 missiles on the other side, this would have been a respectable starter ship.
I really wanted to like this ship but it does not look like a Crusader ship to me, sure it has the Crusader stylings but dang, does it look ugly 😋then again I remember the Crusader Ares and its weird single gun configuration that ruined those beautiful lines of symmetry, if that was what they were going for design wise, I think they failed miserably with this one and that comes from a Crusader fan boy whose main daily driver is the Spirit. 🤫
Stick an S5 gun on it, give it another S1 shield (and maybe cooler), and a slightly-better-than-normal capacitor and it's actually not bad. People would pay it for the cool-factor of owning a "mini-Ares." Single S5 isn't even as much as an Avenger or a 325a, so it wouldn't even be OP. It just wouldn't suck. Now, it does. It loses in every category to almost everything else than the tiniest of bikes. It's out-gunned by snubs and shuttles. It's out-classed in almost everything by a space pickup truck. If this thing costs more than a Cutter, it's beyond stupid.
alpha damage will matter once armor is implemented. a tiny ship having the same size gun as a Redeemer/Corsair's largest gun would be way overpowered compared to other small ships.
I like the ship, for a starter it checks all the boxes, multi crew ships are quickly becoming more and more of a pain to fly solo so the most usable options are shrinking rather fast. The only question on how well it will do is the price. This has to be less that $70 otherwise it’s to expensive.
@@throdwobblermangrove6200 I agreed because for as big of a pain as it may be I was expecting a bunch of doors and a ramp. I don’t think the stairs fit the crusader aesthetic. Think a Mini C1.
Thanks for the review! Loved the combat piece, was keen on seeing how that would go with that ship! I was considering adding it to my fleet but, not sure anymore...
At first, I thought wtf is Drake making knockoff Crusader ships now, but it has an ejection seat that works. I think they intentionally made it bad so you could learn how to upgrade and use the engineering and fuse panel to cover all the basic amenities in a starter. The Fire extinguisher is in a room a fire would not likely start in so you would not have to go through fire to get it since the main component bay is where a fire is likely to start on that ship. Midship is a solid place for it. The weapon choice is terrible besides the sound of a high ROF cannon. There are S2 weapons with more DPS than the FL-33. If you can bolt an Attrition S3 to it, its DPS almost quadruples with a Deadbolt 3 close behind if you want a ballistic cannon with peak alpha damage. A scattergun could be an interesting choice as well having the highest DPS/alpha on paper. This ship on paper is amazing with all stealth A gear or all stealth with a Mil A shield is still half the signature of stock. All stealth gear with an Attrition or Deadbolt while firing is ~65% lower sig than stock and if you power off shields and gun ~85% lower sig than stock and can drop to 1.3k IR 3.2k EM sig. Like the Mantis it appears to be a beginner stealth ship hiding in plain sight. If it's cheap with LTI I might buy for the odd factor for a runabout and stealth shuttle.
That was my initial thought too. There are S2s with more DPS than a FL33. Any other S3 weapon doubles to quadruples its damage so maybe they made it weak on purpose.
As much as people call this ship ugly (and I think it's true) I really eant more ugly designs in the game. Everything looks too good. I want some weird looking human based ships for variety. Very few ships in Star Wars look cool. Most are ugly and weird looking. And I love that. This game needs ugly ships flying around.
I hope they swap that S3 gun with at least a S4 or S5 one, since while i believe the ship should be priced at around the same price of a Cutter or 100i, it's possible that CIG will put it on the same level of the Avenger or Syulen, simply because it's a newer and more polished ship. Also i'm kinda annoyed by it, since they managed to fit such a nice living space in such a small ship, while they made the C1 just a tube, and there isn't even the excuse of the C1 being too old, since it's only 1 year old; while i love my C1, i feel like CIG just didn't think too much while making it and just did the fastest route instead of taking the effort of adding an extra entrance or a bigger gun rack or giving it some more personality.

I would like to point out 2 things no it does not need a bigger gun or more guns it is a single-purpose ship a freighter, not a fighter. Next as to size, I expect all the old Gen 1 starters are going to get a lot bigger, and I mean a lot bigger as a result of components. Even the base Freelancer will have to get at least a 3rd wider. Mustangs, Auroras, 300 series and the Avenger series are all going to get much bigger, possibly 1/2 again as big. Ideally you can swap out the S3 with a better/more effective S3
The interior is great! Biggest problem is the gun, but I think smaller guns are going to need balanced anyways. Not everything should be able to kill a cutlass.
I love the design as a starter but you are correct the gun is a waste. I took it on low risk bounty missions and could not kill 2 ships after tons of hits and the missle load is minimal
I think we are looking at the exterior the wrong way. Instead of looking at when the ship was released, we should look at it as (the beginning of crusader). If you look at the ion and spirit lines of ships as upgrades and built off of the intrepid design. It gives crusader a progression in design language and not degradation.
