- I'm Living off the Ocean from my Liveaboard Sailboat, catching all my own food and trapping blue crabs and harvesting stone crab claws in Florida. I also use a cast net to catch bait fish and have dolphins surrounding my boat.

I’m from the mid west and grew up saying “POP” too. I have lived in the western part of the country for 30 years and know I say “SODA” I’m going to start saying “POP” again because of you.😊 don’t stop!!
Cool. The traps are a neat way to collect food. I love the markings on those crabs
Haha thanks I like the traps to, easy way to get food and I can always use my fish carcuses for bait now so I don’t waste nothing lol
You are pure inspiration! Thank you for sharing what life is like on a boat in practical terms. I can't wait!
Thanks :) hope you live the dream to man
love me some crabs!
I’m Catching about 10-15 stone crabs a day here without even trying lol
O yes I do know what I am missing. Just lost my mom Sunday night after being her caregiver for 2 years . Numb and lost. But I love watching your videos. So humble and kind.
Maaaan that sucks :/ I was real close to my mom to when she passed, it was the hardest thing I ever went through. Hope it all works out for you,you just need time
Love the videos, keep it up. Boat life is the best life isn’t it….🤙
Thanks :) yea it doesn’t get much better than this
I watch your channel from Poland in winter and I'm already counting when my boat will go to the water. Respect and Greetings
Thanks,it’ll come sooner than you know. Hope you like the channel :)
Very useful information. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching :)
Looks alot better than being in the mountains of wyoming in the winter lol
I bet lol mountains are cool to though
I found your channel a few days ago and I've already seen all your videos, upload content more frequently. That also helps the growth of your channel. by the way very good youtube channel 🙌🙌🙌
Haha great advice I’m still learning though it takes me 2 days just to edit the 3 days of footage I feel like it won’t be any good if I put out more videos. I appreciate you watching everything though and the feedback :) maybe once I learn how to do all this quicker I’ll be able to
Good stuff man! I like how you’re actually taking/took the time to explain the “how I do/did it” part of your journey. Most RUclipsrs don’t do that. It might be a good idea to throw an affiliate link in your descriptions of products you use like the crab traps. Keep it up man!
Yea im trying hard not to sell out man, ive turned down 3 sponsors because i feel like its selling out, i feel like if i can jst make good videos it’ll be enough i dont need to get greedy and try to sell people u know?
I get that. Stay true to yourself. But anyway, I’m really digging the content.
@@planeoleme sweet :) lemme know if you ever have any feedback for me, I listen lol
The affiliate links arent like sponsors. You just post a link in your video description. Then when people like myself want to buy the same things you are using, we can click the link and you get a few pennies from the sale. I totally get not using sponsors tho. @OffgridOceanLife
I'm gonna have to try that!
Love stonies! I usually dive in the watet and grab em to get them!👍👍
The short flat traps are about half the size of the ones we use here in Australia, for mud crabs. They're a big grab though.
Hmm maybe I’ll keep trying to use them and hope for something big
Very cool man. Next time show us a could ways you fix those crabs up for dinner.
Yeaaaa man I wanted to do that on this episode but completely forgot to record it lmao I’ll do some catch and cooks soon though for sure
@OffgridOceanLife is that a charcoal grill you got there?
@@travistucker7317 Naa jst gas
Awesome dolphin footage!
Thanks :) they’re everywhere in the spot I’m at I see one like every 5 minutes lol
@@OffgridOceanLife awesome! I’m a UK subscriber, and have only ever seen dolphins on the TV 😅
@@joshuamillard7675 haha nice, I’ve been getting quite a lot of views from the I’m for some reason. Hope ya like the channel :)
Yes. Seafood is extremely healthy for us! We consume it as much as possible.
Better than vegetables man, can’t believe how much you guys have supported me with everything I’m doing, I owe you.
PUT THAT LITTLE CRAB ON A HOOK AND CATCH YOU A BIG FISH.
lol you ending up doing it
Haha not the biggest fish but I did it
Hi Nick, have just come across your RUclips channel and think it’s great! Are you still sailing and uploading videos?
There doesn’t seem to be anything that recent.
Heyy, thanks :) yea I went broke and had to get a job for a couple months but the videos will be comming every week again here soon
@@OffgridOceanLife awesome, well I’m subscribed so should see them when you put them on. Hope working doesn’t suck too much and you’ll be back out on the ocean before you know it!
@@stuartbird8404 appreciate the positivity :)
Awesome videos man. How are you doing sailing? run into any crazy weather with "Oh Shit" moments?
Hahah oo yea I made a compilation video on my patreon account of all the crazy moments lol some were pretty intense, but I’m still kickin :)
What part of the keys are you in? Are there only crabs away from other boaters? What about in the anchorages with lots of other boats around?
I’m in Tampa bay now but I’ll be heading back to the keys in about a month, but yea crabs are everywhere but I don’t like catching them in anchorages cause a lot of people discharge there toilets into the water and crabs eat that lol
On the stone crabs,do you eat the whole crab or just bust off one claw so it regrows?
Ha,you just answered that on the video
Haha yea I jst pop a claw off, the bigger blue crabs I get I eat the whole thing though :)
Are you still in Charlotte Harbor?
Off and on I’m sailing around bokeelia at the moment :)
Do all the crabs basically taste the same?
Naa well I only have eaten blue crab and with stone crab I only eat the claws but between those 2 they taste pretty different for sure
u workout on the boat bro?
Not as much as I should be, but yea I lift buckets of water hahaha
Unfortunately you need fishing license to fish, at least in the EU. Even for sport fishing. Just be careful. I hope police does not visit you. Best wishes
Yeaa u need one here to :/ but I have one though
why are you pulling the crabs leg off thats awful
lol I take one off so they can still eat, they regrow and they taste great :)
@@OffgridOceanLife oh you eat that ?
@@juliaparks06 u crack me up lol yea the meat tastes sweet
why would anyone trap another living thing? you have to have no sympathy or heart to do that
Do a video on how you prepare your seafood to eat
Yeaa I suck at cooking but I’ll give it a shot lol
