In today's episode, we are going to explore a few of the worst teams in recent memory to race in the Cup Series! Let's Dive In!

Obaika's owner also tried suing Nascar, claiming they made him fail because he he was black. Lawsuit was laughed out of court

I think the fact that they literally slapped the 97 over the 23 without even attempting to remove the number should say something about how abysmally run they were
Seems about the only good thing is the owner being willing to screw himself in order to make sure his employees got paid (presuming the rumor in the video is true).
TRG also ran in the truck series as Whelen modified legend Donny Lia won at Mansfield Motorsports Park in 2008.
NY Racing is still around actually. They raced in 2022 with Greg Biffle (Shockingly enough they got him to drive the No. 44 Grambling State Chevy)
And John is on the run again because he owes money to people that helped him restart his team.

I worked for some bad teams. I can honestly admit to pitting for 2 of the 5 in this video. I can't compliment them on anything.

Hey good for you for getting out there and doing it, even if a team is terrible at least they are willing to try. I say that as I don’t have a clue about how the people are personally idk if they are bad people I’m just saying I wish I could have the funds to have a terrible nascar team lol

When you have a 4 car team and those 4 cars finish the last 4 places in points yeah its pretty bad. Why have a 4 car team if every car sucks that bad and is that far off pace? Why not put that money into development and have 1 or 2 decently competitive cars?

Greg Biffle is driving the #44 Ny racing car
The team folded because John ran out of money and he owed money to people that helped restart his team. Along with being notorious for firing and mistreating employees that little quack is going to be found and arrested
Even if they are terrible I thank them for spending their money on a sport I love and props for getting out there and trying it.
Welp, Greg Biffle made a few starts in the NY Racing 44 this year. Lionel Racing even made a diecast.
He left because John is notorious for treating employees and his backers like shit. What most likely happened was that he couldn’t pay back the people that helped restart the team and John went dark. We’ll catch him and lock him up again
As a backmarkers fan, I'm like feel bad for these teams because some DNQ and S&P races.

Honestly, the five teams in this video make Rick Ware Racing look like Hendrick Motorsports by comparison.
BK had one non-plate top ten, which is more than Ware can claim. Kvapil was also 29th in owner points in 2012, while Ware's best is 32nd.

How about Bob Keselowski Motorsports? They had a feel good story in 2011, but they sucked. They were in operation for 3 years, only qualified for 5 races with a highest finish of 39th. Worse than TRG. With the practice crash in Martinsville in 2012, they should have never came back.

How y’all missed Prism Motorsports. They were a start and park 99% of the races as a 2 car team
Mears wasnt let go from the 90. He was on relief duty for Denny Hamlin, so Riggs was placed in the car.
It's easy to pick on these teams. At least they fielded cars; did you field any? Also, most are underfunded but what is worse? To finish last as a well funded team or finish lass as a low funded team? NASCAR is just like other sports, the well funded do better than the not so well funded. That's why the Cincinnati Reds will never see another World Series. Like everything else, money talks, bs walks. The drivers are irrelevant. Unlike in the old days, drivers have so many driver aides they could probably let go of the wheel and the car would drive itself. Also, the chamionship brand is almost predictable. 2021-Chevrolet, 2020-Toyota, 2022-Ford? NASCAR has to keep the manufacturers happy for fear they will withdraw.

I use TaxSlayer because of their support of Bobby Labonte. I was disappointed when they actually went to JR Motorsports.
The team may not qualify as one of the worst, but as a driver Manica Patrick sure did suck.

Back here after finding out that NY Racing failed to pay Greg Biffle for his time with team back in 2022
I know that the Hendrick are some of the best in NASCAR. But I'm almost a weekly basis something is always caught cheating. I would never want to drive for a cheating team.

Tri-Star was 22nd in points with Bobby Hamilton in 1991. Not great, but fairly competitive. The 2012-13 incarnation of the team was abysmal though.
Yeah, they weren't exactly bad. When they bought a charter in 2017, owner Mark Smith passed away mid-season, and his son, Bryan, took over the team, which could've hurt the team in some way. I remember hearing in an interview with Bryan before the 2019 season that the reason TriStar shut down was because they couldn't lock down a charter.
Obaika racing was ghetto & I wouldn’t have stepped foot in their equipment. That’s risking your life type shit!

I was in the pits at the 2011 fall Talladega race, and I was shocked/amused to see the 87 pit for Joe had no crew and no parts, tires, nothing. Guess they didn’t realize or care about the minimum crew required

I'll bet you obaika racing is not as bad as second chance motorsports. Let me Explain. SCM is owned by Rick Russel who scored only one win and was responceable for lapaging Taledega and left his own team to create second chance motorsports in 2010 with teh 79 as its number staring Tim Andrews who had 5 starts. In 2011 with a new car with a new driver. Jennifer Jo Cobb failed to Qualify at daytona however they made the cut a phenonix starting DED last. And that was there best performance (yes that's how bad they were) Jennifer Jo Cobb got lapped Multiple times and finish well DED last with 30 laps down... At the next race Jennifer Jo Cobb Bought her own set of tires however nascar officials said she needed Rick Russel to mandate Jo Cobb or else they were going to black flag her but after more races the team shut down in 2012 after that.

They had back-to-back top tens with two different drivers at non-plate tracks. Very meh, but no worse than most single car 90's teams. Way better than say, Triad Motorsports.

@@JayDee185 Yeah, say what about their on track performance, Rick at least seems capable of keeping checks from bouncing (at least I haven't heard of any). That alone gives him the edge over lots of teams.
And he’s managed to run an IndyCar team simultaneously with Romain Grosjean and Pietro Fittipaldi (and Grosjean almost won a couple of times).
They are better then all here lol