Now that they upgraded the gun to S4 with an attrition4 it shines a bit at combat being agile as it is for a starter, still lacks in rockets 6-8 S1 missiles would be nice
I love this ship. The Intrepid has what I need to do the game play I prefer like courier work and other box missions. The anemic firepower doesn't impact me, as I rarely fire the guns on my ship.
I really hope that stocking a ship with food and water will be as simple as refueling your ship. I don't want to have to stock the fridge one piece at a time.
i have a question how far can it travel what's its quantum tank amount that's the thing for me at least I'm at home in my beta believe it or not i love that ship but if this has more gas tank i might have to buy it im a explorer more then a fighter and delivery jobs are how you get to see some fun places so if it has more then .5 scu quantum i will pick it up no matter the price i play solo for the most part so yea....also waiting for news on the murai guardian looking like a more maneuverable smaller vanguard
I know they said you’ll be able to upgrade ships in the future, does that include being able to upsize certain ship guns? I know it doesn’t, but it should, it really really should.
i really want to like this thing, but it needs a bit more work before it'll be worth using in any way. if the gun would be a size 4 or if it would get some missiles, the combat power would go up to beeing usable. if the exterior would be slimmed down a little, it would be a nice enough looking ship to still use it in scenarios where it's not the best choice. mainly the wings and back need to be a bit thinner and the top could use some rounding like on the C-1. with both this and the polaris, i feel like these ships got finnished in a hurry just for IAE but they could definetly use a bit more work (exterior for this thing, interior for the polaris)
Is that even a size 1 ship? I would expect it to be size 2 or 3 at least. For me the ship is an easy pass; already have ships that do everything better and I don't much like neither the outside nor the inside. I think the Avenger Titan vastly surpasses it. IMHO the Intrepid should have had 16 SCU cargo and a size 4 gun at the very least. But the question is, where should it fit? If it's two-thirds the price of the Avenger as a game package, I can see it being worth it.
There is something about this ship I really love. I think it has to do with the sluggish handling and huge footprint of other ships with this much interior room. This may just replace my cutter for lootin' and scootin'. Edit: Just want to add, that I'am hoping CIG adds a ship with a similar footprint to this but is overbuilt with a superior component and weapon suite. Basically a cutty black with far less cargo, but smaller footprint. I understand it would demand a cutty black price, but I'm fine with that.
The Intrepid has a fantastic interior amenities and it's fast for a starter and so more fun to fly than other starters with such a great interior. Also has 20% more QT fuel capacity than a Cutter. Its a great starter/cheap runabout.
I know we're not here for this but man, that dogfighting in yaw with vjoy REALLY made me cringe lol 😭😂 Love ur videos about ships! I think it's between cutter/100i/avenger titan in pricing and value. I already have those anyway, so probably won't pick one up. And the exterior is really 😬. Definitely top tier starter interior though
Apart from the habitation area I don't see any good selling points for this ship. Maybe the doors that help prevent accidental ventilation but overall it feels like a pretty weak ship. The unpolished exterior texture doesn't help my impression..
The ship pricing isn’t really gonna be something with respect to comparing it to a titan for example, it’s going to be all about that highly polished up-to-date interior just a lot nicer than any of those starter ships. they’re gonna charge a premium for that and it’s gonna be $85 bucks or higher I’m predicting
Ares is not asymmetric actually. Hull itself is perfectly symmetric (wings, fuselage, cockpit), they just added a gun to one side of it. But Intrepid is just bad. Not just its ugly shape, but also 2-storey wings and engines sticking out.
The engineering console is still handy for later on when this life-in-space sim becomes a game and you have to replace components just to get off the ground. running back and forth to the cockpit and the components hatch just to make adjustments sounds like a hassle. I'm okay with the panel.
its sad, even with upgraded components, vlrt's shoot my engine off with 2 shots and I'm uncontrollable. They need to definitely give it more health. For the rest, to tour half of the system with a very quickly manueverable ship and play some basic missions, it's good.
I said it before and I'll say it again... this ship is like a 6ft tall dude packing a 4 inch tool... some girls might say it's enough to make him feel better... but deep down they're all disapointed
Honestly I like the look of the ship, I really like a lot of things about this ship, But one thing I don't like Where are the GUNS?? one gun please! it is a good replacement for the Aurora.. But that's it.
Classifying the Avenger Titan as a starter ship was such a mistake This thing already outclasses all non-specialized starter options in every category but firepower, and people want to stick a S5 on it just to try and keep up with the Titan.
