HI PATW, i was hoping you could do a video on how to weld a crack in the barrel of an alloy wheel, it would be a massive help for the new job I have just taken on, Thanks a lot and keep up the greart work
Hey Dusty!!! Fan here from PR. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I've learned a lot of you that helped me get better at welding. You are the best!
I started with only having 1/8 filler welding some not so clean 1/16 material and i found my welds improved when i got some 1/16 filler but that's probably because my material isn't new and it doesn't matter how much i clean it's still contaminated and my technique still needs hell of a lot of work
Great tip Dusty. As soon as I get back to my A/C MTS machine in the spring I'll get the garage setup, practice a bit then enroll in one of your classes. Thank you.
can you show me the settings on the welding machine for TIG aluminum welding. and please answer what causes tungsten to melt easily for aluminum welding
I watched him use some mug wire on 0.040” Ali sheet. So I’m guessing it depends. Would be great to see more real thin TIG time. I’m working on some Landrover bodywork and it’s 0.040” thick - troublesome don’t cover it!
Absolutely!!! Prep your filler rod just like you prep your material to be welded. I use Scotch Brite on my filler rod than wipe it down with lacquer thinner before I start using it.
@@KingBigBabyJesus Probably the most important thing is to weld often as possible. Sometimes I will go a couple of weeks doing nothing more than tacks, it will take me quite a bit of time to get my welds looking really nice again. Its not that they are ugly and most people don't even notice but I can certainly tell a difference. Lucky I'm not an artist. Good luck. The most important thing to pretty welds is get in a comfortable welding position.

how to not burn trought on the little spots you make to it stay together on chrome pipes?
Thank you so much.
Would you still opt for 1/8” filler if you were welding something much thinner like aluminum intercooler piping for a car?

Thank you! Your tips are always useful dude 🤘
Thanks LARRYMOORE
Just in case you didn't know, your name is clearly visible above.
Hey Dusty! I was wondering if your preference with 1/8" rod is for aluminum primarily or if you prefer it for mild/SS as well. cheers!
Love this channel..!
Chill.
Aside from wiping down the filler should it be wire brushed first? I'm assuming it gets oxidization like the base metal. 🪙

@@fastone371 Thanks, really appreciate the reply. Defiantly gonna help next time I give aluminum a go. He sure makes it look easier than it is
