- The Freedom Front Plus President Pieter Groenewald says the ANC has accepted their condition to recognise Orania.
The Freedom Front Plus wants the Afrikaner-only enclave, Orania to be constitutionally recognised.
Groenewald says this was one of its preconditions to negotiations with the ANC in joining the Government of National Unity.
Orania is an Afrikaner Nationalist town in the Northern Cape province. It is located along the Orange River in the Karoo region.
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula earlier in the week categorically denied that recognising the status of Orania was a precondition in their negotiations with the FF Plus.

In Pondoland there are vast areas that only Zulus may live in. These areas don't pay tax, receives government subsidies, and produces nothing. Yet no one complains about it. Orania is private property. This was land that no one wanted. It was bought legally and now produces food for people like you. And you can go and visit it to see for yourself.

Because that place was established in 1991, even in that time black people were still not fully free to own land anywhere. The principle of why this orania being disputed, is because we've heard enough from white people in the past about where we are allowed to live and what we are allowed to own and how we are told to live. Even the color of the orania flag is similar to the apartheid government flag, and now they're going as far as telling all non afrikaners that they are not allowed to set foot or even occupy/work where you choose to stay, no ways.

I am an Afrikaans South African, but I undoubtedly and staunchly disagree with the notion of Orania. It’s far more than the perceived segregation of race - it’s self appointed superiority of culture and religion to ‘conserve’ traditional practices.
Everyone is allowed to their values and beliefs, yes. But as mankind, we should at least respect one another (not HAVE to, but WANT to), irrespective of indifference, religion or tradition.
There is no place, reason, validity or view that in my opinion, justifies the notion of EXCLUSION. It flies in the face of ‘embracing thy neighbour’, as a principle Christian approach…ironically so…🤷🏻♀️ It’s time to revaluate the historical ideologies of discriminate thinking, as symbolised by Orania. it’s unacceptable and an embarrassment to me as an Afrikaner, purely by virtue of cultural association. Orania’s allowed existence is not conducive to the growth and development of progressive democracy.