Yeah... its a neat little ship but its probably the worst overall starter ship. That little pea shooter isn't going to do much beyond maybe LRTs combat wise. You'd think they would of given it at least a size 4 or a pair of size 3s. As it stands right now this thing is just a little taxi machine. I won't be getting it even though the crusader ships are my favorites. Shame really, because I think everything else on it as a starter is fantastic I just couldn't recommend it to anyone for actual use beyond box missions lol
I don’t like this ship, I think the proportion is just bad, I like the idea but it’s just meh. And the MTerappin is also a disappointment because they change the entrance. Not interested in the Hornets nor Capital Ships so it seem I am saving my money this Expo😬
@@JL-rj9flif they sell this for the same price as the syulen I'll get the syulen just to spite this ship when it goes on sale. And I don't even need a starter class ship.
@@JL-rj9fl so do I honestly. I'm also part of the large crowd that hopes that even if they don't do much to the missiles im hoping they are smart enough to put a bigger gun on it so it can try to compete with its starter competition
@aaronjohnson4061 Yeah, the gun choice is really strange. Even though it doesn't seem to be a combat ship, I also hope they do something to make it a little more capable.
The cargo is actually fine and will.let people do the level one cargo missions. New people will also learn about off grid cargo. Off grid you could get 20 scu in this ship. That is exciting to learn when you are new. I personally really like the looks of the ship. It is IMO the best looking starter. If they would just up that 1 gun to a t4 or t5 the dps would be much more balanced.
Seriously love everything about the shit so much unique a symmetrical design to the interior and I can definitely see it competing with someone who is just about to get into the game they are unsure whether they want an Aurora or cutter or intrepid it definitely will not compete with the but it does not have to. It’s supposed to be a starter. Personally, however since it’s only one weapon, I would’ve loved to of seen a size 4 and maybe six or eight missiles. Another idea that I’ve been putting out there is that crusader should have the wrong unique line of guns so since this shit only has one gun, it should be a unique crusader gun that only goes in the ship, hell, if you made it a little higher off the ground at least enough to where you can put a pulse inside the cargo bay or whatever it needs I think you can definitely make it compete with the titan. personally that’s what I would’ve wanted however, they said it was a starter just didn’t specify what tier of starter
Crusader have the worst use of space ever. Remember that the weight of the ship will play a role in it's efficiency? The cargo section has more unused space than any other starter. That all could have been cargo instead of the pointless engineering station in a singleplayer ship. It seem they always scratch their heads after building the ship about what to do with it's volume.... With Crusader you always pay for a lot of geometry and very little function.
One of the worst ships in the game: weak weapon and shields, no real utility, and a billion unnecessary doors. Nice-ish interior, sure, but I feel sorry for new players who look at this thinking its an affordable version of the Ares and then struggle in VLRTs. CIG should be embarrassed.
if it is anywhere near the price of the titan or nomad it is not worth getting and thus not a good starter, if it is at about the same price (maybe 60) as the mustang/aurora then I could see why anyone might want to buy it

Do we know how much? Id like a more updated starter the a titan at this point.
Nope not generally what get is what you get for gun size.
With the new update that just came out in the ptu, they changed to a size 4 gun
i really want to like this thing, but it needs a bit more work before it'll be worth using in any way. if the gun would be a size 4 or if it would get some missiles, the combat power would go up to beeing usable. if the exterior would be slimmed down a little, it would be a nice enough looking ship to still use it in scenarios where it's not the best choice. mainly the wings and back need to be a bit thinner and the top could use some rounding like on the C-1.
with both this and the polaris, i feel like these ships got finnished in a hurry just for IAE but they could definetly use a bit more work (exterior for this thing, interior for the polaris)
Crusader take wasted space to a whole new level.
Like a warden?
@ Yes exactly, or damn close to what I mean at least. Perhaps a tad smaller exterior, and an scu or two of cargo and I would say perfect. 👌
I think the console will be reutilised as a data screen for a data running variant 👀
I like the way you think!
for a few more the nomad can carry a ROC and a bit more cargo
The Intrepid has a fantastic interior amenities and it's fast for a starter and so more fun to fly than other starters with such a great interior. Also has 20% more QT fuel capacity than a Cutter. Its a great starter/cheap runabout.
Interior is perfect but the cockpit size and placement is where it loses me. Center that thing up and put a bigger gun on it.
That gun cant be right, it looks like the tiny gun is just a "filler", look at the slot its fitting. CIG need to comment on this really
Gun is size 4 now so much better, just wish it had more then only 2 size 1 missals on it...
I love it.
I know we're not here for this but man, that dogfighting in yaw with vjoy REALLY made me cringe lol 😭😂
Love ur videos about ships!
I think it's between cutter/100i/avenger titan in pricing and value. I already have those anyway, so probably won't pick one up. And the exterior is really 😬. Definitely top tier starter interior though
it needs one S4 weapon mount to come closer to aegis titan, syulen, nomad
You forget it has veto lift too.
