  • This is a walk through of my setup on my 90 gallon "Dutch Style" planted tank build and the progress. Tank was set up Jan 12th 2014 and everything was built out at one time. This is my first video but, wanted to do a video showing how everything is setup and some of the equipment I am using. Sorry for the long video just a lot to cover.

    Smart set up bro, I have a inverter system that gives power for at least 2 days. Also has a smart function that let's u know that the power is off and it is on battery pack.

    Love the set up its going to look amazing, really like how clean and organised everything is below aquarium. Planning my own wet dream 6x2x2 planted discus tank so will keep a close watch on how yours is coming on for any tips, sadly i have to build my new house before i get to build my new aquarium.

    Try a high quality t5HO fixture, such as the Aquatic Life freshwater fixture, to really get the HC spreading/growing. I too had high output LED fixtures and switched to t5HO (the Aquatic Life) and the spread and growth difference is night in day. Beautiful tank and good luck with you tank!

      I may have to give that a try. At the moment I don't have room for another fixture. I might when I pull the two Satellite+ fixtures to add the multi channel BML Dutch fixture.

    Nice deff like to see the apex setup on a planted tank plus your light also I was thinking about getting some but I went with Finnex instead

      Absolutely, I can definitely do a Apex and lighting video. It may be a two part video for the Apex since there is a lot to demo. Give me a few days. The Finnex fixtures are great fixtures too for those with a budget. Can't go wrong with ether but I would recommend the BML over the Finnex if it is within budget. Fish on!

    Wow that was a great video, very well done. I am really impressed by your setup, in fact I don't think I've ever seen one quite like it, really clean, organized, and well thought out. I have to ask how much did just the equipment set you back? Between the lights/filters/ Co2, all the pumps, seems like a huge investment! Also you may want to reconsider you current light setup. I have seen much better results with T5 HO.

      Brian Patrick apex alone is 500, lights about the same, pumps around 100 each. c02 about 300 or so. more than 2 grand in equipment easily with the Wi-Fi controller a d canister filter.

    hey just to let you know all the equipment you have on the output of the filter will drastically reduce the flow on your filter, especially the ap1000. A popular mod to it now adays is to remove all the bioballs, you will still work very good. You should get better results splitting to output off into 2 loops, that way you can reduce the flow going through the additional equpment, and still maintain the majority of it going back into the tank.
    What lenses do you have on the bml? they should be more than enough to grow a think HC carpet
    Very nice tank!

      alpha1172 I haven't watched this video in a while. The balls are removed and I removed them from day 1. Also cut the upper barbs off the AP1000 to give it better flow. I have since replaced the filter since the one I had was defective. I need to do some update videos but haven't had a time. Things should be calming down now where I can get some videos done.

    u should try to keep the videos to a max of 10min cause i personally think thats is the longest most people want to watch a video for:) i see alot of people to like a part1 part2 so that it isnt so long(hope u dont take this the wrong way)

      I agree and I tried to. Since this was a intro video this was the only one that would be long. I didn't want people to have to search for a second video and I also lost track of time and wasn't aware it was that long. Time can fly.

    Red super nice setup, any updates? What part of Texas are you from?

    The reason the filter is not putting out as much as it should is because it's going through way too many 90 degree bends. All of that adds to the head pressure and reduces the flow. Looks very nice though!

    • @LonestarAquatics
      @LonestarAquatics  9 лет назад

      In theory that is what one might think but, that is not the case. The filter had a bad pump and I have since replaced the filter. When I tested it with a filter half the power of that one it worked fine. It is working fine now that the filter has been replaced with a working one. Besides there is not that many 90 degree bends as you might think. The pipe dia. makes up for some of that for the head height.

    Current sat+ is not strong enough for HC growth. That's the problem

    • @LonestarAquatics
      @LonestarAquatics  9 лет назад

      I am not using the Sat+ for my day time lights as I explained in the video. They were only used in the evenings and morning for moonlight but have since been removed them as I have upgraded my BML to multi-channel fixtures.

    Isn't all that surface agitation, counter to your injected co2?

    • @XIIIStefanC
      @XIIIStefanC 3 года назад

      It's no problem as long as it gets absorbed into the water before reaching the surface I believe. The method used to inject the CO2 into the aquarium is also relevant.

      I like the setup so you can monitor everything without getting under the tank.

    • @LonestarAquatics

      Not exactly true. I am not sure if I mentioned it in the video or not but, if my power goes out my entire network and office is on UPS as well. The UPS can also be powered via batteries that are charged via solar panels. If worse comes to worse and I have to run off UPS only it can sustain for 6-8+ hrs. In the video I may have been mainly referring to if for some reason power was lost to the aquarium only then I would be notified. Ether way I am covered as the system connects to cloud servers so if it doesn't detected data the cloud server will email me. In the end if I am completely out of power I will get notified one way or the other ether through the Apex or through my UPS system. There is a lot of redundancy in place in case something happens. Hope that clears up some confusion.

    Its not a Dutch planted tank at all. Some plants in it does not mean its a Dutch tank.

    • @LonestarAquatics
      @LonestarAquatics  9 лет назад

      Antonius vd Klis I think the first 45 seconds explained it. There is a lot more plants in it than you can see in the video. Also it is a tank in progress and there is more than "Some Plants". When it is grown out you can tell a little better. Dutch Style is the direction it is going and by definition it fits the description of a Dutch Style planted tank.
