I really love this type of soup. Don’t even need fish stock. Water’s good enough. I used sour cream instead of cream and olive oil instead of butter, initially, with leeks, instead of onions. A lot of changes haha.
First i fry the potatoes on a frying pan with butter just a bit then i put them in the water to boil, then i hit the salmon together. Then i chop other veggies and fry them on the pan and hit them in the soup.
Greetings from Australia. Huge thank you to yourself and Dave for the fun videos which always make me wish I was getting on a plane to visit Finland again. Last June, my wife and I road-tripped during a visit to Finland and found ourselves eating the most amazing SMOKED Salmon Soup at the fish shop next to Hotelli Laatokan Portti, just near the eastern frontier crossing at Parikkala. Took some beautiful smoked salmon away for snacks as well. Highly recommend trying it if you get an opportunity.
Omg I can't wait to try and make it myself! I was an intern in Lapland at Arctic Husky Farm and had this quit often with the costumers and I LOVED it!! Also miss it!! Thanks for sharing this recipe! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍🙏
"And some cream to make it... creamy", that's my kind of logic right there, love it! Nämen hejsan, slutresultatet ser ju helt fantastiskt gott ut! Nu började jag längta efter fisksoppa. Ja joo, punainen maito sopii hyvin kalakeittoon, mutta Cat käytti kermaa kuten minun äidillä on tapana, joten maitoa ei välttämättä tarvita. I love it how everyone is commenting on Cat's videos in Finnish, Swedish and English, but no-one is complaining and everybody is happy.
Your one of the main inspirations for a book character of mine. Her name is Avianna, she's Finnish but she moves to the UK, gets a fiancee in London, yada yada yada😂😂😂. Anyway I just wanted to thank you for helping me bring my character to life. I just found your channel yesterday and I love your content: Keep doing what you do❤
Olipa vetisen olonen soppa.
Cat!!! (Or anyone else who knows actually) Super important question. :p Do they still sell these deep plates you are eating out of at Ikea Finland? (That's what they are from right?) Here in Holland they discontinued them long ago, and we only have one left -.-' They were our favourites! P.s. Love Cat's kitchen. I'm a horrible cook. But I definitely wanna try some of your recipes! ^.^
I haven't even finished the video yet, byt dear lord how much anxiety I'm getting from that plate of salmon.... just don't drop them, please! They're gonna just slide off and drop to the flooooooor :D
My wife and I make this all the time. My family tree goes back to finland so we've starting living more like finns. This is by far our favorite meal to make.
Actually, the "l" isn't pronounced in the word. So the proper pronunciation is more like "sammon". Finns typically pronounce the "l", because finnish is written as it's spoken - every letter is pronounced. Not so in English. There are many words with silent letters.
Hey Cat, I believe that the spice you are talking about is called, Allspice!

your potatos will still cook incthe hot mixture as it cools so dont stress.
thank you ill be trying this!
but little less watery and more cream.
I prefer the "clear" version without cream, like we do in the archipelago. But both are tremendous!
Wow! Looks really good! I wanna make this. Thank you for sharing. 🐟😊
I like so much this recipe. Thank you for sharing
The "spice pepper" is allspice
Thanks for the video. It was very illuminating.
Yum! Salmon soup was probably my favorite dish from my Helsinki trip last year. I
I can imagine! 🤩

Haha my kind of people! 🤷🏼♀️😊💪 Det var faktiskt gott! 👌
Do you think "spice pepper" is allspice peppercorns?
Look really good but what cream? Like what kind of cream do you use?
Don’t skip the step, good video, good luck 👍
Definitely going to be recreating this!!!
The pepper is called allspice in English.
Testaa ensikerralla tehdä keitto kolmen juuston kermalla tavallisen kerman sijaan, maailmasi (ja lohikeittosi) mullistuu😍
Vauuuu 😍😍😍 kiitos vinkistä!
Please replace the rye-bread with "rieska". Much, much better combination :)
Det är ett lustigt namn! Well you can use it for nearly everything so maybe it's a good name.
How long did you cook it for?
I've been through that face as well :) you can also try to use Lapin puikulaperunaa and koskenlaskija instead of cream :)
Oooh koskenlaskija sounds like a great idea!! 😋😋
How do you pronounce the Lohikeitto?
I would cook everything in the broth skip the cream and then add sour cream into the bowl.
Laxsoppa är nog gott! Inte var det händelsevis finsk lax? 😉
Tror det var norsk tyvärr! :)

Oh fantastic!! 😄😄👌👌
Bushton hashtonw haigan ushinagan soup!
in the end you catdipped your hair in the soup :D oopsiedoupsie :)
Maustepippuri englanniksi Allspice, also called pimenta. Mitäön sukua pippurille maustepippuri ei ole. 😉
Pippuria on pippuria on pippuria 🤔😂
@@CatCadwallader whaat? Nyt ei ummarra? ❓😂❓
@@pasi1900 same same, different name! 🤷🏼♀️😄

Yes! Definitely try them!! :)
You don't look so confident cooking. Soup looks good!
OH MY LIFEEE
CAN WE MAKE THIS NEXT TIME IM THERE? 🤤🤤🤤
Sure thing!! 👌
So exciting!!! Need to get some special butter too with the bread
Special butter is mandatory
Potatoes, onions, cream, salmon and dill. How can you fuck this up?
Your hair is in the soup!
Haha you and Dave both need to concentrate on other things than where my hair is in this video 😂😂
Tee vanha kunnon lanttu tai perunakukko. Katsotaan onnistuuko :)
😬😬😬
Ai niin, olin jo unohtanut! 😁👍👍

Try with sweet potatoes instead 😉
Oooh I'm intrigued! 🤩
They are peppercorns in English
It's allspice
Punaista maitoa veden sijaan ja sitten jauhoisia perunoita kiinteiden sijasta, muuten näytti buenolta!
Hyviä pointteja! 👌👌
😍goo.gl/images/ZCQRCc