Apart from the habitation area I don't see any good selling points for this ship. Maybe the doors that help prevent accidental ventilation but overall it feels like a pretty weak ship. The unpolished exterior texture doesn't help my impression..
i have a 100i and its prety good becose it has 3m of qt fule hope the intrepid as a sizebel tank to
I love the asymmetric look, very Star Wars. I just wish it had an actual reason to use it.
I don't think there will be control surfaces on this ship, those are not wings. Besides it's got vtol.
cig are very good to make ships with always something wrong with it ....
$50 ship wont get much love. It is a neat shuttle.
Ares is not asymmetric actually. Hull itself is perfectly symmetric (wings, fuselage, cockpit), they just added a gun to one side of it.
But Intrepid is just bad. Not just its ugly shape, but also 2-storey wings and engines sticking out.
Such a serious video about a tiny little ship that will be just fun to fly around in.
The engineering console is still handy for later on when this life-in-space sim becomes a game and you have to replace components just to get off the ground. running back and forth to the cockpit and the components hatch just to make adjustments sounds like a hassle. I'm okay with the panel.
Under gunned, cockpit looks daft, wings look very chunky, just an odd ship tbh.
They tried something different but it doesn’t work for me
its sad, even with upgraded components, vlrt's shoot my engine off with 2 shots and I'm uncontrollable. They need to definitely give it more health. For the rest, to tour half of the system with a very quickly manueverable ship and play some basic missions, it's good.
If they threw on a size 5 that they built the whole ship around on there instead of that dinky little size 3 then it would be great.
I said it before and I'll say it again... this ship is like a 6ft tall dude packing a 4 inch tool... some girls might say it's enough to make him feel better... but deep down they're all disapointed
Just have to find a small human female NPC to make it right again.. 👍
Honestly I like the look of the ship, I really like a lot of things about this ship, But one thing I don't like Where are the GUNS?? one gun please! it is a good replacement for the Aurora.. But that's it.
Classifying the Avenger Titan as a starter ship was such a mistake
This thing already outclasses all non-specialized starter options in every category but firepower, and people want to stick a S5 on it just to try and keep up with the Titan.
Yeah... its a neat little ship but its probably the worst overall starter ship.
It's not usable. Only for shuttle starter hauler. You run and never fight.
Don't poopoo on my gameplay. Not everyone plays to fight.
I don’t like this ship, I think the proportion is just bad, I like the idea but it’s just meh. And the MTerappin is also a disappointment because they change the entrance. Not interested in the Hornets nor Capital Ships so it seem I am saving my money this Expo😬
The interior seems pretty good, but everything else... 🤦🏻♀️
Nah, I'm a Mom and I hate it. lol 07
i like how it look but it's starter ship and my starter ship now is cutty and it's better so i don't wanna downgrade. so it's not for me
They could have done those engines better.. how do we go from the polaris to this 🤦
uhm, its a design language. Look at the Engines of the previous crusader ships, same look and feel.
COULD a mother love the Intrepid's exterior? ...
If it's less than $55, I'm in. Otherwise it's a hard pass
I think they'll sell it for the same price as the Syulen ($65 WB/$70 credit). I hope I'm wrong though!
@@JL-rj9flif they sell this for the same price as the syulen I'll get the syulen just to spite this ship when it goes on sale. And I don't even need a starter class ship.
@@aaronjohnson4061 The Syulen is a fine vessel, she'll serve you well 🙂. Joking aside, I really do hope I'm wrong on the price.
They should've given it a s4 gun not a s3
You'll learn to love doors when Maelstrom is implemented and bullet holes vent your O2 to space...
I wouldn't care if that ship hit harder than the inferno, that thing is too hard to look at and it feels asymmetrical for zero reason.
It’s SO ugly I LOVE IT
It's got a size 4 now, which improves the looks a little. But it's still disgustingly ugly, especially for a Crus ship.
There's no point in spending USD on anything. Get it with auec when it's in-game. There's no need to pay to be an alpha tester in a tech demo.
Or! Something I just thought of. They can make intrepids unique gun like a double barrels 3 or 4
Crusader have the worst use of space ever.
$45 my guess
Honestly I thought at first it was a rejected C1 concept. Not a fan.
One of the worst ships in the game: weak weapon and shields, no real utility, and a billion unnecessary doors. Nice-ish interior, sure, but I feel sorry for new players who look at this thinking its an affordable version of the Ares and then struggle in VLRTs. CIG should be embarrassed.
the ship is good is a starter
if it is anywhere near the price of the titan or nomad it is not worth getting and thus not a good starter, if it is at about the same price (maybe 60) as the mustang/aurora then I could see why anyone might want to buy it
The phrase is “put their hat in the ring”. Not “put their name into the hat.” Thanks for the Lolz..
Nope en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/put_one%27s_name_in_the_hat both are valid
