just from my experience with a relatively humble collection of 5000+ records i'd say organising by label, genres, clusters and metaclusters plus including the occasional artist section is a good way to go to keep things organized.

with a history of elctronic club music going back to as far as 1983 if you'd consider cybotron's "enter" as a starting point for that why shouldn't deejays draw from a rich and vast past and combine classic tunes with new tunes in a set? when i play house i always love to go back to the early to mid 90s at some point because some of the tunes from that era are a blueprint and shaped the sound of house music today plus they go well with new stuff AND they might - and oftentimes are - new to an audience that wasn't even born back then and therefore experience them with fresh ears... as NEW to them. and i see nothing wrong with that.
Carl Cox is a once in a lifetime experience of music and emotions. The best of all times, in my humble opinion

I don't know what it is that Carl Cox does differently. Maybe it's his selections, his mixing, his attitude, maybe all of them. All I know after being familiar with him for about 12 years, is that there is no better DJ in the world, bottom line. I hope to see many more years of him playing for us.
He's heavy on the reverb and delay but he does it just right to make it complement the builds and drops, being a great DJ needs a massive amount of flavor and influence, talent inherited from upbringing also, Carl said he had a large Soca influence when his Dad allowed him to take over the late night parties his Mum n Dad had, Satoshi Tomiie and Jesse Perez also had a huge practice with piano which contributed to their great DJing and productions.

I think he stays in the pocket of the groove better than most. Instead going thru a lengthy build-up for the drop.

Carl Cox is a legend I’ve loved listening to some proper old tunes remixed obviously! Just a shame the small crowd of people didn’t make the most of it. It’s not everyday you get to see Carl Cox. I would of been having it large if I was there lol 😆 💃🏻💃🏻

This is a great time for music. I could never have imagined in the '90s that in the future, I would have music on demand. I couldn't afford to buy new CDs then. What I could...I could go to clubs almost every weekend, sometimes three days a week, for eight years straight. That was my primary source of music...going to clubs. And now, clubs and these so-called festivals are all lame.
But man, I can choose King Carl whenever I want with his numerous amazing sets and have a lot of fun at home listening for hours. The only thing you need are a good pair of headphones...and voila, master Carl Cox in DA House! You are such a legend, Big Daddy!!! Thanks for bringing such a good vibe, rhythm and energy! Cheers!

One of my favourite mixes ever. Big salute to the legend Carl Cox number 1 DJ. 🙌😎😁. Being listenting to Carl Cox since he came out 91 era and got to see him at raves in 94 an 95. Favourite ever tape mix was a dance planet 1994 mix innnersense event, that tape got played more than any other back in the day on the way to raves., 😁😁

Cool to say that I shared some nights having him as invited dj in the club I was resident in Mallorca... loooong time ago, but he was a legend already back then, probably even more than know... he is a master of his skills and I loved to watch him all night over the shoulder while doing the lights...
he played in frisco invited him to an after party only to play a set.. insane memories

Carl Cox playing a house set is a once in a lifetime experience any house head could wish for, this crowd he's playing for seem bereft of such an opinion, this is quite possibly the worst crowd at a performance of a world class Dj I have ever witnessed shame on them

I’ve only seen Carl once - I thought no it was in 1989. He played a 3 deck set in a tiny club in the Midlands- me & my 2 mates had Birds Eye views of his skills 🫡🔥 There were only about 20 disinterested ‘clubbers ‘! Idiots! He’s as old if not older than me & he’s not only paid his dues and carried heavy records etc - He still obviously LOVES IT - make some noise posh punters in the sun! 🙄
Has anyone here heard the set he did with Norman Cook at ‘Saaatchi’s’(sounds posh as well!) but it’s a real good set. So many great mixes without the boring baggage type songs. I like this equally, plus there’s so many tunes I don’t know👍😃🔥

This just goes to show..I’m in my 50s, been djing since I was 17 years old to large crowds..and I still can’t mix that well..but in my experience the crowd more love a dj that can read them well and play the right selection..if you look at the video not everyone is dancing and mr cox is a professional..but we all know it’s very rare that in any jam you’re going to get everyone moving..another thing I make sure of is having good professional dj equipment..I have lots of rcf subs and mid range tops and always use pioneer players..
