      There's other tunes coming that will be easier to play than this one. I had "it's never too late" on my list for a while and needed to get it out there. Lots of changes coming to my channel, positive ones I think :-)

    Great Tutorial. Please can you teach Luttrell. It is the hardest song of Tommy Emmanuel. Endless Road is another great song will be great to learn from you.

      Hi Aarish, I will have a look at Luttrell, I think I know the song but haven't considered it for a tutorial yet. Another on my list would be Guitar Boogie

    Hi, Andre any tips to remember songs already learnt? learnt Song for rainy morning, Angelina and Wide Ocean from your tutorials but keep forgetting if I do not revise the tune for few days. As i learn new songs i seem to lose touch over previously learnt songs. Any advice? Within how many days you keep revising your previously learnt songs?

      That's a really good question. I think it starts with how you learn the songs in the first place. I use memory from the very start of learning a song, never playing or practicing more than I can commit to memory. Because of that my brain is wired to commit things to memory right away.
      Then there's the question of: how well did you know the song. Were you able to play it along with tommy, were you able to play it with a metronome, were you able to focus on different aspects of music (dynamics, articulation, etc) while playing and practicing the song. So there are different levels of "being able to play".
      A lot of songs I play and teach on youtube I know more superficially due to the pressure of having to upload weekly. So a lot of material I've done I'd have to relearn to play it. Granted, it would take me little time but still.
      But all the songs I learned pre-youtube, even songs I haven't played in 25 years, I can still play from memory, no sheet music needed.
      So if you're looking to build a repertoire, make sure that once a week you play through your repertoire list. If there are too many songs, set up a weekly rotation system so that in the time of a month you've played through all of them. Doing this will lead to a much deeper memorisation of the music.
      Hope this helps and sorry for my long winded answer :-)

      @@Yourguitarworkshop Thanks for the advice. I think that I will have to make a timetable to revise every Saturday cumulatively each and every song already learnt uptil now.

      @@Yourguitarworkshop Even I have learnt that the real challenging part is not to learn a song but to be able to recollect it to play even after say 6 months to 1 year from now without forgetting.

    • @Yourguitarworkshop
      @Yourguitarworkshop  3 года назад

      @@07irani The deeper understanding you have of a tune, the more the tune is "in your system" the harder it is to forget. Also, some songs are just not as "catchy" so they require more effort. I still know jingles from 40 years ago that I never even tried to memorise :-)

      @@Yourguitarworkshop If you can play some of your older songs like hotel California solo, more than words, master of puppets, Spanish romance etc right now perfectly even if you haven't revised it in long time means you have perfect pitch literally.

    Music is good but too full of air.... Tommy never played this on a classical guitar, find a Maton, good work though!

      I wish I had a Maton but 2 kids and house prices as they are and I am unfortunately limited in my options. Maybe in a few years :-)
