Himachali Dham can be divided into four different cuisine . No. 1. Kangari or Kangra Dham famous in District Kangra 2. Mandyali Dham famous in Mandi district, 3. Chambali Dham famous in District Chamba and No.4. Kulhari Dham famous in the district Bilaspur and Hamirpur. Each Dham has its own taste cooking method . But authentic Dham would be prepared without garlic and onion and would carry authentic taste without compromise on taste . Personally i like Kangra Dham most.
Don't include bilaspuri sham and hamirpuri dham...... Hamirpur dham is similar to kamgri dham. But bilaspuri dham is completely different and the best dham in the statev

Himachali Rasoi is serving the Only Authentic Himachali Food in Shimla ..best is Mandyali Dham one day and Kangra Dham next day..both the Dhams are worth savouring, as they differ from each other...Also the Siddus..with real Pahari Ghee, both savoury and sweet..Rest of Shimla eateries only serve Panjabified food, available all over North India...Very much worth a visit...food is fresh and nutritious.
It's very common across North India ( Jammu till Delhi ) . I have it regularly in my office canteen. I'm Punjabi and I also make sambhar, coconut chutney, dosa, idli, uttapam & vada at home.

Aur jabse aapka channel dekha hai tabse or koi channel dekha bhi nahi hum to ghar mein bhi umda umda krk baat karte hai.Meri ek request thi aapse ke please jhoot na chhode . Superb ! ❤Shimla is my maternal home as my late mum was from Shimla! 🙏🏼 There are many underatted eateries there. I would say mall road food is good as long as it is for pastries,puffs and baked stuff! But as you go to the middle and lower bazaars on mall road you Will find amazing food options! New plaza ( very good non veg gravies) Chung fa dhaba ( amazing indo chinese food ) Sher e punjab ( been eating there for years but when I Last went in 2019 I was disappointed with the quality of the butter chicken and roganghosht! Fried fish joints near the butchers market Pls note even sanjauli a suburb of shimla has amazing food joints !
Language won't be an issue at all, in Shimla. I'm from the north (Uttarakhand). Mostly, the small towns wherein Britishers ever had their base such as Doon, Mussoorie, Nainital and Shimla, English is spoken in abundance. You'd feel comfortable no worries at all. It can be overwhelming when you land in Delhi Airport before cab to Shimla. But you must explore with ease :)
Baljee less known secret was their Besan ke ladoo. The best besen ladu I have ever eaten anywhere. They use to only make 2 kg a day. I use to come before 12 noon to buy the entire stock before they get sold off.
For everyone's kind information Himachal Pradesh was a part of Punjab state so, most of the food ,culture, dressing sense is similar So technically Himachal is a majority Punjabi pahari state(75% Dogras) and minority Shimla pahari and Himachali ladakhi(Lahaulis, Spitians Like the Punjabi culture, Sangeet ceremony was a condition precedent to the wedding with almost each household of Kangra being invited for the same. The people living in Himachal but are Punjabis or came from punjab & their ancestors also will consider themselves as PUNJABI..!the most special thing about the food was it’s method of serving. While around hundred and fifty people were sitting together on floor with ‘Pattal’ and not plates before us, the food items were not served, all at once, but only after we finished the first item. Most of the things were and are same so, i don't wrote anything wrong. So, search out before saying anything.
