  • I'm Living off the Ocean from my Liveaboard Sailboat, catching all my own food and trapping blue crabs and harvesting stone crab claws in Florida. I also use a cast net to catch bait fish and have dolphins surrounding my boat.

    I’m from the mid west and grew up saying “POP” too. I have lived in the western part of the country for 30 years and know I say “SODA” I’m going to start saying “POP” again because of you.😊 don’t stop!!

    Cool. The traps are a neat way to collect food. I love the markings on those crabs

      Haha thanks I like the traps to, easy way to get food and I can always use my fish carcuses for bait now so I don’t waste nothing lol

    O yes I do know what I am missing. Just lost my mom Sunday night after being her caregiver for 2 years . Numb and lost. But I love watching your videos. So humble and kind.

      Maaaan that sucks :/ I was real close to my mom to when she passed, it was the hardest thing I ever went through. Hope it all works out for you,you just need time

      Haha great advice I’m still learning though it takes me 2 days just to edit the 3 days of footage I feel like it won’t be any good if I put out more videos. I appreciate you watching everything though and the feedback :) maybe once I learn how to do all this quicker I’ll be able to

    Good stuff man! I like how you’re actually taking/took the time to explain the “how I do/did it” part of your journey. Most RUclipsrs don’t do that. It might be a good idea to throw an affiliate link in your descriptions of products you use like the crab traps. Keep it up man!

      Yea im trying hard not to sell out man, ive turned down 3 sponsors because i feel like its selling out, i feel like if i can jst make good videos it’ll be enough i dont need to get greedy and try to sell people u know?

      The affiliate links arent like sponsors. You just post a link in your video description. Then when people like myself want to buy the same things you are using, we can click the link and you get a few pennies from the sale. I totally get not using sponsors tho. ​@OffgridOceanLife

    The short flat traps are about half the size of the ones we use here in Australia, for mud crabs. They're a big grab though.

    What part of the keys are you in? Are there only crabs away from other boaters? What about in the anchorages with lots of other boats around?

      I’m in Tampa bay now but I’ll be heading back to the keys in about a month, but yea crabs are everywhere but I don’t like catching them in anchorages cause a lot of people discharge there toilets into the water and crabs eat that lol

    On the stone crabs,do you eat the whole crab or just bust off one claw so it regrows?

      Naa well I only have eaten blue crab and with stone crab I only eat the claws but between those 2 they taste pretty different for sure

    Unfortunately you need fishing license to fish, at least in the EU. Even for sport fishing. Just be careful. I hope police does not visit you. Best wishes
