It sounds like an immovable object meeting an irresistible force. And, as always, nature will take its course. If we limit the description of "artist" to someone who paints, sculpts or arranges objects, then I am definitely not an artist. And, if the description is broadened to include musicians and vocalists, then I'm still on the outside looking in. However, if we include those who put thoughts on paper and have a way with words then I might just squeak by ha-ha. Thanks again for a great show!
your video got recommended to me and you voiced the questions I have about myself for as long as I can remember. I do call myself an artist, it is how my friends and family describe me. But I do have periods of time where I don't touch any of my art supplies. I lost my habit of filling out sketchbooks. So I do think about this a lot. I think you are right that even when you don't do art, it can still be an artistic process. It is important to find other ways to get inspired. I often find myself scrolling on pinterest endlessly for an "inspiration". But I know the most exciting inspirations I got before was from unexpected things. Maybe I was having a regular walk down the street and I saw a sign that reminded me of that other thing and now I want to create something out of this connection. There is this pressure of "you must create" and always share it with people to get the recognition, which is true. I think that has been my biggest art block. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
